    The wife got the Grand Highlander this past August. She has had a lot of issues with it. It has been to the dealership at least a half dozen times. Mostly for missing parts clamps, seat track close outs, and other HVAC ducts. The door lock stopped working on the passenger side rear door. The lift gate close button stopped working for awhile. The infotainment is super buggy. I have my 2013 highlander, thing still runs like a champ. The grand highlander just needs to work out it production issues, before I would recommend anyone else to buy one. Oh ya the wife just reminded me the hood is so thin it flutters at highway speeds.

      This is surprising to me as I owe the same GH hybrid limited since September but had no issues. I sometimes get 35 to 40 mpg but I understand that is not consistent as they have made it in such a way that it saves like 5 gallons in the reserve tank. I heard they are working on a software to correct that. Besides that, it's been a smooth ride. My wife and the kids all love it.

    Now you see why SUV's are such a hit in the USA, especially for growing families. You ought to drive the Tahoe/Yukon with the 3.0 Duramax diesel. With 460 fl.lbs of torque available at just 1,500 rpm, it's the closest to an electric that you can buy in an ICE SUV. This motor is surprisingly smooth and quiet. Plus, you'll have a range of 600 miles as a bonus!

    Great video. Does having a carseat in a second row prevent the seat from moving forward for easier access to third row?

    • @elHus0
      @elHus0 Před 3 měsíci

      As an owner of a GH, you can move the seats back and forth with the latches at the bottom. Carseat does not allow for the seat to fold so the shoulder levers are not as responsive since this usually causes the seat to fold and then move. This also makes it hard for a third row user to use the shoulder latch to get out.

    • @user-yg6lg7zr6e
      @user-yg6lg7zr6e Před 3 měsíci

      Thank you very much. I am waiting for a GH. I'm a Grandmother and I am wondering how many forward facing carseats it can hold. It's much more complicated now and the sales people don't seem to know much about carseats. Any input on this subject that you can give me would be appreciated. I purchased the bench seat option. Again, Great video. @@elHus0

    • @elHus0
      @elHus0 Před 3 měsíci

      @@user-yg6lg7zr6e The 2nd row has 2 latches (1 for each main seat). I don't think there is a latch behind the middle bench seat. The 3rd how has 2 latches but they close to each other. I assume it's there to give you the option to chose, but it seems you can only place one forward facing seat back there. So it seems you can fit up to 3 forward facing car seats (if you're only using the LATCH system).

    It all boils down to which is most convenient for you in the end. In my opinion, electric vehicles (EVs) are the most efficient way to drive in towns and cities. Gas-powered cars can also be very efficient when driven on the highway , but their efficiency quickly decreases when driving through cities. For this reason, if you only drive on the highway, a gas hybrid would be the best option. EVs are a better option if you want to drive only about town, but regardless of how much others attempt to convince you otherwise, owning an EV will save you more money than driving a gas-powered vehicle.

    The insurance on a Grand Highlander is going to be significantly less. When I switched from a current gen 4Runner TRD Offroad to my Tesla Model Y LR my insurance almost tripled for the same coverage. I have zero accidents. I was told it was because teslas are luxury vehicles, they’re expensive to repair, and repair times are usually long because they pretty much have to be fixed at a Tesla center. I shopped around a bit for different insurance but it was in the same ballpark price between several different companies.

    There are advantages and disadvantages owning an Electric Vehicle, a hybrid and a gas engine vehicle. I would go for the Toyota Hybrid Highlander over the BMW.
    Yes. With the Highlander there is more maintenance costs and the vehicle has to be fueled occasionally. And going to gas station on a rare occasion could have complications like all the pumps are being used or one is not paying attention and finds out while beginning to fuel that the pump is broken, out of fuel or the pump is trying to scam you out of pennies.
    Time is money too. With the Highlander, one can go on a more efficient route instead of a zig-zagging route to charge the EV vehicle. However, in the past year, there have been more locations with chargers. In Houston, I have seen chargers appear at a suburban shopping mall, a shopping area out of town and even a grocery store parking lot three-quarters of a mile.
    Personally, I think the government is pushing citizens too hard and too fast into EVs.
    The future is your family and you. Decide between electric and space, less maintenance and more maintenance, charging and fueling.
    Also with fueling, usually you spend less than 10 minutes and then you are on your way to a restaurant if your choice instead restaurants that happen to be nearest the charging center.

    BE CAREFUL BEFORE YOU BUY A NEW GRAND HIGHLANDER .Grand Highlander Having a bad sound issue .
    I bought a brand new Grand Highlander 2024 and it`s making a booing sound and too much pressure in the cabin and it`s giving me and my family a headache and ear pain. the sound is coming from bottom of the car from the 2nd raw area. I brought it back to the dealership and they said there was a another GH owner also having the same sound issue and they don`t know how to fix the issue .I couldn't drive the car because the sound giving us ear pain and headache. I contact the Toyota customer care many times and they are not doing anything on it. I am really Upset and I never expect something from a trusted brand like Toyota. Now I spend a huge amount of money and I cannot drive the car . The dealership and Toyota don`t know how to solve the issue. so be careful before you buy a Grand Highlander. Do a test drive and make sure there is no such sound on your car because even if you bring it back to fix it ,they don`t know how to fix it .

    Ehh. Thanks but no thanks. Still not sure why Toyota didnt double down over a decade ago if this drive train technology was do great. Your to younger to have cared about hybrid tech when it first started coming out. I've said it before and I'll keep saying it....Toyota and the rest of the rabel never adverstied hybrid so heavy until their bread and butter was being burned infront of their eyes. No real advertisements that said how amazing it was compared to plain ice. No push to reduce its cost development..nothing pushed by anybody...but now that EVs are a perfect replacement....oh no...get a hybrid...get a hybrid..please dont dump us...let me show you this. Ohhh look at its size...ohhh.
    Please. Hybrid tech is early 2000 garbage. Phevs are a complete maintenance nightmare in the second hand market. It again was tried and proven to undesirable.
    Bevs are the correct choice. The charging infrastructure is not your 2010s infrastructure. It is not shrinking, its growing. Stop looking at the past already.
    Lord, every time the middle east farts or sneezes your gas prices spike...wake up. America has tons of oil, gas, nuclear, hydro, coal, solar, and wind....why are we still letting the middle east dictatate our prices? Plenty of power in the US for EVs now. Ditch the ice already, and move to EVs as you need.
