Genesis Revisited - Live at Hammersmith - a unique performance with guests including Nik Kershaw, John Wetton, Jakko Jakszyk, Steve Rothery and Amanda Lehmann. - Hudba
From a devoted Genesis fan this is amazing! Magical, mystical like the old days. Nad is a great vocal addition to the haunting somehow theatrical talent of Steve and the other boys. Yes I wish Genesis were there in the old format , but man this is a great alternative ……..the guitar solo at the end is just amazing, anyone who really loves `Suppers Ready I mean those who know every word , piano or guitar rift, those who looked at Genesis as gods in the 70's will love steves extension of this classic.
Agreed. The only thing that could be discussed is the theatrical aspect, which is missing there. Though, the theatrical was Peter Gabriel's back in the days. Anyone mimic-ing him today, that would be kinda ridiculous. Musically speaking, I find Steve's Genesis Revisited to sound better than the original versions.
Steve Hackett Composer merco sTEVE
@ i disagree, the interpretation of this music requires the theatrics. It´s not about peter´s style only, every genesis song has an unique life and story line to tell. However Steve Hackett sang it extremely well.
Ricardo Dacanal Steve Hackett doesn’t sing?
Mind blowing vocalist. Never did I imagine ever hearing Supper's Ready being sung like this again. And that goes for all the other Genesis songs he has done for Steve as well.
Nad Sylvan and Gary O'Toole bring back the PG/PC harmony vibe exactly. Shivers, Goosflesh, memories...
This guy does a great job singing like Gabriel not an easy task!
Gary O'Toole, so musical both singing and playing drums. I miss his playing with the Steve Hackett Band.
Nad Sylvan… WOW!
Yeah.
Steve doesn’t play the guitar....he projects his soul through the guitar. It truly is a gift.
It makes so sad because I am so plain and boring
At 21:11, Nad does the Peter Gabriel Bleat! "I think it's gonna work out fi-hi-hi-hi-hi-hine." He nailed it! Not even Gabriel himself always did the Bleat!
I'm always amazed at the musicianship it required to compose and perform these Genesis classics. That and the balls required to play every note, beat and nuance in front of audiences of thousands who know the material in detail. Astonishing.
You are absolutely right! I was watching In the Shadow of the Hierophant 2016 before this, and was thinking the exact same thing. The mathematical precision of that piece, played by all members with such determination, and flawlessly, is nothing short of amazing!
I do believe I would piss pants right proper
I’m always gobsmacked that the band were in their early twenties when they composed this intricate piece of music. Astonishing. Look at today’s “musicians “ and weep.
Yes, these early pieces were so perfect that every note and tone needs to be hit in order to fulfill the expectations of those who know them in and out. It's great that they took this project so seriously.. After listening to some interviews with Phil, I understand now why I wasn't so happy with his performance of these classics.. he didn't seem to like them that much.
The crown jewel of Genesis songs .
Cinema show is quite excellent too though
In 300 years they will still talk about the brilliance of Genesis and the individual members.
They will treat this as we do Motzark now
That is so beautiful..
Nad Sylvan is Genesis
Thank you
25 minutes of goosebumps!
Great!!
I've been a fan since the early 70s and yes, I am one of those who prefer when Gabriel and Hackett were in the band. Having seen them back in the early days, this is a genuine clone with Nad doing an excellent role with the vocals. If you want to capture the flavour of the early Genesis, I suggest you go and see Steve Hackett, he and his band have it nailed !!
The greatest song of all times, originally from Genesis 1972 album called "FOXTROT".
Les Blat didn’t matter what they looked like to me, it’s what they sounded like that mattered, now those roles have changed and look where it’s got us?!
Nads stage presence is unbelievable, wish I was there
This music is really so great that even with the occasional silly lyric, it holds up so well it puts current pop to shame. THIS is musicianship.
Current pop? Don’t get me started. Steve and band keeping Genesis material alive with their own take 🙏
The lyrics sound great, they fit and punctuate the music. Peter's diction was flawless and adds interest and character.
The lyrics are great. They are tongue in cheek, but there's plenty of meaning. The soil, the soil the soil !
All great, but it has to be said what a fantastic performance from the lead vocalist. Never going to be easy pulling this one off, but he did.
Nad rules!
Suppers Ready is just the most amazing musical experience ever created and 45 years after it was first recorded and Steve Hackett has brought it too life with perfection
Roger King is a superb keyboardist.
Supper's Ready is a gift from the greatest rock band of all time!
Greatest or every other superlative should be used in athletics, not music.
anonymusum exept with Genesis...
Steve Hackett is a wizard on that guitar.
Amazing to see him live. Seeing him next week in Wales. I cannot wait. Love Steve's playing and his personality
Elle me retourne toujours autant
Cette musique est toujours aussi magique.
Et moi, j'avais -1 an...
on special but unfotunate days for human life, the best of music to overcome the anguish
Credit where credit’s due. This is fabulous
Nad Sylvan is great
👀
Vocalist did a great job! It was challenging in every aspect.
Amazing! The drummer is spot on, the voice is close enough to bring back some memories and Hackett hasn’t lost his touch a bit. Hackett is the greatest finesse guitarist alive. Steve Hackett is the real thing!
A legendary guitarist... He compliments every musician around him.
Steve keeping old Genesis alive. Top bloke
An absolutely stunning live performance by Steve & his band, here!!
Stunning. Moves me to tears every time in listen. And being there live is truly memorable.
Btw, I'm a real fan of Ned as a singer and performer. Hes himself, but also true to the original Genesis sound
There are two songs that stands out from that time : Close to the edge and Suppers Ready!! It's magic👍👍
need to check out Keeper of the Seven Keys that stands out too.
What about Firth of fifth?
Definitely not. Tarkus, Karn Evil, The Barbarian or Trilogy could easily be mentioned as well.
There are many songs that stand out from that time, too many.
Those are my two favorite songs of all time. I would also add "The Truth Will Set You Free" by The Flower Kings, for a more recent classic that stands among the all time greats.
I can’t listen to the sure as eggs is eggs ending without getting goose bumps!
Saw them in Plymouth yesterday and the whole concert was a stunner. Suppers Ready though was the highlight. Goosebumps all the way. Fantastic.
Seconds out still my favourite version of this fantastic song but this has the update of the quality of much better instrumental technology.
Love playing this song loud, it is spectacular- Wow, Nad has just did this songs justice, and in all fairness, have to include- his incredible spirit- soul, all that art and creativity, just flows well with a genius artist like Mr. Hackett- incredible- I just am loving time to go through my favorites over and over. Afterglow..Cinama show - the greek love song- and 32 doors were you find the creepy crawler-, and the pink heart getting shaved..ok..sorry, see I did it again.
Damm i still LOVE hearing and watching this !
MUSIC that will be with us FOREVER.
I can’t put this performance into words. Truly amazing , can’t believe I drove around in the 80s with this blasting out of my ford escort, seen this crew live at bexhill, woooow absolutely brilliant ❤😂😢xxx
Finally, we get to really see Steve play this. In so many of the old videos of Genesis performances it seems that the various camera operators forgot he was there, even though he was over there killing it on guitar. Can't really blame them though because in so much of their music there was so much going on that it couldn't be captured in one shot, they really needed 5 cameras with each one focusing on just one member, and then they could have released all 5 versions.
Suppers ready and the musical box are the among the best songs ever written. Easily the best Genesis has done. Why on earth Peter did not unite to perform these ? Now Steve has fooled you all - he is now a Legend. When Peter donned the foxes head, he wasn’t to know this was his greatest song ever.
Steve Hackett is not playing the guitar. He is tapping in, he is connecting. Incredible Art!
Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar
Interface Tech. System
As a devoted of Prog Rock just can say thank you for all the beautiful music
Will be awesome to see Hackett again this fall! Finally I will get to hear Supper's Ready live!!
I think that in Paradise we Will Heard this music!!!!
Hackett Is the real Genesis
Once upon a time it was called MUSIC....🎶Beyond our bounded rationality...astonishingly beautiful!
...they kept the ability to perform it. No need for a necrology, @Ade F :) We humans make decisions, it's part of something called evolution. Astonishing, beautiful, but not necessarily beyond ourselves... rationality makes it happen and keeps it (even though I can feel your intention). I really love both sides of me, of us, not knowing why I do read the comments, do this post... what to answer into this online world? Hope you're still around, listening... love, Anke :)
Bellissima, magia pura. Maurizio
Now that's how you recreate the past.
Just sublime.
22:33 EPIC moment of the song !, absolutely amazing how Genesis can take you slowly to that moment when you surrender to his music and let it go everything, like nothing else matters in life. Maybe the most important band in history of music.
Listening to Genesis is so meditative and soothing for me. The many subtleties and licks have me sing not only the words but the music. Just masterpiece!
seen them live nad brilliant and steve of course
A jaw dropping performance!! Wow!! I love this song so much and I just had tears throughout this video. Unbelievable. Thank you!
This is absolutely fantastic, everyone on stage is amazing!
the phrase "Feel My Body Melt" enlightened me in my meditation back in prep school nighttime devotions as if it was an epiphany perhaps an aha moment.
I saw Genesis perform this several times and i can tell you its close really really good.
I am truly sad that I missed the opportunity to see genesis just once.
I probably saw Genesis a dozen times at Hammy Odeon going back to the 70's. This is triggering so many memories.
Thanks Steve.
Blessings to you all🙏
Suppers Ready! The greatest piece of music 🎶 ever written! Classical or popular! Never Ntie.
Thanks for posting. What a masterpiece. I was fortunate to be there at Hammersmith. Steve has done an excellent job to preserve this song. He ended the song the way he wanted it with more harmony dominated by his guitar. Play me my song Steve! Keep up the good work. Wish I could come to your SEBTP tour.
MAGNÍFICO. EXTRAORDINÁRIO. OBRA DE ARTE !!!!!!!!
Beautiful. Flawless performance!
Totally awesome video! @Rulie Arifin, Thanks man for posting this perfect quality video and performance. Aound, image and visual are fantastic.
And what a performance by these brilliant musicians. And AWESOME vocal too. 🎤🎸🎤🎸🥁🤘🤘🤘
The last movement, As Sure as Eggs is Eggs, is such a moving, spiritual experience. Wow! So worshipful for me, personally. Don't know if Peter Gabriel meant it that way, but it doesn't matter.... I am moved each and every time by those lyrics and the music genius to worship. Amen!
As good as it gets, no idea how often I've listened to this, absolutely wonderful. Every single member of that band got it spot on. Very moving, can't get this song out of my head. Don't want to!!!!!
I have been fortunate enough to see Steve's band on several occasions. Supper's Ready has always been one of the highlights :)
This was My Time...
And it was wonderful
Just awesome and ned is doing an awesome job love it see you in Sacramento, ca
what a performance
The sounds of goodness & brilliance keep on going with the band Steve it is grand to see & hear this beautiful song even tho" it's only on my phone. Would love to see this band live.Nad is superb !!
Pretty damned amazing. I was lucky enough to see Steve do this twice in Genesis Post Gabriel. Unfortunately when I saw Lamb, they played that in its entirety, with just Watcher and Box for encores. (Phil did an outstanding job though). Steve is keeping the flame alive, _long may he reign!_
This is a true legacy of GENESIS
Seeing the stupid price of the tickets for the recently announced Genesis reunion tour... I'm saving my money and going to see Steve Hackett instead
As I have free tickets for the reunion tour (Son with contacts) I will be there but must find time to see Steve pity he is not doing the support band he can concentrate on 72- 77 and the rest on the rest.
Now that would be brilliant.
I saw Genesis twice before they sold out, and would most definately go see Steve Hackett instead of Genesis.
you're such a hater for saying that, sure the prices are quite expensive, but holy fuck, a reunion after so many years. i'd die for a ticket to see them for once in my life, and i'm 28yo
@@NicolasSilvaVasault If you'd die for a ticket, you'd be dead and unable to see them.
The prices are ridiculous. Genesis are far pass their prime now, all three of them will be in their 70 when the concerts take place. Phil can't drum anymore and has to sit down for most of his live performances.
They are no longer the band they used to be.
@@samueljanderson When I posted that over a month ago, we weren't in lock-down and I can not see into the future.
See my point?
Roger King keyboard playing at many bars in the sort of inexactitude of Banks' original version faithful to my memory when listening back in the late '70s-'80s. Marvelous!
Excellent yet again from Steve and company. This song is the pinnacle of art and beauty.
Cant wait when they head back to the USA on tour. I want to see them LIVE, just one more time ...so I can feel it deep in my soul and vibes of the Instruments
one more time are you kidding I would be beyond my self to see them once
certainly the glue that flowed through the veins of genesis their loss nicely done Mr Hackett and co .
Genesis on steroids. Amazing.
Sanctuary man is Gesesis on Viagra.
Jason Barbush why? Are they all vertically challenged? 😉
Steve Hackett being an original lineup in Genesis surely brings it back home again!. Thank you Steve for the sound of Genesis to be experienced 40 somewhat years later!!!!
Steve was not in the original Genesis lineup. Anthony Phillips was the original guitarist, followed by Mick Bernard(?) then Steve. Steve was in the classic lineup of Banks/Collins (their 4th drummer)/Gabriel/Hackett and Rutherford.
i saw this In Toronto at Old Massey Hall....sound and performance was indescribable
GENIAL.
The greatest piece of popular music ever written! Amazing how they can get through it without sheet music! Classical musicians take note! Genius!
Sencillamente maravilloso !
You guys ROCKED! Missing the old Genesis days
Seen hackett live in quebec city canada 2016.......fkn amazing.......so true too the real deal.and also....hacketts solo career.....really really amazing........concert that will never be forgotten.......period.
Though not one of my favorite songs, this is not only a song, this is a hymn. A masterpiece.
Lord of Lords, King of Kings
With Gary and Lee , love this.
I can’t remember if at the time they wrote this piece and everything to masterfully orchestrate it, Tony was much influenced by the B sides of king crimson’s album and van der Graff Generator’s Pawn Hearts album. It be nice to know where Steve’s creative force came from. I think his sound and composition is frankly the most important part of early Genesis spirit despite being somewhat drowned out by Tony’s keyboards. In his subtle way, Steve has kept that spirit alive more than any other member; even in his solo work. It’s a dated feeling, definitely with nostalgic tones but instantly takes one back in time.
Gabriel was the other member that ‘moved on’ creatively as a powerhouse pushing innovation. Some fans preferred to trap him within the band frame, but he probably couldn’t help distancing himself. All the better for it. Another incredible body of work.
Some of the remaining member’s work together is rightfully incredible in its own way; I just lost interest after a while. But I am grateful they enjoyed massive commercial success.
I like the less pop stuff Phil did, but some of the soundtrack stuff was really awesome. I think that’s his true creative vein coming from more of a television broadcast upbringing.
I think the most timeless work for the whole would be The Lamb. I never grow tired of that album.
So pleased I caught this live, huge influence on my playing as well
That moment when you read the description and see the credits of the musicians performing and realize the keyboard player once played with Snoop Dogg,, now that's musically diversity
that Steve Hackett was a magnificent guitarist I was sure since I know the genesis (always) .. I start to believe that he is the greatest of all the others
Nad is a great vocal..........fantastic back to the original past
Saw them at Hammersmith it was brilliant!
A Masterpiece!!
