I love the fact that Steve Hackett does not think playing with tribute bands is beneath him. Excited to have just discovered Genetics. Paris concert please!
Sure, and why should it be beneath him, it's the only chance he gets to play with that original band layout and era which he loves and celebrates. It would never happen with the real guys. (Who knows, maybe it will in their 80s)
Maybe that's what 'Steve' means. I saw Fragile (the Yes tribute group) in Dartford some years ago with Steve Howe as the support act. The order was Steve, then Fragile, then Fragile with Steve. Great show. This one looked like it was good too :)
@@paolocoletti1574 He plays regularly with his own band, playing early Genesis material faithfully same as these guys, and his own material! David is quite right. Many rock stars will indeed think that even recognising a tribute band, let alone playing with them, is indeed "beneath them". Steve is not one of those. Quite the opposite. He is a totally decent, modest, generous guy, and you can see how he absolutely loved playing this concert with such a bunch of talented musicians!
It's amazing how Genesis actually produced this music and then Genetics some 40 plus years later provide a near perfect rendition of that beautiful music. Brilliant to bring Genesis - the band we love - to life in modern times. Steve amazing as always. Thank you, Genetics for reminding us why we we fell in love with Genesis but even how the modern and current generation is afforded that chance to also enjoy it simply because of what you do.
Hacket is the HEART of Genesis! He keeps some of the most incredible Prog alive for those of us who can NOT get enough. Suppers ready live MIND BLOWING!
It's really nice to see Steve playing with this talented group of musicians, I think they complement each other well, it's clear that they love the music of Genesis as much as we do.
Finally a singer that can sing As Sure As Eggs Is Eggs in the original album key, without hurting his voice. Peter Gabriel did it on a few occasions in the first tour where they played the song, but he always ruined his voice with it. Phil Collins, Nad Sylvan, that lead singer from that Icelandic prog orchestra and god-knows-who haven't even tried it in the original key. I find this hands down the best live performance by any group of Supper's Ready I've ever heard: 10/10.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT Could not fault it. I’m speechless! 👏👏👏😀 The melody of the 3 guitars for the last 5 mins was spine tingling. SUPERB! This song has been the soundtrack to my life for 45 years, I know it like the back of my hand, word for word, note for note. BRAVO GENETICS! BRAVO STEVE! A classic performance that had me literally in tears of joy.
What an ending. Unbeatable. To be able to play music like this, truly outstanding. Almost 50 years old. Not me, this music. I’ve been listening to all those years and it never fails to move me.
By the time of the last line of the song "to take us to a new Jerusalem!!!" I am always in tears. Every. Single. Time. I don't think there is any other piece of music that does this to me - it's like a Pavlovian response. This version is no exception - it is so beautiful that I had tears streaming from my eyes by the end. And that guitar duel at the finale! I'm in awe of how these guys from Argentina studied the music of a band from the sleepy southern suburbs of England in the late 60s and made it their own - at all times showing respect for the music. No artistic licences, no contrivances - just a pure homage, played by musicians that are ridiculously talented. A special shout out to the singer - of all the Genesis tribute acts, this guy nails that essence that PG had. For anyone who went down the rabbit hole like I did with Genetics recently, there is a full show on CZcams recorded in their home country of Argentina. It looks like it was a TV broadcast - in any case, it's the full show, and it's sublime.
PERFECT! I'm still amazed after all these years of listening to this song that it "works" as a complete song, because it somehow seems to be just a patchwork of individual song parts - but it works.
In this horrible days, of pandemic and in meantime disguisting noise that people of new generation dare to call music, this divine notes and chords played whit god's perfection is really heaven. Thank to the original 5 album Genesis, and thank to Master of the guitar sound Steve H. and the surprising perfection of the Genetics... Thank you very much for post this.
I' m from Florence Italy. Is possibile , after Summer, if the VAX block that pandemic, a brief tour in my country? I reach your concert everywhere if this will happen.. A old/forever young fan of the real original genesis (the 5 peace squad). And from today a Genetics fan too. I wait with faith...

wow the guitar solo of Steve at the end of THE greatest track of Genesis is just amazing.I've been listening this band for 50 years now ,just discovered this interpretation by Steve ,Magic !
What a great performance, it reminds me of Drury Lane in '73 (or '74) when Genesis played all of Selling England and finished with Supper's Ready. I love the singer.
This is really Good. It is always going to be difficult to reproduce such a complex piece of music live AND satisfy all the fans of that music/band. But Genetics have struck an excellent balance. Great to see Steve play with them as well, obviously his love of the music is greater than his ego - It's usually the other way round with the famous these days.
Now that I have watched the whole video, I have to say this. When you see Steve playing with his "Genesis Revisited" band you notice his generosity and humility, that he is "team-player". When Steve plays Supper's Ready with his band, the long solo at the end is one of his "spotlight moments". But here it is not "my solo", it's "our duo". This must have been a very special moment for your excellent guitarist - it is an excellent moment for me listening. 😊
Steve Hackett turned out to be the only member of the classic Genesis line up to keep these old songs alive. Saw him twice on Cruise to the Edge 2013-14 and many times with his band performing classic Genesis. This group is new to me and this version is good 👍
Fantastic band and an amazing singer plus flute player. This is a really long and tough song to play. The Genetics nailed it. Great job. It's even better with Steve there as well.
As someone who was fortunate enough to see Genesis perform when Steve Hackett was still an active member of the band, you are doing full justice to their legacy. Anyone who wonders what it was like to see them in their classic period should make the effort to see Genetics in concert. You won't get any closer to the original experience than this.
That's what I've been saying recently too! Pete's pretty much in retirement mode at this point, but I've always wondered why he and Steve don't play together one final time.
Impecables!

Suppers Ready is my favorite Genesis song and I thought this performance was spectacular! Few bands can perform their songs almost exactly as they are recorded on the album ~ and for a cover band to do it is very special!
Incredible job guys. The ending gave me goosebumps, just like the original. We all know how great Steve is, but the rest of you are tremendous musicians.
Indeed very good . Better and THE BEST however is 'The Musical Box from Canada' . I've seen them 9 times and their shows are complete copies from the original shows , from instruments to slides, lights , clothing etc. With them you are actually catapulted back in time. And Hackett and Collins have played guest at one time, and Gabriel went to see them.
@@Spock105 I second that, though this version of SR by genetics is very good. I’ve seen TMB twice in Liverpool philharmonic hall and they blew my mind with the lamb show, then I saw them do a mix of stuff from 70-76 including dance on a volcano.

Love this. Love that Steve is playing with a tribute band that is a bit rough (the drums, for example), and supporting the enduring love for this extraordinary music. Older Genesis music is woven deeply into the fabric of my youth, and simply never goes away. 💙❤️🙏🏻
Supper's Ready, never fails to elicit a tear during the outro ! With Gabriel's, there's an angel standing in the sun, and Steve's beautiful crying Angel, wailing guitar. Forty years for me collecting music, and still there's no band that touches Genesis.
Having been a Genesis fan since the early 70's, and still listening to their fabulous music every week, I can honestly state this is a brilliant rendition, both instrumentally and vocally. Subscribing to your channel is a no brainer.
My God! Someone has successfully cloned Peter Gabriel!! Seriously though, this was an inspiring performance. I’ve been listening to this piece for over forty years and it’s still one of my favorites. Maybe of all time. This is my first listen to Genetics too and I’m just stunned by how well this was played. I saw the “Seconds Out” tour and it still ranks as maybe the best concert that I’ve ever seen. These guys did the piece justice. That’s saying a lot. (Is that a real double neck Rickenbacker?!)

Love this. Love that Steve is playing with a tribute band that is a bit rough (the drums, for example), and supporting the enduring love for this extraordinary music. Older Genesis music is woven deeply into the fabric of my youth, and simply never goes away. 💙❤️🙏🏻
very nice. Great to hear a younger group keep this great music alive!
Supper's Ready, never fails to elicit a tear during the outro !
With Gabriel's, there's an angel standing in the sun, and Steve's beautiful crying Angel, wailing guitar.
Forty years for me collecting music, and still there's no band that touches Genesis.
How awesome is the hear the double guitars on this version at the end!
Having been a Genesis fan since the early 70's, and still listening to their fabulous music every week, I can honestly state this is a brilliant rendition, both instrumentally and vocally. Subscribing to your channel is a no brainer.
Brilliant lead guitar by both players Hacket seemed to enjoy it
(Is that a real double neck Rickenbacker?!)
yes its a Real Rickembacker double neck! very hard to found!
@@guillermogonitorello7328 Wow! Yes, they’re very rare. I love the Rickenbacker bass sound. Nothing else sounds like one. I’ve owned a couple, 4001 and 4003. I’m looking at a Walnut 5 string now. Your playing is excellent!
God damn, this was good.
Amazing performance....if you close your eyes is as same as listening Genesis from Peter Gabriel early in the 70s....congrats and all mis respects to Genetics & the allways distinguished Steve Hackett
These Guys do an Amazingly Good job of recreating early Genesis Music
Agreed. It helps to have maestro Steve Hackett himself there too, of course. Terrific guitar fireworks especially at the end. And the singer's uncanny voice and resemblance to the young Peter Gabriel - remarkable!
