Just one word. "TENACIOUS"! Who'd have thunk it would ever run and actually drive again........ All of my vehicles were running perfectly when I parked them in the shed some 40 years ago but it has been a spell.

I can't help myself but everytime I see old Vehicles like this I think back to the day when it was brand new and the person that bought it was all happy and excited that they had themselves a brand new vehicle. Showing it off to friends and family.
I thoroughly enjoyed your tenacity in getting that old beauty running & driving again. Thanks for taking the 3 - 4 days working on this. She doesn't deserve the scrap yard.
I wish I could just come hang out with this guy and listen to his stories and anything he might be willing to teach. Honestly, dude is low key a master of his trade
I was laughing my ass off. It was a killer when it finally caught and made smoke as thick as fog. Kids, don't try this at home. Flat heads never die. That was fun. I'm glad you saved this old Dodge from being scraped, and Pablo was smart to get scarce (he looks like he'd been rolling in the mud). Thanks Brent. 👍😎🍺🕵🏾♂️🎸🎵👽🧙🏼♂️🥂

I had a 1952 Dodge panel in 1972, I was 20. Got it for $75 in Bellingham and drove it to Santa Barbara (1200 mi.). I put a 327 & automatic, out of a wrecked Vett. in it. Hippied-up the inside 8-track, shag carpet, paneling, etc... Painted it bronze, chrome side pipes under running boards, chrome rims w/ baby moons, and flames on the fenders. After I got married sold it for $1600. Wish I still had it. Loved your video - I could talk about my Dodge all day.
I would love the opritunity to restore a great clasic like that. Right now I am working on a 1979 Dodge Powerwagon. I am all about the classics way better than any thing built today.
I have a 48 dodge pilot house and i think its a 2 ton! I'm going to put it on a 92 dodge One Ton frame ! The jury is still out on the engine ! Looking forward to seeing this project progress ! Thanks for sharing your visions and greetings from Montana !
A heads up for you Larry. There's an newer low mileage 5.7L hemi, auto trans, and transfer case listed in Kijiji Timmins or was it Facebook Marketplace for $1000. I had dreams of plugging it into Rat Rod Fargo but the guy wants a fortune for it and living on CPP&OAS doesn't allow for fun at that level. Or the guy with the Fargo also has a 5.9L cammed and Edelbrock intake and carb, price unknown. Hope this might help your search.
That same spark tester i brought a 6 pack from Princess auto around 15 years ago. Like you i only have one or two of them now LOL!!!! Wish they would get them again! they where so GREAT!!!!
This was a fun feature length movie, glad you stuck it out cuz I knew you were so close... it's always a balance needing 3 hands to work the starter, open the throttle, bottle feeding, etc.
I have no idea why I love videos like this so much but this is really lovely. It's nice to just sit back and relax and listen to this while doing other things. Thanks for the entertainment!
You said this might be boring to watch, but its actually very exciting and intense siting and thinking Now will it start ?!?@oh gosh how bout now !??! And I've never seen anyone play valve bongos

Going back through your older videos and found this classic today. Loved the “we don’t wanna have a Mortske moment” reference when you were hammering the valves. 🤣 Good stuff this.
Send that burned up starter to old mortske he is an expert with starters! Lol. You both have great content it would be awesome to see you guy do something together! That would definitely be CZcams gold for sure lmfao!
Why not yank the old engine and replace it with a Cummins diesel. Those old girls were built for hauling and a Cummins would just reinforce that heritage. Just my thoughts on the matter.

I cut my teeth on the old Pilot House Dodges back in the day. Part of my hoard included a 50 like yours. Mine was a standard cab like yours without the corner windows. Looks like you got the 1 ton pickup. They came factory with a 9 foot box.
Man that is a cool old dodge! The 2 green clearance lights on the top of the cab are flat out cool!!! Thanks for sharing never a disappointment on your channel!
My 50 Power Wagon had exact same valves stuck. Got it running enough to move it under its own power and get it home. Those valves will stick again, either full rebuild or at least an old school valve job (what i did). Videos on my channel!
In his New Mexico trilogy [the Milagro Beanfield War, etc...], John Nichols talked about the "vestigal horses" of Northern New Mexico. Every little homestead has a horse or two grazing in the pastures. Nobody rides them, they are left over from a time when people made their living on horseback. Your old Dodge makes me think again, as I often have, of the "vestigal pickup trucks" of the American Midwest. Almost every farm or ranch has an one or more late 40's pickups parked behind the barn, or out in the back 40. Nobody drives them anymore, but they were built so well that a lot of them are capable of being rennovated. They are part of our history, built in a time when people depended on their truck to get done what had to be done. Thank you for putting the effort into this old Dodge. I can't tell you how much of a kick I got out of hearing it run.

I don't want to buy that truck! Even so, this was one of the best "will it run" videos I've seen. Picked up one that looks like this, 49' Dodge 1.5 ton with tilt bed. It's in about the same condition, no idea what I am doing but it will be fun learning.

Hi Brent, love those old Dodges man. I'm glad you got your hands on it that's for sure you'll do something with it even if it's just around the shop. It's all about saving all metal.
