One of 2 things will happen from this, they will either make changes in the guidelines not allowing it again or there will be more people competing in categories like this. Regardless, you just made an impact on DCA and are a 5 time World Champ. Well done sir, well done.
given the low barrier of entry thing I can't see them being soo uptight about this that they are going to change the rules and to not allow for this to happen again. I think making the rules say something like this can't happen ever again would be slightly hypocritical of a competition with such a low barrier to entry.
Also who in the right mind would make their own wacky instrument just to compete with Eric

You seriously missed a perfect opportunity to call the bass drums the “contrabass tenors.”
You realize how dumb this is right? “Tenor” already being a descriptor of pitch… you can’t have a “bass tenor” so you would just switch the word tenor and you’d get “bass drums”… oh wait!

for us, the mega tenors are what normal tenors look like for non percussionists
You're what we need in this world of Percussion. With everything getting more and more cut throat of "what can we do next", you're out here pushing boundaries while having the greatest time of your life. I'm positive that it took a lot of practice to get these solo's. We could hear the one thousandth sad story about "loss", "the adventure", "what it means to be", but no one is out here doing the crazy things you are, and for that, I appreciate you.

What I liked is you had FUN! You played to the crowd, and they fed it back to you. Great job. Would have been happier if my old team (Cabs) had won, but hey, you can't get everything you want!
As a tenor player (alumni) I gotta say, excellent solo on the mega-tenors! . . . even if there were a handful of rim clicks on sweeps . . .

It reminded me of the time when I saw King Crimson in around 2018 and one of the drummers (they had three at the time) had a drum with a little tube to blow into and change the sound similarily.

Growing up, I was in select coral groups, so I understand the long hours of practice and dedication behind the music, especially at a competitive level. EMC, thank you, you are typical of any who competes in DCI and goes on to greater things, like your service with the USMC. The gift of music, and the discipline it brings to those of us who gladly receive it, last a lifetime. Congratulations on your well-earned awards. Fantastic work.

nothing makes me happier than seeing that the saints had a few i&e performances this year. the years of struggle and strife that corps goes through makes me happy that they still push out content, and march year after year. 4 year member from that corps, their shift to dca was hard but nice to see ❤️
