As a Filipino, the sport is REALLY growing here. Despite the two main sports being basketball and boxing, there hasn't been much growth from the two. However, football is slowly becoming one of the top sports in the country. A few years ago, I went to this park and NOBODY was playing football. Now, when I go there, it's hard to even find ground to play on as there is so many people playing football. I really want the sport to be the main staple here, and right now it's looking like a true possibility.

Less people like football in South Asian countries and Oceania, is almost impossible to force or change a culture in sports that they have passion for hundred of years. Soccer is scarce in the Philippines. I grew up in Australia but what I’ve heard from my mum is that it’s mainly in the south that you see soccer played. Makes sense as boxing, weightlifting, basketball and volleyball are the predominant sports. Hopefully someday it gets popular enough that we can go to the World Cup. And even then pro Filipino players aren’t too high level, with the our captain Etheridge playing in the EFL.

Filipinos are also interested in futsal because like basketball, this one is played in a small field of play, at least this could be the alternative to play football since there's not enough to build an actual football pitch for everyone to play with for free and making stadium is pretty expensive even if it's a 20,000 seat capacity.

Same goes with European, South American, African, Middle Eastern and the majority of Southeast Asian countries that football is the dominant one
Soccer is scarce in the Philippines. I grew up in Australia but what I’ve heard from my mum is that it’s mainly in the south that you see soccer played. Makes sense as boxing, weightlifting, basketball and volleyball are the predominant sports. Hopefully someday it gets popular enough that we can go to the World Cup. And even then pro Filipino players aren’t too high level, with the our captain Etheridge playing in the EFL.
