    Ryan
As I’ve said before, I went to flight school in the late 70’s with the intention of going to the mission field possibly even in the PNG. As I watched this video I reflected on how much more difficult it would have been without all the technology we have now. I’m sure it would have been a big struggle for me. Even now with over 40 years of experience I am impressed with your skill in your job. Thank you.

I couldn't imagine doing this kind of mountain flying without GPS and terrain mapping like that.

in the Idaho back country, your 80/20 is what we call our "canyon maneuvering configuration". safe speed above stall but slow enough to do a 180° turn essentially in its own wing span.
in my turbo 206, 17"MP, 20° of flaps got me 70kts indicated. The bird could da a 180 tighter then a VW Bug!
    Great video

When I started college, I worked for a guy that owned a small janitorial service. We basically cleaned offices at industrial companies, easy but steady work. Early on, we were chatting about careers and I asked him "why be a janitor?". His response floored me and got me thinking.
He'd been an F4 fighter pilot in Vietnam, then retired and became a well-paid commercial pilot for PSA. He considered his work for PSA as being a "bus driver", boring and subject to "idiotic management". Being his own boss and having some job variety, was far more important than money. Which has been my philosophy of work ever since, although enjoying my work as more important than being my own boss.
Keep it interesting, Ryan! God continue His blessings on you.

As always an excellent demonstration of attention to detail, skill and professionalism. If all pilots were as competent as Ryan most of the crashes we are seeing today would not happen.

Aviation and especially general aviation is as safe as the pilot wants to make it. Decision making should always be safety oriented and with no external pressure or get-there-itis

What a fascinating return flight. It cracks me up how you never land on that beautiful long Goroka runway but on the footpath next to it!!!! Some emotion at 16:55. Love it. Maybe you've mentioned this in the past but sometimes there is chatter on the radio. Do you ever listen to this? Do you know who or what they are talking about? Or just ignore completely if its not for 'November Tango Kilo'? Excellent video. Thank-you

To give a perspective on the difficulties of flying in the New Guinea weather, on just one bombing mission to Hollandia in WW2 no aircraft were lost to enemy action, but 37 were lost due to weather on the way back from the target.

    • @MissionaryBushPilot

No, but staying Vfr makes your life much easier because there isn't a good IFR structure for small airplanes like ours. We basically use our own established company IFR routes.
