You could say that about a lot of entertainers! But you can tell- Beyonce was willing to work hard at her talents. J-Hud - like Whitney - was brought up in the church - that paved the way for their strong vocals! But they cannot dance like Beyonce' & she cannot sing like them. But they chose to master & work hard! It paid off for Beyonce' & J-Hud! ( Whitney not so much - but her songs will last forever - in our hearts) DP - will benefit financially- from her song too!
All I can say is that Beyonce is a great dancer/ performer!

Neither girl or character wrote the song. The scene is a depiction of how the music industry was for black talent back then. Colorism was real. Darker skinned black women and men often had their big songs re recorded by lighter skinned black ppl and whites. Elvis Fran Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald and Lena Horne were often tapped to sing songs first recorded by darker skinned black ppl and then able to become big hits. I am terrified by the young generation because they cant recognize history of this great nation if it bit them in the eye. Technology advances rapidly but human nature does not. When we refuse to acknowledge legitimate history we are destined to repeat its errors. Odd for you to say you're sure Beyonce wrote the song. Do you know Beyonce to be a song writer? I love Bey and Jennifer and can tell you neither women nor character wrote this song or most of the songs they expertly sing.
