- Pointed the Tunnel Hull North to the Chassahowitzka NWR looking for a Redfish, Trout & Snook Slam!! Running from one potential spot to another with the Fish scattered as usual. Flipping a Weedless Softie & the Mirrodine Twitch bait I managed to find the Finns Chewing on this trip up North!! Take a ride to the Refuge...Enjoy!!

Well I tell you Mike I never get tired of running around such a large piece of real estate....especially when very few people know this area as well as me & the interesting part is I just don't run across folks that are willing to put in the time to Xplore.... & that includes the Guides....they all tend to fish the same places...which after a while some of these places fail to produce!!....That's good 4 me!!

Casual Carolina Fishing....Thanks Bill!! Both of those Reds were in about 15 inches of water on some nasty lime rock...I wasn't Xpecting them in those close quarters!! Mr. 13 Spotter was a PB for Spotts....I really enjoy highlighting the colors & diversity of all the species I get on film!!

That last one was the coolest looking Red I have ever seen! It is crazy the Manatees just swim by in the middle of nowhere like that. I can see how they would get hit by boaters. Awesome video Wes!!

Our water temps inshore are @ 77 degrees which has brought the T's out of the rivers & into the back country...Glad you dropped by....Have a Honker Weekend!!

HOOKEM IN THE MOUTH KAYAK FISHING....Thanks Charles!! This slow warming trend has all the local critters starting 2 chew & the T's have left the warm rivers & are starting to show up every place I go in the back country so I have 2 keep an Eyeball open 4 them!! From a slam standpoint if it's three different species that are unrelated it's a Slam....I don't know how many Trash Slams I've gotten over the years....Well it's the weekend...Time to go Hook Something in the Mouth....Sea Ya!!

Brother Dunne....Thanks!! I know the name is Indian named by the Seminole Indians during the Seminole Wars between 1835 to 1852 & means hanging Pumpkins which is an Xtinct species as far as I know!! The Refuge is truly a paradise with very limited access!!

Awesome day of fishing as usual! I got to watch a Manatee in an aquarium and they are like dogs 😁 It was playing with a stick, too funny. Those last 2 reds were real beauties. I caught one for the first time this summer that was a nice one. Got him on an ultralight rod and reel with 6lb line and I thought he was going to spool me but I eventually got him in. That was a lot of fun. They are incredibly strong fish for sure!
The Fishing Hobby....Thanks!! This was my first Slam of the year & my PB Spotter...It was just an all around good day in the Refuge!! I come in contact with dozens of the T's every year...I really have to keep an Eyeball out for them because the majority of them are Cows with a calf in tow!! I tell you a Bronzze Bulldogg is a strong fish on light tackle...I didn't give them that name for nothing!!

Didn't Xpect the Spotter that close to the first fish but that's why I flip these lime rock bottoms pretty heavily....the Redfish like to hang on this structure!!

My biggest Red was 35" & I think that was a fluke because by then fish that size have left the Inshore waters to join the offshore breading schools. Mostly I never sea one much over 30" these days....Our legal slot is 18" to 27"!! Glad you could stop by...Have a great weekend!!

I've managed a few whoppa Trout to 23" in Wall...Reds to 28" & the Snook @ 21". Tossing on Top with Spittin' Image.....The Dine...& softies weedless Texas rigged.....The soft flukes are really gettin' the job done!! What have you been up to...Xpect to run across you from time to time!!

Wes Lovelace Can’t wait for our water to warm up. It was 57 3 days ago but we’ve had 70degree days so hopefully we can hit 65 by next week

MooMoo Outdoors....Thanks!! It's hard to catch any of these species without being racked over rough lime rock bottom in the Refuge & if you don't lay into them they will drag the line & leader across the hard bottom!!
Looks like you had a great fishing expedition. Loved seeing the manatee. I will be down in Florida in about 3 weeks for a dragon boat training camp. Looking forward to the warm weather.

Nice Slam. The patterns on those specs were beautiful. The spots on that last red were cool. I hope the reds come further up the Chesapeake this year. Either way I'll go south to catch em.
