- Well that's one way to announce your arrival in the Southeastern Conference. Mike Leach and the Mississippi State Bulldogs strolled into Death Valley and walked out with a major upset win of the defending national champions. While many were counting the Bulldogs out before the season began, Leach showed just how potent his pass happy Air Raid offense can be against...well anyone.

@@butter3413 I think it would be Max Johnson first because of the way Coach O. has been talking him up most of the summer. The last time I heard him talk backup QBs he was saying great things about them both though, but said they are freshmen and still have a ways to go. I Think Myles will get better once he gets more game experience. He looked like a deer in the headlights the first half, but settled down more as the game went on. He had 345 yards with some bright spots, but it was ugly most of the game. And LSU looked horrible at just about every position at one time or another in that game, from O-line to safety and everything in between.
He wasn't bad. The secondary was horrific and cost them the game

That was an disgraceful defense with only 1 of there DBs out, stingily. They had 2-3 DBs on the field under 170 and no experience against something like that. LSU got exposed, and it’s going to happen again.

An offense is mediocre if cannot run and pass efficiently. 2012 had a great running game but a pedestrian passing attack. AJ McCarron is the key to your passing game and was like the 40th most productive QB that year, not even close to special. I'm sure he went to the NFL and continued to be mediocre.
Since then every champ has had great RB, QB, and WR talent. Technically the 2015 Bama team might not have had that great of a QB/Passing game either but if feel like the WR talent made up for it.
Bama has had several teams where there the defense was so good they barely needed an offense.

I knew our talent was young and inexperienced but I wasn’t expecting to look like newborns. Miss St offense looks fucking legit regardless though.
And I was so looking forward to the Texas-LSU rematch.
Miss St offense does look good, but it didn't look like coach Bo was even trying to adapt to it. They played man the whole game when it was obvious after the first quarter that wasn't working. I really hope this is just an outlier on so many levels because there were problems at every position for a good part of the game. The players just didn't looked prepared. And I understand the abnormal preseason, but every team has had to figure this out. Miss St offense is very good though, but I'm not sure how they would do against a top tier defense like last years Georgia team. I guess we'll find out though
Calm down. The experienced players for LSU had a combined 20 snaps. They practically did field newborns against experienced players. 2nd and 3rd string LSU vs 1st Of most teams would have the same result. MSU looked good, but not great. LSU also hurt themselves with penalties that kept MSU on the field. MSU also had turnover issues.

I saw the line at -16.0 LSU. As an LSU fan, knowing that we were playing a potent passing offense and having all underclassmen at DB and LB, I thought that was nuts. I never gamble, but I knew we had no chance on that spread. I was nervous we'd lose and, apparently, rightfully so.

@Martin McCormick Ensminger brought in that offense and had complete control of what went into the playbook. He also called 80% of the plays; play calling wasn’t the problem it was execution. The “mastermind” is still at the helm.

As a Kentucky fan I expected better from the Cats vs Auburn. Best Oline in the country did not look like it. Defense was a HUGE disappointment. Oh well, maybe they can work out the kinks and go 5 & 5. Definitely not what I was expecting from such an experienced, deep team!! Congrats to State on their huge win!
Wasn't able to watch the game live. Yet I knew it was bad when youtube highlights actually recommended to go see LSU-Clemson game. I really can't recognize this team. I hope Coach O finds a way to fix the team or it will really be a long season.

He will until teams prepare out of byes for miss state with nothing but coverage and zone defense. Then his running backs will be legit no factor.
Calm down. Leach did this stuff in the big 12 and Pac12 one week, then get blasted the next. When his offense is working, it's hot. When it's not working, his offense is lack luster and really ineffective. Now he should have more success with SEC recruits on offense but he's also going against SEC recruits on defense.
All SEC defensive coordinators are seriously reevaluating their programs right now. Mike leach is going to make things interesting and M State fun to watch....I'm gonna miss him on Pac-12 after dark tho
