- The tipping point between Fit and Frail creeps into our lives. One day we realize that we have lost our strength in our upper body because we can't do what we used to do! But, the good news is... we can get our strength back! Join Kim in this first of her 3-part Light Weight Series to Tone and Strengthen.
⭐ This video begins with a short standing sequence intended to move the body through multiple planes of movement, (frontal, sagittal, transverse), while simultaneously adding a balance challenge. Following the warmup, the weight exercises will target the muscles of the upper body and core. Each set of exercises is followed by a brief stretch of the targeted muscles. The class concludes with a seated stretch sequence for the chest, back and shoulders.
**Remember, many of the standing upper body strengthening exercises can be performed seated in a chair.
Primary Muscle Groups Worked: Bicep, Triceps, Deltoids, Forearms, Pectorals, Latissimus Doris, Trapezius, Rhomboids,
Equipment Needed: Chair. Light hand-held weights. For this video, Kim has weights available in 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, & 8 pound increments. Use the best weight selection that supports your individual needs. All exercises can be performed without any weight.

Is this video helpful for osteoporosis -- to help strengthen bones?
Hi Sheila! Anytime we increase stress on our bones in a good way, as in using lightweights, it will strengthen our bones. So yes this practice is great for anyone with osteoporosis or osteopenia. Enjoy!
