    This video will show you how I replaced the transmission fluid on a 2007 Chevrolet Impala without removing the transmission oil pan since the pan does not have a fluid drain plug. By detaching the transmission fluid return line (that leads from the top of the radiator back to the transmission), you can run a drain hose from the radiator (via an output port adapter) into a waste container to capture the old fluid. Simply start the car and the transmission's torque converter will start pumping out the ATF. Shut off the engine when approximately 3 quarts of fluid has drained out and replenish with new via the ATF dip stick port/tube. Repeat the process until the pumped out ATF turns red (usually around 8 quarts). And there you have it. A fluid transfer of the old ATF replaced with new ATF.

    Would you recommend doing this process before a filter change or after? I just installed a “new” (used) transmission of another impala and don’t know its history and wanted to have a baseline record on everything.

      Had a top fill I just couldnt see it ..the wire harness right there was sagging hiding it lol thanks ... I have a quick ?...what does the wire plug on the drivers side behind the fender connect too? its the plug in thats connected to the harness next to the headlight...my missus took the ditch instead of a deer and smashed the bumper and bent the cross member which I replaced...lots of the plastics were damaged and I must of removed whatever that plug attaches too...the only thing that doesnt work is the high beams which I will work on tomorrow and im getting a check air bag message .. thanks again @@hardlymovingpro

      @@hardlymovingpro yeah the ABS is a separate harness this connector comes off of the head light harness and goes into the area inside the fender...having a heck of a time finding any pics of that...thot maybe the other part to it was under the breather box but nothing under there.... in the brief pics I see of that area it looks like there should be a wire harness that goes from the windshield area down to it...the only thing thats not working are the high beams

    wrong way of flushing the transmission. this is the exact reason why car companies dont put drain plugs on the transmission pans anymore so people have to drop them so they change the filter also. and what your doing is a waste of time and could cause pre mature transmission failure due to having a dirty transmission filter where fluid is not getting through the transmission even though the fluid is new and clean.

    • @GwinnettLawns
      @GwinnettLawns Před rokem

      It’s not flushing the transmission. Flushing the transmission requires running a chemical cleaner through it then removing the fluid and replacing it. What he did was a fluid exchange remove the old fluid replaced with new fluid. There’s no flushing that’s occurring at all. And this will in no way home the transmission.
