- Hao's only hope is that his grandson Mark enters a prestigious university, but Mark's dream is to follow in his grandfather's footsteps and become a chef and take over the family restaurant. Due to Hao's difficult personality, the restaurant is on the verge of bankruptcy and he finally collapses. In order to save the restaurant, Mark enters a cooking contest without his grandfather's knowledge and consent in Shanghai. He competes against talented chefs from Japan, Korea, and Australia, and freely shows off the ravishing cooking skills that he has accumulated from his grandfather over the years. As Mark wins round after round and gains attention, Julia, the contest producer notices something peculiar about him, then slowly realizes that Mark and her husband David resemble each other.

I really miss my dad, he passed away when I was three. I kept on crying while watching the movie.
I stumbled upon this heartwarming old movie while looking up info on Henry Lau,the famous genius singer-songwtiter, dancer who recently held a One-man show in Melbourne!He is a Chinese-Canadian based in S. Korea & China.He was still v.young in this movie. You can also watch him in A Dog's Journey tht came out a few yrs ago.

Dunno why this film hasn't got more views... it's a really nice family film that leaves you with a very good feeling at the end. I really enjoyed it, so thanks for the translation and subs! On the downside, it also leaves you hungry for a chinese take-away!!

Thank you for this beautiful movie. Made my eyes water with joy to see them come together and forgive and mend long time broken hearts. The grandpa can now rip knowing everything was made good with son, grand son, and the lady who married his son, the grandma nana lady was super cute, too.
Wonderful movie - roller coaster ride of emotions, where even the passing of grandpa is muted by the gathering of family paying respect and love for his influence and love for them ❤

An awesome movie. The family reunion was on point. There's no lagging. No unwanted scenes. But, I think if you have seen the Chinese movie COOK UP A STORM, you may find some similarities.

Wow this movie is good but with a little twist of comedy and I like it. The story is also fine and it tells about a persons passions for cooking,father/son bonding and also the love of the father to he’s son whom he taught died in a fire accident. I was touched when the father found out that the person he’s competing with is he’s own son,and finally reunited with he’s beloved son. The actor who played mark in the movie is very familiar to me, he’s one of the famous Korean actor and I cannot pinpoint he’s name?. Anyways nice movie so far for me..👍👍
