Very cool that you get to see an eagle couple regularly. You have some great wildlife there. I'd love to fish that area. Some of those canals seem so narrow. You were crushin em again out there.
YourNextCast....Thanks!! There is a lot of Wildlife in the Refuge but with the action cams no zoom so the pics are knot much to sea 4 the viewers. I've been running around the Refuge 4 so long it's almost second nature as to where & when !! When I originally bought this boat the salesman said I could run is wet grass....That sold me...But it does require 5" of water....Pretty Skinny....Have a great weekend!!

The only way to navigate the Refuge is standing up & I enjoy the faster boat response that tilling affords me....Being 7 feet off the water allows me to sea alot more than ifI was sitting on the water. Go Midwest Fishing....Thanks!! During the winter these freshwater creeks are usually 4 to 8 degrees warmer than the Gulf. All of the Rivers here on this stretch of Florida Coastline are Spring Fed with a year round water temp of 72.2 degrees. All 3 species...Redfish, Trout & Snook are freshwater tolerant !!

Where you will be in Pinellas County there are several piers on the Gulf...one on Clearwater Beach & Madeira Beach...might sea the Dolphins....The T's now that might be tough because they have left the wintering grounds and are starting to wander all over the Bays & Creeks + we just got a Ripper of a storm front just blow through this afternoon!!

Good question...There are no Crocs this far North in Florida..they are limited in range to South Florida & the Everglades.....But we have a pile of Alligators & I run across them all the Time...I've even had them chase a Topwater Bait...Great question...Glad you stopped by have a great week!!

I was out last week and caught a bunch Its a good year for em The New river up around the marine base usually holds some in the summer but when the water gets warmer the meat gets a little mushy so I don't go after them as much Tight lines buddy @@WesLovelace

gary lutsky.....Thanks!! When I was looking 4 a skinny boat back in 1994 this is what I came up with....Something that wood run in Xtremely shallow water & navigate very narrow passages & this Landau has been the perfect boat!!
Allen Outdoors.....Thanks!! Tim they are all natural channels that have been formed by tidal flow & scouring effects of those tides!! I use the tide cycles when I'm in the Refuge....because you need plenty of water to get around with all the lower unit killing lime rock bottom. I usually go in at about the time of the High Tide. Where you sea me in the back country it takes that tide 2 hours longer to fill up the creeks as compared to the outside Gulf...so when the tide reverses inside I'm already into 2+ hours of the outgoing!! The Refuge is a complicated place to fish but after 25 years in there I try knot 2 make mistakes that will cause a major breakdown or worse....Being Injured!!
Saltwater Hooked....Thanks!! That was a pod of 6 Bottlenose....This group wasn't interested in me at all...but I continue 2 sea more of these critters this time of year with the fish moving into skinny water....

Very cool that you get to see an eagle couple regularly. You have some great wildlife there. I'd love to fish that area. Some of those canals seem so narrow. You were crushin em again out there.
YourNextCast....Thanks!! There is a lot of Wildlife in the Refuge but with the action cams no zoom so the pics are knot much to sea 4 the viewers. I've been running around the Refuge 4 so long it's almost second nature as to where & when !! When I originally bought this boat the salesman said I could run is wet grass....That sold me...But it does require 5" of water....Pretty Skinny....Have a great weekend!!

The only way to navigate the Refuge is standing up & I enjoy the faster boat response that tilling affords me....Being 7 feet off the water allows me to sea alot more than ifI was sitting on the water. The Trout are still chewing & hopefully that will continue a while longer!!

Go Midwest Fishing....Thanks!! During the winter these freshwater creeks are usually 4 to 8 degrees warmer than the Gulf. All of the Rivers here on this stretch of Florida Coastline are Spring Fed with a year round water temp of 72.2 degrees. All 3 species...Redfish, Trout & Snook are freshwater tolerant !!

Where you will be in Pinellas County there are several piers on the Gulf...one on Clearwater Beach & Madeira Beach...might sea the Dolphins....The T's now that might be tough because they have left the wintering grounds and are starting to wander all over the Bays & Creeks + we just got a Ripper of a storm front just blow through this afternoon!!

Tanja Reize....Thanks!! I spend a lot of time on the water & have been doing this all my life!! The Refuge is 25 miles of Remote Florida Coastline that is only accessible by boat. Good question...There are no Crocs this far North in Florida..they are limited in range to South Florida & the Everglades.....But we have a pile of Alligators & I run across them all the Time...I've even had them chase a Topwater Bait...Great question...Glad you stopped by have a great week!!

Wesley Carl.....Thanks!! The Speckled Trout have been chewing the plastic here lately & have been relatively easy to find in the back country creeks near the deep holes....These Trout will be moving to the Gulf before long & I probably won't katch any again till the fall/winter!!
I was out last week and caught a bunch Its a good year for em The New river up around the marine base usually holds some in the summer but when the water gets warmer the meat gets a little mushy so I don't go after them as much Tight lines buddy @@WesLovelace

Allen Outdoors.....Thanks!! Tim they are all natural channels that have been formed by tidal flow & scouring effects of those tides!! I use the tide cycles when I'm in the Refuge....because you need plenty of water to get around with all the lower unit killing lime rock bottom. I usually go in at about the time of the High Tide. Where you sea me in the back country it takes that tide 2 hours longer to fill up the creeks as compared to the outside Gulf...so when the tide reverses inside I'm already into 2+ hours of the outgoing!! The Refuge is a complicated place to fish but after 25 years in there I try knot 2 make mistakes that will cause a major breakdown or worse....Being Injured!!
