For me Hungary and Netherlands deserve S tier. 1952-54 Hungarian team is super underrated. And Netherlands was crazy good everytime they reach a final. I would say Costa Rica also because they shocked the world in 2014, but they probaly not on a same level as a world cup squad.

The backstory about bulgarias run in 94 was that in 93 we scored a goal while the ref was blowing his whistle against France which meant we qualified but France didn't so the ref was determined to make bulgaria loose to Italy and who knows had the ref not been french Bulgaria could have been S tier.(we finished 4th cos back then if you where 4th you still got a bronze medal).
(The ref didn't give a obvious handball which would have given us a pen).😢😢😢
Algeria’s 1982 performance is underrated not because i’m algerian but that year they won against a powerful west germany and was going to the round of 16 but austria and germany played a boring match so they can both go basically throwing it away , and from that time all last group games are played in the same time so no other conspiracy’s happen 😅
That match between Austria and West Germany in 1982 Men's FIFA WC was called the "Disgrace of Gijon". It redefined the points system and fixture timings for future tournaments because of what Algeria suffered and FIFA noticing it.

Will be interesting too see what happens from now on with the new format. I know some matches at the start are bound to be boring or predictable, but theres also a lot of potenial for incredible upsets and underdog storylines.
The better teams will rise among the weaker teams... but there are going to lots of defensive games with weaker teams playing for draws...3 draws mean 3 points which will take a team to the next round as second or third placed team...

I would have rated Northern Ireland on their 1982 World Cup rather than 1958. It's difficult because in '58 they went straight into an out and out knockout quarter final whereas in '82 what could best be described as a quarter final round consisted of three team groups. I give '82 the nod over '58 because in '58 they progressed after a play-off, whereas in '82 they won their group, derailing hosts Spain's world cup on the way by sending them into a group of death with England and West Germany while Northern Ireland faced France and Austria in what looked a slightly more favourable task. They drew 2-2 with the Austrians and their game with France was effectively a winner takes all quarter final. History repeated itself from '58 as a strong French team swept an injury hit Northern Ireland team aside to progress to an infamous semi final against the Germans.

Morocco loves Croatia remember that and you should come visit and see why we love football. The talent is just getting better and 2026 we will have a much stronger team that will compete for the world cup
Hahah I like how this was pretty much D for Group Stage elim, C for Round of 16, B for Quarter Finals, A for Semis or Finalist and S for Champions. Pretty much not a single discussed point haha... but hey, my country broke this mold by getting into A without going to Semis so I'm not complaining!

I was 4 years old, watching Australia play Italy on our big TV. I looked behind me to see my dad crying at the fact that we lost to a penalty.
Just like that, our golden generation was cursed-
I’d put us at B tier just for 2022’s run. We were the worst team, coming into the tournament and we shocked everyone.
That penalty still hurts, first World Cup I watched as a kid.
Indonesia at the World Cup was so awful. The closest time they qualified for this biggest stage was 1986. They lost to Korea Republic on a second to last rounds of AFC qualifiers.
But with U-17 World Cup taking place this year in our country, as well as the fact that they had won SEA Games football tournament with some young prospects and the expansion of World Cup format itself to 48 teams, we still had a slight chances.

I think ranking my country (🇨🇲) in B-Tier is fair, despite how I feel about our exit in the Quarter Finals, but I'd also like to shout out my countries performance in 1982. We left the tournament undefeated drawing with eventual tournament champs Italy and Third place team Poland.

I think Iran's run in 2022 was even better than in 2018, even though they lost 6:2 to England, but their win against Wales was miraculous in my opinion and against the US in the final match they were very close.

2022 Iran was pretty ass. If Zimmerman didn't do that stupid foul on Bale Wales wouldnt have gotten a point in group play. And it was not close against the US they held possesion the whole game. And that's not adding in the political drama where they tried to embarass the US Captain with the pronunciation of the country Iran and trying to race bait on the international level.
Iran was even closer in 2018 I would say, Taremi hit the side netting with the last chance of the game on a big chance

Fair assessment of all teams who ever played in the WC, although I think you should consider former teams like Czech and USSR. And South Korea deserve a higher ranking for their semifinals appearance, because the reasoning of suspicious could be applied to the only time England made in the finals in 1966- where there were many questionable decisions from refs, and the kicking out of Pele allowed by an English ref. In fact Pele retired after the abuse suffered in 66, and the next WC saw the introduction of yellow and red cards...
As a matter of fact, in that World Cup Ratín, captain of the albiceleste squad was sent to the showers against England by a very questionable decision and then England won of course.
But on it's way to the lockers, Ratín unleashed a hell. He spat on the british flag placed in the corner of the field and blew his nose on it, insulted the british audience and mocked the Queen who was watching the game from the seats. It was a big public scandal and draw a lot of attention to the game.
And that's the actual reasson why in the next World Cup red and yellow cards were introduced.
About my country's best performance, Bulgaria, all the blame of loosing on the first place was the referee, as Stoichkov said "God was Bulgarian, but the referee was french"

You should put Algeria B instead of C because they made a really good performance. Germany had an absolutely insane striker by the name of Gerd Muller who would be the owner of most goals in a world cup for decades until it was a snapped by Ronaldo Nazario.
And Brazil literally had the greatest team to ever exist at that very moment in time. Pele, Rivelino, Jairzinho, Tostao, Carlos Alberto. And Peru really forced Brazil to play their best because Peru tried to play man-for-man that match. They lost but it was with dignity.
