A lot of people will probably give you names of their covers. But they have some really good originals. "The seller of souls", "Lost forever" or "My voice". If you want an inbetween their music video for "Badaboom" also have a couple of covers from Metallica, Sabaton, and Ozzy. A good live video would be "To sing a metal song" at Wacken
I'm a Van Canto Fan for about 15 years now, they never, realy never, disappointed me, whatever they are doing. First song i ever heard of them was *the Mission*, i would highly recommend it, or their cover of Iron Maiden's *Fear of the dark* or * Seller of Souls* or *Into the forest* or*If i die in battle*..or...or... I better stop right now or there will be no end.

These are some of their own songs and they're bloody brilliant
it doesn't matter if something is 'true' or not - the important thing is if it is awesome or not - and Van Canto is awesome. when i first discovered them on youtube - i thought - that cant work live, so fortunatly, they had a show pretty soon after not to far away - after that show i was hooked and i have seen them more live then any other band.
In some of their covers they do have original artists of the group they are covering. Whether they qualify as A Capella I don't know, but I do know they sound amazing. The only A Capella group that I know that never uses anything but the human voice is Eclipse 6, they have a disclaimer at the start of every video stating that "Every thing you hear is made 100% by the human voice."
Their new album will be released 4th of June! And Hagen (Leadsinger) is awesome!!! They have 2 bases! And whichever song you pick from Van Canto, it will be awesome! But my favorites would be "If I die in Battle", "Fight for your life", "The Other Ones", "Battery"-Cover and of course "The Mission"

I'm a long time VC fan and I like their original lead, Sly, but this got does Brian very well.
They also do great xollahorations. My fave song is a cover of Grave diggers "Rebellion", with the singer from that band. The video is a comp with fans from all over the world. More bands should do that.
On the new Album (coming out 4th june) there will be another acdc Cover from thunderstruck.

Aaaaaand... if u like hagens range of voice... you have to check out "Desert Snake" ... He is growling and screaming and singing just epic normal in this Song from von canto.
They have some videos up on their channel, explaining how they do the guitar sound and everything else…
I suggest Wishmaster (Nightwish) or Kings of metal (Manowar) for your next Van Canto reaction. Also check out their version of The Wellerman, it's really good

You should check a live performance of them, at Wacken: "Fear of the Dark" or "Badaboom".
The official style is RAKATAKKA-Metal
Drums are considered non-melodic instruments, and therefore they would still be considered "true" accappella. BUT they use mods on their mikes and a guitar-amp on their voices for effects, and that is definetly not true acappella anymore.

I think to say they aren’t “true” acapella is a total discredit to their vocal abilities..
For true a capella, all you need is no instruments accompanying the vocalist(s). And it's impossible to play a tune on a drum kit. You can play rhythms; quite complex rhythms if you know what you're doing, but you'll never play a _tune._ Result: you can play backing rhythms for singers, but you can't accompany them. Van Canto is true a capella in my book; unaccompanied voices backed by a drummer.
Besides, there ain't a beatboxer in the world with enough wind to get through a 40 minute metal concert. I'm just sayin' is all.

Think I heard about Van Canto first in 2005. They do some awesome covers and songs of their own. Bald goatee dude (Ross Thompson) does the higher notes. Bald dude with beard (Jan Moritz) is the bass along with the long-haired one (Ingo Sterzinger).
