      0:45 - One canNOT bounce off an atmosphere. There is no bouncing involved. What would have happened is that they would merely not brake as hard as required. They would also even less "be gone into space". They were never in escape velocity from Earth, so they would have stayed in orbit. The problem they DID face due to the insufficient braking was taking too long on another orbit before coming back down for another brake, too long for their remaining life support to keep them alive until reentry. But there was no bouncing off of the atmosphere because there is no such thing. Please stop perpetuating this misconception of bouncing off an atmosphere.

    • @Anvilshock
      @Anvilshock Před 7 lety

      No. It is not. Skipping would require lift which the Apollo capsule had practically none. What you call skipping is actually "trajectory of the craft being less curved than the atmospheric layer". Of course, translated to a reference frame which you flat-earther moron would be able comprehend only, that would sure look like skipping. Then again, the "moron" in "moron" should be a give-away so as to not take you seriously in the first place.

    • @Nikioko
      @Nikioko Před 6 lety +22

      valebliz: The Speedmaster isn't more accurate than a quartz watch but more precise. The Omega 861 caliber of the Moonwatch has a precision of 1/6 second while most quartz watches have a precision of 1 second. And if you want it all, you have to take a Grand Seiko chronograph with the 9R86 movement which has the precision of a sweeping second hand plus the accuracy of a quartz watch.

    • @valebliz
      @valebliz Před 6 lety +5

      I hardly see mechanical watches as tools today, as much as i like them. The speedie was a nice movement from a technical pov when it was created. Today as an instrument... no thanks. There's plenty of quartz chronos with 1/100 or even 1/1000s precision out there, with kinetic movements. If you want to compared a spedie with a quartz pick a decent one, there's no sense in comparing it to a run of the mill quartz with only deadbeat seconds.

      vincero are fashion watches, sort of like if armani sells a watch etc. its a different market, they're not really going for watch enthusiasts. for them entry level brands would be things like seiko, or tissot for cheaper quality watches, or tudor for entry-level "fancy" quality watches.

    A little correction about "Latitude" and "Longitude"...
    Latitude is from the Equator to North or South poles.
    Longitude runs from North to South and is measured from 0° to 360° divide by 180° or the "International Date Line".
    That's the difference between Lat. and Long.

    • @zzyzxzee6374
      @zzyzxzee6374 Před 5 lety +5

      Ronnie Pereira yep, you re right! If only people knew that $600 hugo boss watch they bought at macys has a $30 movement...or worse yet a quartz.
      Or that most even good watches buy their movements from a swiss maker like eta or myota japan. Maybe a hundred dollar movement thats been calibrated then they assemble it into their stylized housing. Remember 51% of parts and labor must be made or assembled in switzerland or it cant say swiss made, or made in switzerland.
      Not saying thats bad but i have a steinhart with a swiss eta movement, great watch btw, it cost me $400 but that same movement is also found in a $8000 breightling.. Same grade! Is the case really worth $7600?
      If you re spending over $500 on a watch it should have at a minimum, decent calibrated movement, dont even consider spending that much for a quartz. Unless really high end techno watch like apple, gshocks (some) should also have a sapphire crystal, solid links on the bracelet, would be niceif mechanical it should also have handwinding and hacking, if a diver should have a screw down crown and if really nice a ceramic bezel. Also diver minimum depth rating should be 200 meters...

    The latitude and longitude graphic at 6:55 is reversed. Latitude runs from left to right, it's flat when looking at a map, so I remember it as "flatitude."
    For a quick explanation of why you needed accurate time keeping to tell longitude but not latitude:
    Latitude can be determined with a sextant looking at a star or the sun. If you imagine yourself looking off of the planet, the angle between the horizon and a fixed point like the sun can allow you to figure out exactly how far from the equator you are.
    Longitude on the other hand can't be measured in this way because the earth spins too fast, and there are no objects in the sky which stay directly above the earth off, that is unless you know exactly what time to measure at.

    I've recently started building software clocks (digital display) and finding it quite gratifying; just finished my first one attempt at an analogue display.... Next challenge is to turn my digital display stopwatch into an analogue one, a chronograph; all the functions are there already, I just need to go from manipulating digits to manipulating hands... Thought I needed to get the basics on what each hand is doing before I take the plunge.
    I actually had an entry level chronograph back in the early 90's but gave it away as a gift without really learning how to use it properly.
    Talking of long form videos, you could probably do an ASMR video of the face of a chronograph with it running for several hours, with the clock ticking, AND, you'd probably get a lot of views on it. There's already one out there with a simple clock that has hundreds of thousands of views and I've seen a clock, just a picture of it, with a ticking background sound; has approaching 2M views - the message? People love timepieces.
