The well known issue with Jae is that, as an Officer, she is suboptimally built. Most notably, she does not have Seize the Initiative, Air of Authority, or the resolve-boosting talents you’d normally expect for this archetype. Instead, she has a unique Gunslinger talent, proficiency with Aeldari and Drukhari weapons, and at least one questionable characteristic advance. She also picked arguably the weakest upgrades for her Finest Hour heroic (i.e. she does not have the one that refunds an AP for every kill). The end result is a hybrid who doesn’t excel at anything. As an officer, you’d almost never want her to attack, so her weapon skills are wasted. And if you decide to employ her as a gunslinger, she still won’t be as effective a fighter as Argenta or other character dedicated to combat. Hence, you wouldn’t want any other officer in the party to give their turns to her. Worse, her officer levels are set in stone and cannot be rebuilt, at least without a mod. She can be salvaged to some degree if Grand Strategist is chosen as her second archetype, as she at least will act first and can provide some of the buffs at the beginning phases of combat. Master Tactician could work too and would buff both her own damage potential (through Press the Advantage and Inspire) and the Resolve of party members (e.g. through Linchpin). However, she loses the advantage of a guaranteed turn before the enemy. And she will still never be as good as an Officer built from scratch. Her unique buffs to many skills based on faction reputation is a nice boon but redundant if you have party members that already cover those skills. In short, the opportunity cost of taking her over a custom built officer isn’t favorable.
@@wyomingsioux This is not the first or last OC game where suboptimal is more then fine to handle the game. To each their own but I like not having a party full of min maxed munchkins. So I will take Jae over a custom officer every time. When I get to my 3/4 run of a game do I start to expand past the default because I want to try different builds, not more optimized or OP. But really my comment about her not making Bro's team was just in jest. As he said Mar is the last companion you get, leaving Jae out.

The damage calculation on Killing Edge is indeed very bugged. According to the ability description, the %bonus dmg that you get when hitting an opening should only affect the flat dmg bonus given by the ability itself, and not the whole dmg of the attack as shown here. This sadly means the damage will be much lower when the ability is eventually patched. I just hope they don’t overnerf it, as an assassin class really needs a strong execute-type ability to feel good to play IMO.

After watching your other vids, I built him pretty much the same way. Dont 100% recall if you mentioned it in Pasqal and Cassia builds, there is a plasma rifle for Pas with + Int (not bonus) damage on it and I replaced Castigating staff with Red Crystal for attacking spell spam on Cassia. For a lot of players trying unfair without blobbing with Soldiers Camaraderie and 4 officers, I recommend Blitz strategem on Grand Strategist for hit and run - careful coz it can be bugged if you are not moving in a straight line. It helped massively in the Haunted Voidship Magos battle and in Janus final fight with the heretic official. Should check out Jae's bonuses from faction rep as well, I just found them - really interesting. Last but not least, colony reward medkits OP.

With Incendia being recruited in the dogmatic and ico runs and Calligos being recruited alongside Uralon in the heretical path so far. With the best situtation for Calligos being bugged at the moment an unrecheble.

You need to activate it first for 2 AP, then you get the actual Slash ability for 0 AP. But it requires you to be directly next to the enemy, at least for attacking with it for 0 AP.
