Limited to 25 production units the ICON03 is a car full of purist driving dynamics, a homage to the great Bavarian driving machines, past and present. The result is an authentic, uncompromising driving pleasure with purist character - an ICON. Raw yet refined steering, responsive performance and analog feel through the controls - all traits that ensure the driver is left with no doubts, building trust in the car. Mulgari’s ethos aims to create a distinctly raw driving experience, to deliver the driver to a state of euphoria - a oneness with the machine.
Elements of past and current BMW M offerings all feature in the design. The dimpled carbon roof in homage to the E46 M3 CSL. Extended wings in homage to the E30 M3, squarer more aggressive with motorsport cutoffs. The front wings cut outs feature mounting winglets, a structural requirement while adding a traditional 3.0 CSL feature. The ICON03 is our homage.
Performance comes in the form of the three litre BMW B58 turbocharged engine delivering over 400 ft-lb of torque. Outright performance of the engine hasn’t been a focus we believe that under 500 bhp is where a true drivers car lies. True driving requires a bond between driver and machine, power in the right place builds this trust and encourages a more eager and engaging driving experience.
Chassis and suspension development allows for compliant road holding characteristics, comfort, matched to a sharp, responsive on track ability, an important factor found in some of the driving greats.
The interiors have been crafted to deliver support and functionality, supportive Recaro seats have been added to aid the driver making the most of the ICON03 cornering performance. Our sports flat bottom steering wheel and extended carbon shift paddles complete the driver’s connection to the car. Flashes of accent colour feature on the dash trims and interior stitch

I have a question.....are you guys making videos to be within a certain length to work well with the CZcams algorithm? I ask because lately when I get to the end of the video I've felt like there should have been more. Not that a specific thing is missing per se. You ask such great questions and it's just felt like we've only gotten to eat the frosting instead of getting the full slice of cake.

M2 Competition exists for like half of the price so I just don't get the point of this project.

I personally like the interior and body lines of this over the M2. The price for this is the hardest thing to swallow, but only if you want to compare the price with power you get. Everything else from the drivers cockpit, to the suspension and chassis, to the sound, etc., I think fits the price just fine.

I love tuner cars, and especially seeing reviews of them. For me, a good tuner builds the car that the manufacturer would have built if they didn't face cost, emissions and hierarchical constraints. Look at how Sharkwerks modifies Caymans to exceed factory 911s, they demonstrate how often times a car is limited by the manufacturer as to not step on the toes of their other products.
In this case I would have started with an M2 simply because the S55 engine is far more easy to modify and can make a lot more power more easily than a B58, but I can understand why one would start with the M240i, as it is a bit more stripped down than the M2.

I am in complete agreement with Ben! By today's standards, the best M engine from BMW is the B58 engine, not even the S58. Sure they're more powerful etc but the blend and chemistry of power sound and character comes best from the B58 engine. Combine that with the balance and the package of the 2 series and you have the best BMW ever made

Looks pretty cool but, err, at that price I'll have an M2 Comp with KW suspensions, ecu tune for the extra HP, and a manual gearbox. I get the novelty factor but I think starting with an M2 base would have made more sense. Just my two cents though.

  • @francoisg3500
    @francoisg3500 Před 4 lety +3

It is undeniable a cool create, but I don’t think the price warrants the development of the car, consider that ICON doesn’t make any parts themselves. But I think the rationale behind the car makes a lot of sense because I some times find that some tune take way the identity of the car and what it stands for, into a mad creation. The 03 I feel done in a respectful way to the car on with is based.

This is one of those cars that I would definitely reccomend getting with a 6 speed manual. The M2, paired with the manual, fits the BMW description of "the ultimate driving machine." The m240i would match that as well with a manual transmission. These b58 motors are insane, as you see with the new supras!

    So it’s basically a Standard M240i with:
    - Standard M235 Racing Body kit: Price ?
    - Standard MPerformance diff: 2500€
    - Standard Power Tune: 500€
    - Standard Akropovic exhaust: 3000€
    - suspension is the secret, but probably a standard KW V3 will drive in the same way: 2000€
    - nice 19“ with PS4S: 2000€
    - Standard Recaro seats: 2500€
    - Standard Alcantara wrap of steering wheel: 200€
So ca 13.000€ of Standard mods plus the Body kit
    + 40.000€ for a brand new M240
    ---
    53.000€
...so there is ca 30-35.000€ left to apply the standard M235
    Racing body kit

Dont really understand what they charge £79k for it. Its M240 + Akrapovich + fancy wheels + KW + Prior Design wide body kit + a bit of interior re-trim. It does not cost £79k.

Is that thing an automatic? That's a big mistake.

I think if you got a M2 Comp and spent the money on KWs (or M-Performance coilovers), Recaro CS seats, M-Performance steering wheel, carbon roof, Akra exhaust, I think you’d have a better car than this....for cheaper

Resale value alone favours going with an M2 in the first place. Actually I kinda missed the point of this car...
