Hi my name is gerhard my father was your guide at African arow safaris and i saw the arow you left and it looks fery cool its in my dads show room my dad said he was amazed by the preformens of your primitive equipment
Hi Gerhard! So glad you were able to watch the video, and I really enjoyed hunting with your dad. Did he tell you how we saved a wildebeest that was trapped in the water tank? It was so cool! And I got it all on video. I plan to put it on youtube soon. Tell your dad hi and I'm looking forward to coming back out and hunting with him in the future.
@@primitivepathways Right on, Billy. Dont fall for the algorithm hamster wheel. Produce videos at your own pace and only if you feel inspired to. We will gladly wait 💪🏻
Yeah me too. I jsut don't have the free time I used to. But I'll be back out there sometime soon. I can't go too long without visiting that beautiful country!
I grew up watching your videos and I'm super glad you're still making them!! Going back and watching them after 8-10 years gives me lots of nostalgia. Also super cool idea!! I wish my state allowed hunting with stone points. Is there a way to get them to pass a new law and allow it??
Billy, its so good to see you keeping innovation alive. I hope your hunting season is going well. I saw a method where a screw in rubber blunt is carved down, threaded and a point was hafted in. I personally tried cutting a large field point down the middle and reprofileing to fit a pannel thickness point. The bade kept warping after each shot. Hafting is indeed so much more tricky to do than beats the eye. I give respect to anyone who has tried making their own arrows. Its a life long skill.
Yeah making arrows definitely is a skill. I've been doing it for a long time and I have a pretty good formula of what I think will work and for the most part it does, but sometimes mother nature throws you a curveball and the arrow you made doesn't fly as well as you thought it would.
awesome work, Billy ... watched all your tutorials ... one could drive crazy, guys , about how many possibilities exist around a bent stick and bis little bro ... regards from Erding/ Bavaria😊
im happy to keep watching your vids very educational and awesome. was wondering if we could see how you make a reed arrow im from the southwest no river cane but we do get reeds near sedona
WELL as log as he's stealing money from the Archery Syndicate I'm on his side. He's the Oliver Anthony of Archery,... and he just appeared from nowhere many years ago with a masters degree in primitive archery. Self taught? I don't know his story,... just what he share's on you tube. He's at the top of You-Tube and there's several others that are pretty good too. Billy Burger is who I think is number 1.
Obsidian volcanic glass is sharper than a surgical scalpel , these arrows heads sell for £1.50-£2.50 some surgeons prefer obsidian scalpels over surgical steel scalpels.
Didn't see your reply. I put hot rocks some dirt/water then bow then more dirt water and fire for one hour on top of all that. My shaggy bark juniper bow didn't get anywhere near hot enough and developed a crack I think
Yes that would work. I've also heard of bows being put in a trench and rocks being heated in a fire, then dropped into the trench with damp moss around the bow. That would effectively steam the wood and make it flexible. Never tried it, but I'd think that would work.
I'm not familiar with the geology of that region but if you do some searching I'll bet you could find something that would work. There may be obsidian in that area, or even possibly agate. If you can't fine anything locally, you can always chip glass bottle bottoms. Those are great practice and you can really refine your skills on glass.
Yeah they are really pretty. And those stone points just look so cool mounted to an arrow. But they are deadly. Wait till you see the video I plan to post where a kudu was taken with one in South Africa!

Interesting video about the weight and keeping it balanced out.
I absolutely LOVE how you stay true to your production style of videos throughout the years. Definitely inspired me! 🙏
Few and far between but well worth the wait!!!! You're the G.O.A.T. in Primitive archery!
Thanks buddy! I just wish I had more time to upload and make content, but life and responsibilities makes it hard to do on a regular basis.

Only GigaChad’s like Billy can drill a hole through a quarter inch dowel freehanded.
Guess I'm just good at doing stuff without a jig!

Great video . I would love if you made a video on making a lakota ,sioux style arrow.
I made one with obsidian and put it on a fiberglass arrow, hopefully in 2 weeks I can test it on a whitetail.
Did you have any luck with your obsidian point?
Great work !
Innovation!
Go getter Billy!!!

Thanks so much! I'd say I'm probably in the very top elite of primitive archers. But that's just me... hahaha

How did west coast bows get reflex before metal pots? Like your dvd you used a piece of metal. How would someone do that without metal?
Did you ever go back and do naked and afraid a second time? You made it look easy lol
Haha...no I never did. I had several opportunities to do it, but it just didn't work out.
Cool man !!
First comment! Hahahah

When start new hunt dear challenge with this arrows?
Do you know about bending recurve ect, with out metal pots? I'm thinking under dirt with water / fire.

Hey Billy I live in oregon grants pass area. What stone's can I knap locally?

When you are too broke to afford board heads at the store
That would be so cool to take an animal with that. Id have a hard time not to just hang it on the wall though.
