Here is a POV view of Jacks Rake from Stickle Tarn. Classed as a grade 1 scramble, there are parts between 30 degrees and 50 Degrees of incline. It’s an incredible climb.
I love the Lake District, done Striding edge and halls fel ridge on blencathra. Scrambling is great fun , your ( I assume headcam) caught some great footage there. I've just never got to jacks rake yet , so... thank you for showing what it entails. I'll look forward to it , hopefully this year.. as I'm based in North Essex. Thanks , and enjoy life 👍😊
Excellent guide - I'm thinking about giving this a go next week (weather permitting). Handy to know you can go down to the left and up at 20:40 - all the other videos I've seen show people taking that broad flat section which looks a bit challenging.
I did this a few years ago. Watching this video has made me realise why I decided that it was a once in a lifetime thing. I enjoyed the first time but I'm not risking it again. I did it in very similar conditions so you video was a good reminder; thank you.
Loved the video! Your route looks just as difficult as the one I attempted. If I ever feel the urge to climb it I'll just watch your video again and remember it's not s good idea 👍
@@RamblingWithRitchie I am sure you will have heard of Barrow, yes we are very lucky, we found a camp site in the Duddon Valley, thankfully our children all like spending time here in the lakes, the video was fantastic, the last time we were in that very location was over a year ago, I am fascinated by history, on the very day I watched this film, my youngest son, was talking about how much that location means, to him/us, also the fact that this is his first winter when he has not ventured onto the fells, you inspired me thank you
Alright bud, I've done Crib Goch, striding edge, swirrel edge, Trifyn North ridge etc, do u think I'd be OK on this ? I don't know why but I've developed a fear of this scramble from horror stories I've heard
There’s worse stories about Crib Goch and it sounds like u smashed that. U should be fine. I think Crib Goch is probably the most exposed ridge walk. U done sharp edge aswell?

Bloody Hell, John, frightening just watching you,

Cheers Paul. Glad you enjoyed
Wow well done that looked kinda scary 👍👍
It’s not too bad to be honest I just have to take ur time that’s all 😀
Nice one , this is on my to do list , I've been told it can be tricky at the top to find a safe route,
Did you go back down it ?
There’s a few tricky points but nothing too serious. Didn’t go back down that way. There are paths down either side down to the tarn
thank you, wonderful location, thankfully am within 30 miles
Cheers Steve. Hope you enjoyed the video. Where abouts do you live being so close?

Nah not done sharp edge, it's another one I've got a fear of 🤣
@@JPHeath mate. Don’t worry if you have done crib Goch u should be fine on both. I’ve got a video on sharp edge aswell
I'll check it out 👍👍
@@JPHeath nice one mate. Cheers
The tree part way up is known as Rowan’s Tree
Brilliant mate. I didn’t know that. How come it’s called Rowans tree? Is there a back story?
@@RamblingWithRitchie Rowan is a type of tree and it's the only one on the Rake so it's generally referred to as Rowan's Tree
Thanks for that bit of info mate. Really appreciate it
