    In India, there are 4 kind of mobile shoppers:
    1. Who wants just the bare bone smartphone, so will get one for less than ₹10k.
    2. Wants a decent one without shelling Their whole month's salary, will get one for about ₹15k.
    3. Flagship lovers who can afford anything, will buy ₹60k-₹100k flagship from Their favorite brand.
    4. The most tech-concious (edit: also value minded) People who prefer flagship grade specs for a cheaper price with many compromises compared to a true flagship, will buy SD 800 series device for ₹20k-₹30k (true flagship killers).
    Where is Nord's place?
    1. It isn't cheap for ₹10k buy.
    2. Specs are like a sub ₹20k device but costs ₹25k+.
    3. Isn't a flagship.
    4. Doesn't have SD 800 series to justify ₹25k.
    Only OP Fanboys who can't afford OP flagships will want to buy Nord.

This morning I woke up and start doing some stuff, chatting etc where I did intense work too as well for around hour (letting phone rest a bit from time to time) and drained just 5%!!! You mentioned more recognizable flagship brands like Apple, Samsung and I think brands like Huawei and Sony are also there but 1+ is above Google and LG to me at this point. 1+ may not have the sales, but them finally putting the phone in stores I feel was a big step forward to making a splash in the Western market.
      The creation of the Nord also gives the brand a mid-tier phone which further pushes the 1+8 line as their flagship product and not a "tweener".

    Had my Nord for almost 2 weeks now and I completely agree with this review.
    The phone is decent enough, but is a compromise in every aspect.
    I've come to the Nord from 4 years of using an OP3, and it's kind of hard to see what improvements they've made on the phone in 4 years, yes it is technically slightly better allround, but not an extra £50 and 4 years tech and development. It feels more like a lateral move with a slight step up than the big upgrade I was hoping for.
    I don't imagine I'll keep this for 4 years before upgrading like I did with the OP3.

    • @CalvLyfeson
      @CalvLyfeson Před 3 lety

      Interesting. I have a 3 and I am looking to upgrade. Was considering the Nord because I just couldn't bring myself to cough up for an 8. But maybe I should? I feel like I can't get an upgrade on the 3 at a good price because the spec was so good.

    • @DanDannyDanDan_
      @DanDannyDanDan_ Před 3 lety +6

      @@CalvLyfeson the phone isn't bad, it has the decent specs they claim, but is distinctly average overall. I don't demand a lot from my phone and am also unwilling to pay high prices because of that, so the Nord seemed to work for me. If your 3 still works and you're happy with it, I would suggest saving your money for now, this seems to be the start of a new mid-range phone battle and I can forsee some much better offerings appearing over the next few months. I think the mid-range value Vs hardware equation still needs to balance out a little more before it's as effective as the 3 was.
      However, if you do get one, or any of the other recent phones of the same price point, expect compromises, an overall reasonable performance, but nothing to rave about.

    • @UrDaddy4Real
      @UrDaddy4Real Před 3 lety

      I have a 3t. Nord is availble for pretty cheap 315$, hence tempted. But im worried about screen quality. Do you know OP8 and Nord are same quality screen?
      I checked Samsung S20+ VS S20 FE side-by-side and the S20 FE was noticeably inferior in screen quality though both claimed to be Amoled.
      Hence now im skeptical of these mid rangers. Wonder why isnt the screen quality discussed in details other than just resolution

    • @DanDannyDanDan_
      @DanDannyDanDan_ Před 3 lety +2

      @@UrDaddy4Real it depends what you want from your phone and what you can afford. The screen is alright, a good size and displays most things quite nicely, the lack of brightness can be an issue, particularly on sunny days (not a huge issue for me living in the UK though). The high end phones have much better screens, but also have a price tag at least 2x that of the Nord.
      Initially I didn't see much of an upgrade, but the longer I've had it, I can see the upgrades are mostly the chipsets/performance. My OP3 couldn't run a lot of augmented reality apps, which the Nord can handle quite well. That being said, I've seen my Nord struggle with simple Instagram filters too though.
      Ultimately you do mostly get what you pay for with the phones, the Nord is a decent phone, but it is a mid-range phone so is never going to beat a high-end phone. But, you do get a decent phone for the money, the battery life is good, the charge time is crazy fast.
      One annoying feature of the Nord for me is the camera. In the right conditions, you can get some great shots on it, but then, so could my OP3. The high res, 48mp camera has a nice wide angle lens and takes good shots, but, it takes about 3 seconds between shots for it to process the image, meaning if you want to take multiple shots quickly, you have no chance. The main 12mp sensor is quicker and does give some nice images, but isn't a "great" camera. The wide angle lens is a nice feature but low res and the macro is abysmal. The front cameras are pretty poor quality too, but mostly do the job. Essentially this is a decent enough all round, relatively cheap phone, it can handle pretty much any use but doesn't excel in any areas and is not going to rival a high end phone in any area.
      Personally, I don't use my phone for much more than calls, texts, internet browsing and photos, so just basic use, and the Nord works for me because of the cheaper price. If you do anything more demanding, I think you may regret buying one if you have the means to buy a more expensive phone.
      If you're poor or cheap like me, it's a good enough compromise, but doesn't feel like as much of a bargain as the OP3 did.
