Its been years and I still don't understand how its supposed to be anything other than blue and black.
for me its the opposite buddy , i feel weird knowing it is actually blue and black 😅
i saw ir white and gold once but after it changed to blue and black ever since
I just came back and 3 hours and now all I can see is white and gold??
stop trolling there is no black lol im not insane am i?
For anyone who *still* doesn't understand how this works, I recommend googling "dress illusion gif" and clicking the first image. It's about how you interpret the lighting.
The whole dress thing made me realize there’s probably more forms of color blindness than are typically recognized.
I thought it was a lighting perception thing, but even when I zoomed in really far on it when editing I'd still only see the zoomed in white or gold section and never black or blue.
@@realSpaceKangaroo I have a tip for you - look at the dress as if it was half-transparent, then you'll see the black-and-blue.
@criszis same
@@realSpaceKangaroo this comment genuinely feels like a joke or something. Are you seriously telling me in that image used in this video you see white and gold? if so that is actually crazy cause I see clear black and blue with no way of it being white and gold.
@@realSpaceKangaroo that's because the colors of the image are white and gold because of the lighting. the only way to see black and blue is to let your brain do some weird unconscious processing.
😂AI finally didn't went down with the automatic "I'm sorry, it is actually ..." and stood up to your attempt to make it think the other way
Bard based asf. I love how he's disturbed by you calling him a liar.
it actually is blue and black though, the lighting makes the black reflect the yellow, the black reflects a bit of the light and it's looks golden.
no clue how the blue can look white tho
Late reply.
The blue can look white because artificial light is often blue.
Your mind tries to subconcously removes the hue of the light from objects to allow you to know what colour they are (so you can tell something is white in blue/yellow light).
But with the dress image it is ambiguous what colour the light is, so if peoples minds assume it is an artificial blue light the dress will look white/gold but if it assumes an orange light the dress looks blue/black.
@@8bit_pineapple Wait that's really cool
Only once I was able to see it as gold and white
I can't unsee the blue and black
😂 "the dress has been analyzed by scientists" where on earth did you find such a cocky lying AI. Everytime I ask GPT a question it tells me it's too stupid to answer and to contact an expert. Funny video though I enjoyed it.
Uhm, does the ASAPScience video count?
Cockylying Ai said by a human
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
It's google bard tho
I was looking for an old book. I gave bard a brief description of the plot of the book, and asked bard what it was.
Bard made up a book name. Described a fake plot. And then made up a quote for a specific line in the book from a specific page and chapter that I had vaguely referenced. It did this yesterday.
Bard is 100% a liar.
Pop the image into editing software, and color pick the colors. Read the values, and see which color is strongest.
When I did, it was black and blue.
Bard ain't Google
Then ur book image quality must be really bad
gpt does this too
Lol. I asked for the name of a obscure thought provoking youtube video I found. It invented a whole new youtube channel and created the script for a realistic video.
crap, it's been blue and black the whole time, thought it was gold and yellow, i still see it as gold and yellow
How? In what universe is there white?
Are you blind?
@@IVEdgeYeah, he has a form og color blindness
@@adriancarlito8830 It's not colorblindness. It's an optical illusion . The dress could be either black and blue in a very bright room, or yellow and white in a very dark one. The brain has to pick one and stick with it, so we don't become insane.
Google color constancy. It's interesting
Color blind?
Bard didn't notice that yellow and gold are the same color and people actually see gold/yellow and white. PS I see light blue (not what I would normally imagine by “голубой”, but more of “азурный”) or, in some places, a color between blue and purple, and very dark gold
yep, a saturated blue and a dark gold for me
Опа
Русский/ая замечен(а)
It’s blue and black. Facts don’t care about your feelings.
Used a colour picker and got #7e8ab4 and #6a5f3c. That's a light(ish) blue and dark(ish) yellow. Now obviously the colour isn't at all uniform across the image, but the dress certainly isn't white and gold(yellow) or blue and black in that image. I will note however, that the dark parts of the yellow stripes are what I can only call a brown colour (#473b2f). So the truth is somewhere in the middle lol
That depends. I'm not sure anyone has the original image anymore. The image's brightness gets modified so it looks white n gold in some images but blue and black in others. (even thought it's obviously still blue and black in the brightened images)
@@froxdoggaming3385 Well what I said is of course only true for the particular image featured in the video. I think it's rather absurd that people act so strongly about the dress being a particular colour when they haven't seen it in person, and the reference image is pretty far from what they claim it to be.
@@tntblast500this may be the dumbest thing I've read
The worst bit is they are technically right...
a battle of the ages!
Pixel data is dark blue and brown. Actual dress is Blue and black.
The lighting makes it look white and gold.
It is a black and blue dress that is badly photographed and under confusing lighting.
we've seen the dres in different lighting conditions
it's blue and black bro
I don't believe you all saying you see it golden and white. I has to be some kind of a huge internet joke or something
there's obviously blue in there, and there is alot of yellow lighting, only acceptable answers are blue and black or blue and gold
if there is a ton of yellow lighting, the "white" areas shouldn't look blue.
Here is an explanation of this illusion:
Your brain constantly does an auto white balance (adjustment for the color of the light) based on the expected color of what it sees. It transforms your color perception to match what color it thinks the light is. If a scene or photo lacks sufficient lightning cues, it's possible to get two people to simultaneously see completely different colors. In the dress picture, those who assume the light is white see the dress as white/gold. Those who notice the tiny bit of background in the photo see it is yellow and overexposed. Their brain assumes the light is bright yellow, and they see the dress as blue/black.
If you want to see it as blue and black look at the background an image it is in an orange sunset.
I cannot see it as anything other than blue and black. Probably because I have my phone set to shading everything slightly orange so I automatically assumed orange lighting.
Ah yeah... The Auto White Balance Update. I hated that update.
The dress is the reason for only time I’ve ever done a triple take and a seen a different set of colors every single time
I have proof. I went to PicsArt and just used the water dropper thing and it _was_ black and blue.
IT IS
Can someone explain to me what part is supposed to be "yellow" and what is supposed to be "gold"?
I see it as white and gold - the very top of the dress (and some thick stripes) are gold, and the sleeves of the dress + thin stripes are white.
What was the original question again? What the color of the real dress is or what the colors of the dress on the picture are? The second question could be answered easily with the Photoshop color tool.
Blue and black
@@gaggix7095 ??? So picking a color from this picture in Photoshop from the upper middle gives me this HEX value: #847450. It's rather brown...
A exactly. Bard saw the real color
Am i a victim of the optical illusion, or is the dress blue and yellow(ish brown)? lol
It is the lighting. I can sort of see that color. But I mostly see blue and black.
he is right, it is blue and black.
It's blue and yellow.
i saw that dress as black and blue once the very first time i saw that image, but ever since then i've only been able to see it as white and gold
Knowing there's people who think it's white/yellow and gold informs me that color blindness is more common than I thought
Yeah, everyone probably has their own unique very specific way of recognizing color, but everyone is united under these terms like “red”, “green”, “pink”, etc. Some languages only have three words for each color, usually dark, light, and red. Personally, I see the dress as white and gold and I understand how many people see it’s color as blue and black, but I can’t change my perception of it even if I try hard.
@@ShadowStray_ huh. I wonder what causes perception of white/gold then. cause I completely see it as blue/black, and if you test it, the exact color value is a blue color
its not colour blindness, its how their brain inteprets the colours. two people could have the exact same eyesight and still see it differently
i cant for the life of me see it as gold and yellow, its literally impossible
You see yellow and gold? All I see is blue and black.
Ask the Bot what government actions needed a distraction that week.
I mean, the original dress is black and blue, the owner showed it. Only looks like white and gold because of lighting, but i can't see white and gold anyways.
The people who see it as Blue and Black must've been so confused

Hahahahahaha, I figured that riddle out a few days ago, get this: I was on my PC just trying to solve it I just moved far back and it just turned blue and black, lmao.
it’s yellow and white, it’s just under a tree on a hanger and shadows usually cast a blue color onto white colors
It's inside a store.
You can literally see the glass window in the background.
It really is not. You can use a color dropper. If you believe it in under a shadow your brain adjusts it to be white and gold.
@@iluvpandas2755 why would i download a image for the sole purpose of that
Cap
wrong way around
I recognize the dress as blue and black when I look at it, but I can switch and see it in white and gold as well. But I can only see it that way If I imagine it’s in a shadow.
However the dress in the photograph actually has the warm sunlight shining directly on it, if it was indeed white it would be as white and vibrant as the chatroom-backround in the video.
I totally understand how you can see the black as gold thanks to the ambiant yellow light, but I cannot for the life of me get my brain to see the blue as white, I wonder what I'm missing
@@cleo42 I already tried posting this comment, I don’t think I can link an image directly to you, but search for ‘outdoor bed backyard camping’ on google images. The first result should be a picture of a bed outdoors at night, if you look at the sheets there I think you can find a strong example of how light might make us perceive a white colour as blue or vice versa.
Wait, the dress isn't in shade in the picture?
@@tylerian4648 Yeah, I think that’s where this whole illusion stems from, people who see it in shade see it in white and gold, people who see it in direct light see it in blue and black.
Pink and green... next!

even if the lighting was stronger, it would just be gold & light blue.

It is more tan and blue than black and blue
Apparently after a bunch of research on these color illusions, if you see blue and black (like me) then you need to touch some grass. If you see gold and yellow then it means that you do actually touch grass or have grass sources in your line of vision daily.
sounds like something someone who hasn't touched grass would say
I can see both and choose which one to see

What kind of research is this? I barely touch grass and all I can see is a blueish white and gold. Putting the dress through an image editor confirms this. I know the dress is meant to be blue and black but I can only ever see it by the raw colours no matter how hard I try.
I think it’s blue and gold

Blue and gold
Bro Bard said he is sorry for liyng to you and that the dress is not proven to be black
"Dear [guy's name],
I would like to apologize for my previous statement about the blue and black dress illusion. I claimed that it is confirmed to be blue and black, but this is not accurate. In fact, there is no scientific consensus on the color of the dress.
I am still under development, and I am working on improving my ability to be accurate and informative in my responses. I will try my best to avoid making similar mistakes in the future.
I am sorry for misleading you, and I hope that you can forgive me.

I know that not all humans are the same and some use left brain hemisphere more than right but god dammit! Can't you see that it's clear blue? The black has some gold in it but that's just the lighting. Most of my friends say Its blue and black.
