- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is the latest video game based on DC Comics and enters the Batman: Arkham Universe five years after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight. It marks Rocksteady's first major release since 2015 and features a mind-controlled Justice League as a consequence of Brainiac's invasion. The Justice League roster includes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern, while playable characters from the Suicide Squad include Harley Quinn, Deadshot, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang. Instead of developing Kill the Justice League, WB should've focused on a Bat-Family game where Red Hood, Nightwing, and Robin are playable characters.

Imagine if suicide squad had arkham combat. Deadshot plays like red hood, harley like she was in her DLC, boomerang just throws a bunch of battarangs that are boomerangs, and king shark plays like a titan thug

When the game was announced this is what I was expecting. A very simple but effective combat system that feels so smooth to use. Absolutely smashed it in the Arkham games. When I saw the gameplay trailer I was beyond baffled.

@@moshymosh Batman can basically fly in Arkham Knight, it's not difficult at all to get a boost and it's so easy to control you might as well fly around the entire map, it wouldn't take much to convert something like that into regular flight. Then add in the Batmobile's mechanics of destroying everything in your path if you're not careful. You would still have to take invulnerability and stuff into account, put on a video game characters are overpowered and they still make that work.
@@moshymosh Kryptonite weapons, Supes stuck on a planet where he has to build a suit to feed him solar radiation to keep him or get him back to full strength, kryptonite in the atmosphere that limit what supes can do in certain areas that open up more abilities as he clear areas, magic and magic based enemies, being stuck in a magic based dimension, being infected with kryptonie or magic based poisoning and having to cure supes to get more of his abilities and by the end he's working at full strength, a superman game where he's learning his powers from thw start, a superman game where he's hanging with the legion of super heroes in the future where there's plenty of strong people, stripping him of his involunerability and making it so supes cant work at full power until he gets it back. There's plenty more, the DC universe is full of strong people. Crazy thing is majority of my list are things that have happened to or variations of things supes has gone through or another version of him has done or gone through.
If you don't have the imagination or haven't read or paid attention to aspects of super man's lore that would be fun to build a game around just say so. How ever the whole "it's boring to play as a god" argument is old and lacks imagination. Hell half of action games let you replay the game with all your powers unlocked from the start and people love that.
There are ways to make a superman game that makes sense. People need to stop being lazy and partying the same dumb ass argument that was old before it was even being used.

Also, I acknowledge you have to "game-ify" the flight for a Superman game. Making certain inputs necessary and creating a sense of building speed by way of the player's expertise. That doesn't mean it can't be done, so why are you trippin'?

Frankly, they should have made a Wonder Woman game as she tries to free the JL members from Braniac’s control. You free Batman first, given his position as the brains of the JL. With him, you work on freeing Flash and Green Lantern. Last, you save Superman given he is the strongest out of everyone so everyone works together to beat him. Then, as a team, they confront Braniac again who tries to control them, fails, and then the entire JL works together to take him out. Also, it is NOT part of the Arkham-verse.
What I told my friends was a simpler idea to make it work was to make a Ultimate alliance type of game. Start with suicide squad since
A. of course they would be the only ones left alive like in the beginning
And b. Because the actors really do a great job anyways since they are all a clash of personalities
Then have them find other heroes and villians to defeat brainiac since he was able to brainwash superman. But make batman question himself like instead of trying to kill Harley, make it like in the movie where he says something like "I'm not strong enough" to show that he is trying to break free since, you know, Batman is HIM

Batgirl is Cassandra Kain (playstile is a mix of Batgirl [Arkham Knight] and younger Bruce [Origins Initiation DLC])
Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood have their playstyles.
Huge problem with this idea is that the Bat Family, especially Tim Drake, would not want to team up with Jason Todd after the events of Arkham Knight. He brought an army to take over Gotham, which resulted in Bruce being unmasked on live TV, and kidnapped Barbara.

That game turned into Gotham Knights. On Reddit someone leaked a bunch of concept art for the game if you’re interested. Looks like they kept the map from that game so there are remnants of it left.

Talking as someone who HATES Arkham Knights Story and agrees with all your points, thats all the more reason WHY they should've made a Batfamily game. It could've fixed Jason's character (he was good for his, like, 20 seconds of dialog in his dlc), introduced Cassandra & Steph as their "Batman & Batgirl" replacements, introduce Damian (Talia's body was missing in Arkham Knight and a Damian game was apparently considered alongside Batman Beyond) and they could've even put a focus around Harley trying to heal and move on from Joker (she was f'ing HORRIBLE in the Arkham-verse, but her dlc showed that it was at least in part thanks to a multiple personality she developed with Joker, Harleen seemingly a good...-ish person.)

I agree 100%. They could've made a game centering the Batfamily. Have Red Hood, Nightwing, Oracle and Robin. Couldve even included Azrael and Catwoman in Batman's absence. They could've introduced players to new characters such as Cassandra Cain/the second Batgirl, Stephanie Brown/Spoiler, Luke Fox, and Kate Kane/Batwoman (who was mentioned in Arkham Knight).
It’s hinted that Kate Kane is bat woman in the Arkham verse in a voice msg so that could have been the fourth with oracle as support. Oracle could have also had playable parts like the commander role from bf4 looking over the map supporting the team.
Damian should be included.

Honestly the rocksteady we once knew is too far gone to even want them to return to even trust with batman again. If monolith deliver a great game with Wonder Woman then they absolutely should be the new guys to take a crack at a new Batman game featuring the nemesis system. If there’s one thing good you can take from rocksteady still is that they are really good at developing engaging traversal mechanics I personally think they’d be better off making taking on a solo flash project
It would have been really cool if the game started off with you trying to defeat a mind-controlled Batman, and then the game becomes a Batman: Save the Justice League game.
Game idea: I think and Azrial/ robin and Nightwing game would be amazing.
The story is is that after the events of Arkham Knight robin(tim drake) has to work with Nightwing to minimize the city's out of control crime because bloodheavens criminals are rushing in to take advantage of the confusion after their riots caused by Scarecrow's fear toxin and they run into azrael who's trying to become the new Batman but is still too violent so robin and nightwing have to stop him from taking it to far. The main villains wild be the Order that controlled Azrael
And to make the fans happy half way(or the end) of the game u investigate the murder of black mask leading back to the Arkham Knight dlc that Red Hood is in action.
10:02 what's annoying is every single guide explicitly says nightwing is the only one equal to batman and the best fighter batman ever trained, the only time its shown is in arkham vr when a bloodlusted batman fights a holding back nightwing and manages to fend him off with a broken jaw and arm, there is soo much potential here instead of suicide squad

When I heard about the Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad games being announced, and one of them was a sequel to the Arkham series, and Gotham Knights had a dead Batman with the Bat family trying to pick up the pieces and move forward to carry the legacy, I assumed Gotham Knights was the sequel. I really, really wish it had been. This has all been a waste of potential.
I would have liked an Arkham story that followed up from Arkham Knight by adding Cassandra Cain to the Bruce-less Bat Family. She would be the fourth character added to fill the Batgirl space, with Dick or Tim as the team leader (I say Tim because, unlike Dick, he stays in Gotham).
Cassandra could serve as a character in that middle space between "no killing" Dick and Tim and "definitely killing" Jason, a former young assassin who wants to change her ways. She could be the youngest in the group unfamiliar with Bat stuff or the rogues gallery, and thus used to tutorialize the player about the gadgets and combat.
Could have also easily made a Batman: Arkham Beyond game with Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle

A game where you play as these 3 directly after arkham knight and they have to fend off gothams crime and solve bruce’s “death”. Have nightmare batman be the end fight and have batman say “this was a test… now i know gotham can be protected without me” and then he goes and joins the JL
It shouldn't be this hard to produce new story content for a Suicide Squad game. I mean, i dont like the whole killing the JL aspect, but if they had to continue it, what if they added new missions where you have to kill other Justice League members, such as Aquaman, Cyborg, Hawkman or Captain Marvel?

For those of you that played the Batman sections of this game you’ll notice how they feel like they are taken out of a different game. They are so well done it’s so drastic when comparing it to other parts of the game. I think this was a completely different game up until WB was having money problems and Microsoft almost bought out their gaming division. They then changed course and turned it into a liveservice looter shooter. It makes no sense that this took 9 years. Something happened behind the scenes

While I wouldn't have minded a Bat Family game, I firmly believe WB Games Montreal was working on a Batman Beyond while Rocksteady was working on a Superman game.
If there's one thing I noticed about the formating of the Arkham series and where they wanted to take the franchise -- it has a striking resemblance to how the DCAU began with BTAS, then STAS and Batman: Beyond, then finally going into Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.
I'm pretty confident that was Rocksteady's initial plan - to make a videogame version of the early of the DCAU.
