- For what it's worth, this is a video on the old Metroliner's in action blowing their K5LA's horns. Now that I'm farther than ever away from the northeast where they can be found on the Keystone Corridor and Hartford Line.
The original Metroliners pretty much existed as a flop thanks to poor design choices and trackage that left something to be desired. Luckily, Amtrak didn't give them the scrappers torch when Penn Central's trains were handed over to them. With the introduction of the new AEM-7's to help in tandem with the new Amfleet coaches, Amtrak was able to cement the standard Keystone set which arrangement of one engine, usually four Amfleet cars, and an engine.
Nowadays you can find these cab cars today albeit with introduction of Siemens' new lines of ACS-64's as well as testing made with new coaches made by them as well.
Always great hearing 9649 at 1:24 and 2:22! Definitely the best sounding horn in the fleet. It actually has an extremely rare hybrid K5LA, with an unusual #4 bell, unlike the 4A in most K5LAs.
9646 has such a musical Doppler effect, so beautiful.
I always wanted to ask someone what “Doppler Effect” was...
@@BluTransit it's when the horn sounds different when train passes
@@BluTransitThe Doppler effect basically warps sounds, so example when a train passes by with their horn blaring, the horn becomes lower pitch when the train passes you
Love it when a train shakes your camera, lol.
It's something that never gets old
I love these cab cars and ACS-64's they are cool
Great video glad to see more people creating these Metroliner Horn Compilation videos
Literally the best Amtrak K5LA ever
I love Metroliners so much, they have AEM-7 and P42DC Horns!! Especially AEM-7 and P42DC Bells!!!!
2:32 My favorite!

Awesome video
I really like this hornshow 2:15
Yea nice catches and video with good horn sailutes
You know I remember seeing the first time the Metroliners in New Haven, CT I never got the chance to ride them but I’ll miss them my question is when they retire so my question is will the Siemens Venture have a cab car for Amtrak and possibly Metro North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road?
The metroliner cabs k5la sounds like a mix of a p42 and acs64 tbh
Would just say they’re K5LA horns are like AEM-7’s except a bit more powerful
I heard these are horn from scarped AEM-7s
No. These can cars have been in use since the 80s and 90s when Keystone Service needed a cab car.
@@nickhill934 but at least we have these beautiful K5LAs
0:14 W horn remind me of aem-7s😊
Nice video
The Amtrak metroliner cab car horns kinda sound like the AEM 7s
Probably because these were all being rebuilt around the same time the AEM-7's we're being built.
All at my station
Boi I grew up next to this station practically. That is if you’re referring to Hamilton.
Bigmindcreator TS You live in hamilton??
Bigmindcreator TS I live on Burtis right in the Sqaure. Im only 15 at the moment but i grew up at hamilton back in the good old days
@@Wes8761 I grew up in Lawrence at Colonial Lake neighborhood. On a clear day, you could hear the train passing through right up to the track noises.
Wes8761 Hamilton was like a 15 minute bike ride.
What song did you use for your intro
Ujico*/Snails House songs Introduction and White Day
A lot if the KL5A Horn Sounds A lot like aem-7
These were probably retrofitted at the same time
@@RaisedLetter yea
