I had the pleasure to attend a concert of Van Canto at a small local open air a week ago in northern Germany. Their live performance is absolutly amazing. There is no instrument other than the drum set.
Great reaction, Maddy! I'd not heard this group before, but saw a comment describing them as metal acapella. I planned to check them out since I really like Home Free. Pretty cool sound (even with the drum set). I will definitely look for more.
Everyone I've ever shared this band with has the same reaction. First, they laugh and are unsure what to think. Then they start to get used to it. Then by the end they realize how good all these vocalists are. Thanks for reacting to this band. They don't get nearly enough exposure.
Flag at the beginning is just an artistic expression. Van Canto sometimes does something with their intros, e. g. in another song they made a Napalm Record's intro sound (build-up and explosion) with their voices too. For anyone interested about guitar solo - it's actually made with the voice using heavy distortion on the mic. On their official channel there's a tutorial on how to do it, and they've performed hundreds of times live to further prove that it's just voice with distortion, and not a lip sync for a sampled guitar solo.

The solo is sung through a guitar amp. So he mimics a clean guitar and that audio is then distorted.

Wow, I've not heard a song performed like that. The woman singer sounded like Kate Bush... ish.
