@@md-im8qp Nobody is talking about Apple, their cameras are actually good. Nord's are shit.
Also fuck apple's reasoning, it doesn't matter because wireless will never surpass wired. You will never be able to get a $100 pair of wireless earbuds that sound as good as a $100 pair of wired earbuds. It just isn't the same due to physics.

In India, there are 4 kind of mobile shoppers:
1. Who wants just the bare bone smartphone, so will get one for less than ₹10k.
2. Wants a decent one without shelling Their whole month's salary, will get one for about ₹15k.
3. Flagship lovers who can afford anything, will buy ₹60k-₹100k flagship from Their favorite brand.
4. The most tech-concious (edit: also value minded) People who prefer flagship grade specs for a cheaper price with many compromises compared to a true flagship, will buy SD 800 series device for ₹20k-₹30k (true flagship killers).
Where is Nord's place?
1. It isn't cheap for ₹10k buy.
2. Specs are like a sub ₹20k device but costs ₹25k+.
3. Isn't a flagship.
4. Doesn't have SD 800 series to justify ₹25k.
Only OP Fanboys who can't afford OP flagships will want to buy Nord.
Kinda funny how American tech reviewers are moderately excited for this phone and in much more competitive phone markets this Oneplus Nord is just another midranger.

Didn't he say in his recent "Can You Trust MKBHD?" video that the reviews will always come with a "review", "impressions" or something similar in the title? This is pretty ominous and clickbaity in my opinion.

This was by far the best review of One Plus NORD I have seen, love the details you have pointed out and I am thoroughly impressed. The price in my country India is pretty cheap since it's manufactured here in India. The price for 12 GB/128 GB NORD is 30000 INR, that's exactly 400 USD. I just bought the Nord 8gb - it is wonderful phone - even face ID works like a charm. Feels really premium and has battery I haven't experienced before, battery drains really slow! And Yesterday I went to 5%, left the phone to charge and after 20min the phone was at 75%!! This morning I woke up and start doing some stuff, chatting etc where I did intense work too as well for around hour (letting phone rest a bit from time to time) and drained just 5%!!! Had iphone xs, where did drain 5% for 5 min (LOL) and can't describe how happy I am that I have good battery and premium phone overall! I recommend 100%!
One+ Nord: "When Never Settle...settles"
Pretty much. The ultimate plan was probably always to reach flagship level (that's how they would have gotten the funding and backing), but 1+ really dropped the ball.
@ Nah, I like reading. You make a point about how 1+ is in the Oppo family bubble, but I always viewed it as the "Western" brand they were trying to build popularity for.
You mentioned more recognizable flagship brands like Apple, Samsung and I think brands like Huawei and Sony are also there but 1+ is above Google and LG to me at this point. 1+ may not have the sales, but them finally putting the phone in stores I feel was a big step forward to making a splash in the Western market.
The creation of the Nord also gives the brand a mid-tier phone which further pushes the 1+8 line as their flagship product and not a "tweener".

Had my Nord for almost 2 weeks now and I completely agree with this review.
The phone is decent enough, but is a compromise in every aspect.
I've come to the Nord from 4 years of using an OP3, and it's kind of hard to see what improvements they've made on the phone in 4 years, yes it is technically slightly better allround, but not an extra £50 and 4 years tech and development. It feels more like a lateral move with a slight step up than the big upgrade I was hoping for.
I don't imagine I'll keep this for 4 years before upgrading like I did with the OP3.
Interesting. I have a 3 and I am looking to upgrade. Was considering the Nord because I just couldn't bring myself to cough up for an 8. But maybe I should? I feel like I can't get an upgrade on the 3 at a good price because the spec was so good.
@@CalvLyfeson the phone isn't bad, it has the decent specs they claim, but is distinctly average overall. I don't demand a lot from my phone and am also unwilling to pay high prices because of that, so the Nord seemed to work for me. If your 3 still works and you're happy with it, I would suggest saving your money for now, this seems to be the start of a new mid-range phone battle and I can forsee some much better offerings appearing over the next few months. I think the mid-range value Vs hardware equation still needs to balance out a little more before it's as effective as the 3 was.
However, if you do get one, or any of the other recent phones of the same price point, expect compromises, an overall reasonable performance, but nothing to rave about.
I have a 3t. Nord is availble for pretty cheap 315$, hence tempted. But im worried about screen quality. Do you know OP8 and Nord are same quality screen?
I checked Samsung S20+ VS S20 FE side-by-side and the S20 FE was noticeably inferior in screen quality though both claimed to be Amoled.
Hence now im skeptical of these mid rangers. Wonder why isnt the screen quality discussed in details other than just resolution
@@UrDaddy4Real it depends what you want from your phone and what you can afford. The screen is alright, a good size and displays most things quite nicely, the lack of brightness can be an issue, particularly on sunny days (not a huge issue for me living in the UK though). The high end phones have much better screens, but also have a price tag at least 2x that of the Nord.
Initially I didn't see much of an upgrade, but the longer I've had it, I can see the upgrades are mostly the chipsets/performance. My OP3 couldn't run a lot of augmented reality apps, which the Nord can handle quite well. That being said, I've seen my Nord struggle with simple Instagram filters too though.
Ultimately you do mostly get what you pay for with the phones, the Nord is a decent phone, but it is a mid-range phone so is never going to beat a high-end phone. But, you do get a decent phone for the money, the battery life is good, the charge time is crazy fast.
One annoying feature of the Nord for me is the camera. In the right conditions, you can get some great shots on it, but then, so could my OP3. The high res, 48mp camera has a nice wide angle lens and takes good shots, but, it takes about 3 seconds between shots for it to process the image, meaning if you want to take multiple shots quickly, you have no chance. The main 12mp sensor is quicker and does give some nice images, but isn't a "great" camera. The wide angle lens is a nice feature but low res and the macro is abysmal. The front cameras are pretty poor quality too, but mostly do the job. Essentially this is a decent enough all round, relatively cheap phone, it can handle pretty much any use but doesn't excel in any areas and is not going to rival a high end phone in any area.
Personally, I don't use my phone for much more than calls, texts, internet browsing and photos, so just basic use, and the Nord works for me because of the cheaper price. If you do anything more demanding, I think you may regret buying one if you have the means to buy a more expensive phone.
If you're poor or cheap like me, it's a good enough compromise, but doesn't feel like as much of a bargain as the OP3 did.
@@DanDannyDanDan_ im also a non gamer, average camera user, mostly need for browsing & reading. I just want no compromise in screen quality. I wudnt mind paying more for OP8 if its better screen. I find no one comparing screen quality side-by-side. I guess il have to visit used phone market to experience myself

He is talking about plastic now bcoz he watched Jerryrigeverything yesterday
SMH
I like how they always talk like plastic is the worse option. He literally said in the video it's more durable.
@@SaithusX I would rather have the metal frame and a plastic back rather than a plastic frame and a glass back though. At least then you would get the added strength from the metal alongside the durability from the plastic. Plus, plastic is usually a lot less slippery than glass.
yes JerryRigEverything broke this phone, it shows Marques has less information on the build quality.
Lord AB Yeah metal is more durable. But man having plastic isn’t the worse thing. They always knock it. Damn Nokia phones was nothing but plastic and more durable than all the current phones
4 years of this phone still best ♥️
I spent around 30$ on my realme 5 and honestly This is more than enough 😌❣️

Giant Runt nah ur right
That also makes sense there just selling the Oneplus Nord to the eastern markets such Europe and South Asia. There building credible reputations, while still selling there flagship in America and Canada where the prices are generally a bit higher.
Good review. Well thought out. Like your presentation, good on screen image and excellent speaking voice. The delivery was not hurried. The detail in your review was helpful. I'm familiar with the One+ / Oppo / Realme group phones and your review helped to firm up my decision to not consider the Nord. Cheers
"the logical thing to do here"... Is to listen through the album like 5 times Marques😃

Ewww, logic

Rorschach 6666 he’s talking about logic last album no pressure, which Marques shows right before he says “the logical thing to do” at 6:55
The Truth = It's a great mid-tier range phone for the price but everyone feels underwhelmed by it due to the aggressive marketing and hype surrounding it which is why people call it overhyped.
to be fair, a lot of mid range phones suffer the same fate, the A51 and iphone se were overhyped and of course they didn't live up to the expectations
i still remember when they release oneplus 3 and 5 and they were the perfect phones and delivered exactly what the community wanted, but now idk...
JessyJC huh? Samsung A series phones have never received any glorification from major youtubers and the SE definitely delivered for what it is and it's price. The way youtubers treated the Nord was like it's some sort of flagship with a midrange price when really all it is is a good midrange phone.
@@squirlywirl well major youtubers aren't the entire world, you obviously have never seen hindi channels or spanish channels, the market in the US is so limited its funny

I've owned about 3 one plus phones and was very happy with them. I got bored with Samsung so I went one plus for about 3 years. Now I've been using hauwei mate 20 x for over 16 months now and couldn't be happier
The processor and the other hardware is more important to me than camera,
they could have saved their money on cameras and had given a better processor and a better built phone ,
these mobile manufacturers need to change and think out of the box now ,as just updating a camera with better features or more mega pixels won't go for the crowd like me who uses camera just once or twice in a week .
better PROCESSOR ,better OS and good BUILT is just i want .
hope this series get better with the coming versions.
Marques: It's better than not having a speaker at all
**2 years later**
Apple: releases phone with no speakers
Then they ask for 150 bucks to activate the speaker just like tesla😂

@@matthewlin4551 of course, that's inevitable...based on the knowledge i have about apple and what it does to products...

As a budget phone, the Nord really should have included the headphone jack.
WHY DOES EVERY MANUFACTURER REMOVE IT? IT'S SO DAMNED USEFUL!
That would have sold it as 'budget' in my mind. Apple and Samsung have made the 3.5mm jack seem like a budget thing.
the only reason I can see for having a headphone jack is for high end wired studio headphones. I don't know why a budget phone would need one
No new phones have headphome jacks get over it. Cheap or expensive.
@@arcanum3882 ppl already have headphones. you're making ppl have to spend more just to hear without jack

I've said it before and I'm gonna say this again. This phone is straight up lifted from the realme X50 pro in terms of design. The only difference between both is the branding. After all, realme and oneplus are from the same parent company 🤷
Yes, so many people don't realise this. They think Realme, Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus are competing while in fact they're the same company, BBK Electronics.
If the realme x50 pro was for like 30000 here in India, no one would have even thought about NORD😅
Yes and CZcamsr do not says about that, After all One plus have lots of money...
We also have to keep in mind that the OS is night and day different
No its "oppo reno 3 pro" rebranded
You should review and look back at the Xperia Compact series. They have basically been doing what the Nord is, just better, for a long time.
You say the truth and that's the reason I love & respect you brother !♥️🙏

Most probably one of the best straight-forward unbiased review of the Nord I've watched here
Ordered one to replace my old Huawei Mate 20 Lite and it surely will be good enough for me. Got a Xiaomi for a while ... what a crap. Not the phone itself but mostly the OS overlay ... OS / Interface should be a more important criteria in the reviews IMO (I want my phone to be responsive and customizable, who's seriously playing CoD on a phone or use it to take professional pictures anyway ?)
50% of my decision to buy a OnePlus is driven by OxygenOS, can't wait to test it
