- Haifuri, or High School Fleet, is an anime that everybody asked for. Not really, but a group of people did. It's a fun show with a lot of terms that flies right over my head. I'm a fan of military anime so this is right up my alley.
I watched the ending again and I still find it funny. Everybody is so dramatic about it, but they do realize that it's near the port right? Shallow water? It pretty easy to pick up the pieces. Lol. Oh, well. We gotta have a cheesy ending.
Wrote this script a month ago, but I feel (more or less) the same about the battle scenes. It's not as inticing as I'd expect it to be. Comparing it to Girls und Panzers, I found myself at the edge of my seat when watching the last episodes of that. Here in High School Fleet, there isn't a big "danger" element for me to be scared about.
By the way, let's make the German girl as German as she can be. Yeah... let's name her Wilhelmina Braunschweig Ingenohl Friedeburg. That's German enough, right?
Plot Twist: Girls und Panzer and Haifuri are in the same universe.
What is High School Fleet?
It's about girls on battleships and pew pew pew pew.
Because of a shift in tectonic plates around 100 years ago, Japan lost much of its area to submergence. To preserve Japan's territories, coastal cities sprung up, one after the other. Eventually, they became marine cities, and along with the expansion of sea-lanes to connect them, the need arose for a sizable staff to protect the seas.
At the same time, maritime jobs were becoming more popular among women. Hence, the Blue Mermaids, tasked with keeping the seas safe, had become every female student's dream job. This is when childhood friends Akeno Misaki and Moeka China enroll in a marine high school in Yokosuka, along with other girls who share their goal of becoming a Blue Mermaid.

Imagine you're a Japanese Marine, you died defending your country, in a horrific death watching your ship get blown to pieces, then 70 years later, you hear that your country is making a show about Battleships, so in interest, you go down to earth and watch the show, thinking you would recieve some honour for your efforts and be remembered, However, you see Oddly drawn 2D schoolgirls piloting the IJN Musashi, the same ship you died on 70 years prior

Girls und Panzer now has four films. Three of the films are ovas with a total of six films making up the das Finale series.
Basically this Animated series is all based on the idea of GuP, what a fascinating story to heard

You know why it is almost the same as girls an panzer so are they in the same universe because the girls in girls and panzers live on a giant aircraft carrier because the water has risin just like what they said in highschool fleet. Coincidence i think not.
I get ya on that. The water rising meant there were more needs for the navy and since there isn't much land anymore, they just use the remaining they have to have a sport with tanks lol

Nope, This is what battleship is:
-Heavier, Masochistic version of a heavy cruiser, but shoots mini-nukes and has mountains of AA defence
Aircraft carrier
-An airfield placed on top of a cruiser, basically a floating beehive
Patrol boats
-Downgrade version of destroyer, but faster and more mobile
PLAYER. EXE While the Harekaze wasn’t a real ship, it’s a Kagerou class destroyer
Admiral Graf Spee- No one knows anymore

Battleships are long and have 16-inch guns Destroyers are small and have 5-inch guns this is the Destroyer
not necessarily, could be from anything from 10 inch to 18 inch. Cruisers are 6 inch to battleship caliber, what with alaska and prinz eugen. You were correct on destroyers though, anything 5 inch and below.

@@peterjensen9468 a little late, but german destroyers hat 5.9inch/150mm guns (light cruisers usually had 6inch/152mm guns)

About the manga thing, it's actually pretty common. The most famous example of an original anime having its manga adaptation release before the anime is non other than Neon Genesis Evangelion, pretty much the first original TV anime made not to sell toys, bit of useless knowledge for ya.

It is interesting to learn more about why things happen.
Fun fact: Star Wars novelization was actually released before the movie. The first issue of the comicbook adaptation came out before the movie as well.

I can handwave schoolgirls using big warships. What I cannot handwave is the amount of plot holes, mediocre characters, terrible plot, almost dull action scenes and the fact that it *wants* to be taken seriously. People compare Girls und Panzer to Haifuri, but the former at least tries to present that it's setting is not to be taken seriously and its story is passable. I cannot say the same for the latter however.

from what I see with Girls Und Panzer, I feel like they'll (Haifuri) share the same fate. They'll get a movie and OVAs :F which is better than nothing at all lol

This anime woke some curiosity out of me because of the OP, but I think I'll have to pass. Not convincing enough for me. Good review tough.

You still got your cute little girls (if i remember correctly the italian is 12 or sth), you got your planes to some degree, and you got fights.
Don´t espect a good story though. I mean the first minute of the first ep basically shows you all the "plot".
But i´d actually be for an anime with a focus on planes. I don´t necessarly need it to be with girls. I´d actually prefer some rather historical with people actually dieing. I mean is noone asking yourself how in the world noone dies in HSF and GuP? Look there are real explosions even so they use training armor. Just how?

@@Ikerot Wait till some American gets involved. But srsly, I honestly would love to see the unbuilt U.S.S. Montana, which is almost 100 ft longer than the Musashi. Besides, I already imagine what the shit that would occur would happen. A louspeaker rings out on the Montana, and the crew gets the damn thing moving, turning at Musashi guns ablaze, Thunderstruck playing in the background. Hey, I might get involved.

Im a military maniac enthusiast, but i hate military anime for the most part.
So why? because they always fuck it up.
I'm not a fanatic so I'm not too keen on the facts, but my brother is in the military and he loves military anime. He'd point out to me if some things aren't correct.
What do you mean by fuck it up? They got facts wrong or the execution is wrong? I enjoy them either way.

Let me say this in advance, i have different perspective and i respect your oppinion.
I am all about the strategy and history so i really don't give a shit about the "Story", thoug i still enjoy it. there is alot of "misinterpretation" of things about military that i know of. Label me as a guy who's alway "realistic" in taste.
i'll give you three examples of my judgement on how they are misinterpreted to be "Realistic".
In Haifuri :
when people claim it to be "Realistic" it peeves me due to the fact that no one approaches a battleship like that, even if the smoke creates blindspot for the main gun, harekaze is already about to be swiss-cheesed by the Secondary and tertiary guns. Tactics works only if you're a patrol boat against destroyers or tiny warships.
and i am very confident that a destroyer can't go well against a modern warship.
In Youjo senki:
Every enemy frontline only makes a push unless tanya is present... tanya is literally the strongest soldier at a disposal for the empire army but the enemy nations aren't even a opportunistic to take the chance to push the enemy while tanya is gone. You might say "Tanya isn't exactly known to go where", well wrong! The empire is facing multiple frontlines, which they are united and are always communicating and working together, they'd probably share the details.
Also, dying and reincarnated as a girl and joing the military at a young age is just an author's big excuse to stuff the genre called "loli"... Also, its a warcrime to hire a children for war
Girls and panzer:
i am not convinced that a Panzer IV D could drift, i do know alot about cars because im a car guy also. a tracked drifting is possible only if panzer IV D has a 2000 hp engine stuffed inside(why? Power to weight ratio).
Lastly, their tactics on killing the maus was the most silliest bullshit ever! i mean come fucking on! a simple 75mm KWK40 APCR from a PZ IV could fucking rape a maus from behind! they dont have to go all through that bullshit process but risking their Hetzer on lifting the maus and jamming the turret. Jamming a maus turret's is completely impossible no matter you look at it, we're taking about a traversing gear with a planetary gear ratio of somehere around 200-50:1
And im also pretty sure a Porsche Tiger with Nitro does not make it go fast, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT A GODDAMN TANK THAT DRIVES LIKE A PRIUS! and a nitro-boosted maybach with 2500 rpm redline will result in a geyser of goddamn oil and flames.
when i review regular animes, i always review it normally even if its battle-based and all those sorts of. but my criteria for the military animes are vastly different, probably because it's affect by the fact that i have issues with correcting everyone's misinterpretation of military knowledge, that's why i warned you about me being a maniac when it comes to this.

I know of Heavy Object, Pumpkin Scissors, and Alderamin on the Sky. Utawarerumono doesn't count as military, but eh, they go into enough wars lol
@@Ikerot There’s Zipang (which I’m watching right now.) It does incorporate an Isekai element, but really before Isekai even became popular as a genre, I think (2004).
It’s basically about a JMSDF DD that gets isekaid back to 1942 hours before the opening stages of Midway. I’m going to not say it’s good and I’m just going to say that I definitely enjoy it. I don’t like calling any shows good/bad because that is very opinionated.
