    So much simpler and so much more effective than all the pvc trolleys. Thanks for sharing!

    Actually, that’s an epic idea. You know how many times I’ve had those tiny cart tires stuck? Those big ones will traverse anywhere I think.

      Triumph 9909 sounds good. Thanks for the compliment.

    Like the idea of bike tires. Allows you launch the kayak right into the water without submerging the axle - no scratching the hull.

      That is exactly what I was going for. I am glad you noticed. Thanks for watching. Sorry it took so long to respond.

      There is no axle, and that's what worries me. But I'm very excited to make me own with this design.
      Killer!

    Maybe an old piece of indoor/outdoor carpet stapled beyond the 2X4 to make it easier to slide the yak on/ off.

    $6.00 if you already have the bike wheels and tires. Those are expensive if you have to buy them

      Depending on where you live you can get bike tires free from the garbage.

      It is actually easier and faster to make it like this instead of using PVC. Cheaper too!

    How do you fasten the tires to the bracket? Drilled hole and bolts to lock or u shaped end on the bracket? Thanks! Great design, super cheap and functional, just what I needed!

    • @northernmnyakin
      @northernmnyakin  Před 3 lety +2

      I bored out the hole in the bracket to fit the mounting bolts on the rim and then used the nuts that came off the bike and double nutted so they wouldn't fall off.

    Exactly what I was thinking of doing. I wonder if those brackets could handle an 85 lb canoe

    • @northernmnyakin
      @northernmnyakin  Před 2 lety

      If the brackets aren't strong enough you should be able to get a lil more heavy duty "L" brackets the will work just as well.
      Thanks for watching

    Why do I get the feeling that at the first big bump the cart will roll 90 degrees?

    • @northernmnyakin
      @northernmnyakin  Před 6 lety +3

      Not sure why you would feel like that. I used it on some very rough terrain, and I have never had any issues. The bungees allow it to move a little to adjust for uneven ground, and the cart is very wide, so it is exceptionally stable. Unless you are talking about the 2x4. It just slides around a bit; it doesn't hurt a thing.

  • @StevenESloan
    @StevenESloan Před 6 lety

    Just wondering how much weight it could handle. My kayak is about 65 - 80 pounds loaded. You think there's any chance the brackets would break off the 2x4?

    • @northernmnyakin
      @northernmnyakin  Před 6 lety

      Steven E. Sloan no I don't think that would be a problem. There is only a portion of the weight on the cart itself.
