- Take a closer look at the first-ever BMW M4 CSL.
In a record lap on the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit, the BMW M4 CSL posted a lap time of 7 min. 15.677 sec. on the version of the track traditionally used for comparison purposes - which is 20.600 kilometres / 12.8 miles in length (it doesn’t include the straight at section T13). The official and notarised lap time for the 20.832-kilometres / 12.9 miles circuit (the complete lap) was 7 min. 20.207 sec., the best figures ever for a series-produced BMW car. The BMW M4 CSL set a new official record in the middle class segment.

Provisorial values: Fuel consumption weighted combined in l/100 km: 10.1-9.8 (WLTP), CO2 emissions weighted combined in g/km: 227-222 (WLTP)
Official data on fuel consumption and CO2 emissions were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP. Glad to see BMW M putting together in-depth videos breaking down all the special upgrades that the CS and CSL cars are getting - for the F80/F82 M3 and M4 CS cars I had to make my own since none of this marketing media existed. Kudos on that front 👍 side note, if the talent mispronounces "alloy" or "Nurburgring" or "Michelin" from the teleprompter then do another take. The hardcore BMW and race enthusiasts will notice otherwise 😉 excited to see the G82 M4 CSL on the road soon!

@@RaylonK2 Thanks for the support 👍 when going over a lot of technical data it’s difficult to remember everything, so a teleprompter is used to allow the talent or actor to relax a bit and focus on their body language and also the delivery of the message. The problem with this setup is that 1) you often seen the actors eyes scroll to read the text, but more importantly 2) there’s no passion or nuance in the delivery of the message itself because more energy is devoted to reading than speaking/feeling/conveying the awesome message. That’s why you have to do several takes, to get the flow down, the cadenced, the pronunciations. When you have a film crew, a producer, a director, and an editor they’re all acting as quality control. The visuals of the film were good, it’s the line delivery that was flat. Doesn’t take away from his amazing the M4 CSL is but it can and does erode confidence in some people that “this guy doesn’t even know how to say Nurburgring and he’s telling me about how awesome the performance of this car is?”
I made a mistake in my long term M3 CS review and pronounced “torque” as “torques” and I felt horrible after publishing it. But again, I shot, directed, edited, scored, and published it on my own. I was the only quality control person. I’d expect a team that’s dedicated to making marketing videos for BMW M to have way more quality control in place. That’s just me though. Hopefully this made sense. Again, love the M4 CSL and can’t wait to see one in real life, but we just need to tighten up that quality control on the actual video production side 👍

I wish BMW make more then a 1,000 units or at least bring some features to the regular M4 like the seats and laser taillights, I'm selling my 2022 BMW 430i to purchase a M4 but waiting to see if there going to be a facelift model releasing soon
I kinda like "new M" in black, but will kinda miss old tri-color M, but it also kind of suits the new way the M division is getting and stands for.
I was always pretty much in love with CSL, from the first time I heard E46 M3 CSL, even regular M3 was a rocket but that CSL was just something else, from the moment the guy drive me in that car I know that's gonna be my car and I was just doing the drivers licence in few months so when I passed I actually ended up buying that exact same car. I'm kinda sad that I "kissed a tree" with that car but after about 15k EUR in parts and god knows how much in labour, the car was actually as good as new and also upgraded a bit, but ended up selling the car actually for a really good profit, but regret is since second day from realizing that probably won't get another M3 (CSL) that good anymore, and now I see 100k price and with 3x more mileage that mine was and would be after rough calculation of usage...
That M4 CSL is probably first that is on par with E46 CSL in my opinion and deserves CSL badging after all, I was kinda nervous for waiting on CSL model for so long but I feel it's worth waiting and model designation well deserved and that's the only way it should be, CSL has a special place in hearts of M lovers all around the world and would not like to spoiled it with just throwing those 3 letters at every model..
Great job BMW, hope to get it delivered ASAP to enjoy track days during those beautiful sunny days, hope in late august/early september to already get the toy delivered !!! :DD

Are the seats any comfortable for daily use?
Model-specific equipment features give the BMW M4 CSL a distinctive balance between sports car purism, unrestricted everyday usability, and exclusive premium substance. The M Carbon full bucket seats for the driver and co-driver are marked out by their self-supporting CFRP structure and purposeful rejection of comfort-enhancing features. They have a fixed backrest angle, and forward/back adjustments can be made manually. The M Carbon full bucket seats also have detachable head restraints and allow the integration of a six-point belt system.

I can’t speak to the CSL seats, but I have the M Carbon Bucket seats in my base M4 and have about 3k miles in them. My only complaint about them is that they’ve utterly ruined all other car seats for me.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I think this CSL looks really good and a very special car. I love what BMW is doing much more than Mercedes. Merc has been boring for ages since they are following Audi footstep where the C E & S class look very similar. The new AMG One looks very nice, but the rest of the lineup looks very average, its like a generation behind. Look at the new GLA compared to the all new X1 m sport, I'm not even excited for the new c63 with 4 cylinder engine..
Can the outside look be available for the regular M4 Competition? Those red lines are awesome

As a BMW F82 M4 GTS owner...this G82 M4 CSL is HIGHLY disappointing! Where are all the hardcore track features ie. Rollbar w/harnesses, adjustable aero, water injection system, adjustable suspension (compression/rebound/height), lightweight wheel option, etc...

Is there any improvement on the stability of this car? I am asking, because M4 has a non positive reputation in the so called elk test (scientific measured test according to ISO 3888-2). How does it compare with the best in class(Alfa Romeo Giulia)?:

Is the M4 CSL more or less stable and safe than M4? In case of sudden obstacle, the car oversteers abruptly?
The M4 and CSL have 10 stage adjustable traction control.

@@aralfa if you’re buying an M Bmw, you should know how the car is going to respond to inputs. I have taken almost every car I’ve owned to the limit to see how it fairs. You should expect something like this to oversteer
@@PapiAndrey You are probably right Andrey, however from the images not even the professionals performing this test manage to recover from the sudden adherence loss of the rear wheels. I wonder if must of the buyers would... If you see the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the loss of adherence is definitely more sincere and easy to control. The car almost passes the test at 82km/h hitting just one cone without oversteering so quickly... I understand a track only car has different requirements, because a track has wide lanes, you won't see animals in the circuit et cetera. But on normal roads, a child or a deer or whatever might suddenly cross the road and here is where this kind of tests shows how car behaves in such circumstances. I must say, I would not feel very confident after having seen the images of the test of the M4 (and somehow of the normal 3 series in the slalom test).... I see the Giulia as a better compromise between performances and safety
@@aralfa I suspect the CSL would do better. One problem the newer BMW’s (beginning with the F30’s and eps F10’s) is the lack of feedback. The Giulia actually communicates with the driver and you know what’s going on with the car compared to the Bmw. I guess time will tell, but I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.
