Lexus ES 300 330 350 Passenger Side Split CV Axle Replacement
This video will show you how to replace the right passenger side split axle shaft on the Lexus ES300, ES330 and the ES350. The inner grease boot had split and leaked out grease leading to bearing wear; hence, installing a new boot and repacking grease was not a viable long term solution. A new CV axle made by Cardone was selected as an axle replacement.
A 12 point 30 mm nut is used by Lexus to hold the axle to the wheel hub. To remove this nut, you'll need a 12 point socket in lieu of a 6 point. A 6 point cannot be substituted for a 12 point; it just won't fit.
The center bearing of the split axle is support to the engine block via a "bearing carrier". Rust tends to build up over time where the center bearing slides into the bearing carrier. Apply a generous amount of penetrating oil on the bearing carrier and give it around 24 hours to do its job. The center bearing should then be able to slide out without much resistance. If it stills stays frozen in the bearing carrier, you can use a long punch tool and hammer to push it out.
When pulling the axle out of the transmission some transmission fluid may leak out. Whatever amount that comes out can be replenished via the ATF dip stick tube.

Absolutely. Easiest way to check for existing pressure is the remove the service port caps and push down on the schrader valves. If gas leaks out, there's still refrigerant in the system.

Only way to check the compression and rebound of a strut is to remove the spring. Which requires removing the strut and using spring compressors ... a lot of work. Being a 13 year old Corolla with 200km, I'd replace them. Should notice an improvement in ride quality. Also look for oil stains at the lower spring seats. If there, that indicates the internal strut oil has been leaking.

The driving, the vibrations and bumps of truck motion wiggles the window back down. Gotta figur3 a way to get to the regulator and prop that window shut from inside the door!! What pain. And I don't have the funds to have it repaired. It's a back window, so it will pass inspection.

As soon as I drove it, by the time I was back home, the window had pull the tape partially loose and the window slid down and left a gap. Reapplied the tape, this time, top and both sides. Still dropped part way down! I think it's possessed!! It's a devil window!!!!😂😂😂😂 It's not the motor but I can't remember what the mechanic called it.

Thank you so much for this great video. It helped me a lot. I have a 2008 Sienna here with 180,000 miles. The passenger side spring was broken near the base and both rear control arms were corroding pretty bad. I wire brushed away and washed the control arms multiple times with soapy water then sprayed rust converter followed by a flat black hard enamel rust paint. We'll see if that buys me a few more years of life. Anyways had no issues removing the old equipment - the old springs were rusted into their seats so I had to work them more, use my trusty flat heat screwdriver and a couple of different sized pry bars but I got'em. The old shocks, although heavily corroded, actually performed pretty good. The replacement springs were Moogs (box cut) and seemed heavier than the ones being replaced (which were tapered). For the life of me I could not get those springs to seat so I rented a coil spring compressor tool from Canadian Tire (which if you don't damage and return within 3 days becomes a free rental - keep all your paperwork!). After fiddling around with the the spring compressor to figure out how to best use it and making sure the bolt head that you turn to compress is pretty much centered I compressed the springs about 3/4" of an inch - that was enough to get them to seat - and thankfully both spring installs mirrored each other very well. Then I washed up the original shock dust boots, squished in the the new shocks 3 times each (letting them fully extend in-between) and got some extra hands to feed the shock in to start the nuts. From there on it was pretty close to the rest of your video. Except I needed to used a small 2x4 chunk and mallet to tap the shocks onto their mounting studs. Thanks Again!

I’m taking my wheel bearing assembly off the issue I’m having is my bolts that keep the assembly attached to the car just aren’t coming out. Rusted to all hell because they haven’t had work done in years. I got my car from my girlfriends family friend and I know for a fact they haven’t done any wheel bearing stuff to it. I’ve had issues with the rusty bolts before but the one is just not coming at all. Than the T50 bolt that keeps it attached to the control arm is stripped so I can’t get it to spin out at all. So I was wondering if you had any tips other than WD-40 to get it to pop off I only have my socket set and some other tools but no impact guns because I’m only 24 and have no money 😂

Plan B. Go to the salvage yard and get a non rusty control arm with the hub attached. Then remove the old control arm with the old hub.

Hey! Awesome content man! Do you recall how tight the center top strut nut has to be when torquing down? Looking to do this soon on 13 RDX.. Also what brand shocks were these? Thank you!

Thanks! I've been happy with the brand FCS. With the top strut shaft nut, just torque it down with a 1/2" socket wrench. Doesn't have to be super tight.

More and more aftermarket parts retailers are selling a new pair of valve covers with new seals and gaskets for under $100. Believe that's you easiest option IMHO. Check out Amazon.com

This was very helpful! The aux replacement on this vehicle is so unnecessary. Hardest battery replacement I have ever done.

Is Axle nut required to be removed on 13 RDX? I have seeing some folks don’t remove the Axle nut to do this job on this car. Ty.

another question is unscrewing the steering knuckle a must to just change out the rotor hub? can’t you just slide the new one in after the old is taken out??
