6:03 proves that the speaker makes a world of difference to an amplifier.
I like the way they put actual orange's next to the amp
That one on top is so close to falling off
i want one to put googly eyes on and keep as my pet amp
Watt would you name him?
Bruzrk gro-Malog gunther
Roтary
could work aswell
Vite Amin C - mr.c
I'm gonna do the same thing, his name will be Gilbert and he will be my favorite child.
The problem with these two is I've never heard a bad review....not one
+Reece Smoot Their reviews are entertaining... but I never would take to heart anything they say. Just can't trust their bias options.
+zigzagbigbag Well I guess they ARE demoing stuff which their shop sells. Put it this way, would you take something you were trying to sell, demo it, and then tell everyone it was crap? Like Reece Smoot said, these vids are great for getting an idea about gear before considering to buy it.
+Jon Mayo that and you can tell on their faces if they're not too fond of it.
+zigzagbigbag well actually with gear you can use your own ears too!
+Reece Smoot even with the reshoot they didn't seem too fond of the Cab Clone
It's amazing what this little amp has done for my playing. It has single-handedly re-awakened my spirit for playing. I have fallen in love with tone again and decided to switch back to tube amps exclusively. This amp being so affordable has been a huge blessing. I traded in my Line 6 Spider IV 75 Watt Amp to buy this amp and small cabinet and have no regrets whatsoever.
You have no idea how bad I want to show up at a gig with this head into a 4x12 cab. Sounds incredible, too!
YES the Orange Micro Terror is waaayyy more than gig worthy! If it doesn't sound right then it's the player. Seriously this Amp is a no brainier! These things are a tremendous value!
Can you gig with a drummer with a clean setting on the amp?
There is always a way.
If your drummer listens, and works with the guitarist absolutely. If your not mic'd up and the drummer hits too hard for what your playing then not so much.
@@geteese Depends on you cabinet. A 4x12 in a 4 ohm (speaker resistance) configuration, there no way there would be a problem hearing you.
@@TheZombie4u you can never hit a drum too hard
@@dickhead1253 if you can't be heard over the drummer, you aren't loud enough
I have looked about a half dozen video reviews of the Micro Terror, but ^this^ review is by far the best. You guys really put that little machine through its paces and showed off what it can do. (And thanks for the clean riffs and blues jam!)
1:34 "OHH its so small!!" forgive me for laughing at the fact that sounded like a dead on excited stewie from family guy impression lol
Sounded like my ex
moogmanXanders :(
I just got my micro terror amp head, it was jaw dropping the kind of tone and volume you can get out this little giant, I am a professional guitarist and I do music for a living, when you have to carry around equipment 2 to 4 times a week you think on portability, this amp is just the tool I needed for what I do, amazing tone, volume to rock a venue when connected to the right cabinet and EASY to carry, yes great combination even on studio. Don't believe me?..... Try it and become a believer!!!!
thats crazy lol
I have one with the little cab and it's really incredible sounding with both a Strat and a Gibson. I think the speaker with its paper grill is partly responsible for the tone so I would worry about swapping in just anything. An Orange 12 would be ideal but now we're talking $380 and a lot of weight. You can double up the little cabs, which would be lighter and cheaper and maybe enough for a small gig?
Jonathan Farias Using it with a jensen special 8 inch. Killer..
+Jonathan Farias So, just to make sure if i want it, this amp is loud and good quality sound enough for gigs and jams, not just because is small and affordable.
+Enzo Sisneros Hey Enzo, when I plug the amp to the small cabinet speaker designed for the micro terror I use it for monitoring, but if you plug it to a 4 x 12 cabinet is very loud, it rocks and its very convenient. I recommend it.
I just bought one of these because of you guys. Lee's expressions while Chappers is playing are just priceless! Keep up the great work guys.
Yeah I ordered one from andertons and it's coming today. I've owned one before and they are fantastic. Plus I'm getting cab this time. Just a great simple, small, but amazing sounding head, especially if you've got some great effects to run into the front. Really cool. Thanks Captain and Chappers.
these little guys have become my favorite guitar amps. The fact that it needs a decent cab to really hear what it can do speaks volumes. That 8" is like trying to wring out a Ferrari with bicycle tires on it.
It sounds pretty good with the 8". The main problem with small speakers is the bass, but some famous recordings have been made using 6" speakers in the studio. E.g Derek and the Dominoes Layla. There's not a lot of bass in most lead guitar. An 8" should have no trouble with the low E string at moderate volume. Brown tone, no way!
Love your analogy. Ferrari with bicycle tires!! LOLOL
except an auto with bike tires wont work. an amp through an 8" speaker will work.
Everything is better through 4/12’s!
I’m buying one that comes with 2 1x8s. HOPEFULLY the extra cab makes it sound better... but I’ll be building a powered 4x12
Well, I see it's been a year since this review. Let me tell you, it's been a productive year for me! Not only has this video review made me go out and buy the Orange Micro Terror but I also persuaded my local music shop to start carrying Orange products! Most recently I received the matching cab for my micro as a gift and love it to pieces!!!
Your evil plan has succeeded!
Love its hybrid sound...you can hear the right connection between valves and transistors. Awesome!
Yes… clean tones!!
Every video so far is just the gain tone..
Thanks.. I’m now sold..
Im a huge fan of these micro amps. Really lets you have fun with amps you always wanted in a way. Who needs 10 massive cabs in their house taking up room. At a certain point its just kinda stupid looking. These little amps are perfect if you wanna pour some coffee and sit back in the lazyboy with your axe and switch a head up to a different one of 10 you can actually afford on the table right next to you .
I used this head for over a year with my Blackstar 2x12 cab in my hair metal tribute on dozens of gigs. We played 1200 seater venues and opened for LA Guns, Dokken and Winger using this head. If you have some hot pickups you can really get a cool tone and just enough gain for metal. I now use a Splawn head and use this as my back up. I still use the Orance Micro on smaller gigs.
Are... Are you me? I play hair metal and have opened for those guys and play a Quick Rod... But good to see someone else in our realm has played one of these, you never get to hear these attempt Poison, it's either super chug or lesser gain rock
Absolutely love love the Orange products. My PPC412 cabinet rocks. Now I want this baby for the road.
Just got mine last week and currently am running it through my Kustom KG412 4x12. Holy crap, this thing is great. I'll probably use it for small gigs that don't require a lot of juice. I think I'll definitely get the tiny terror next as my main head. I freaking love orange!
Over 500,000 views! This is the one that started my fandom. Had to go back and say thanks! Cheers!
Got a used one and am using a home made cabinet with a 12" Peavey speaker ($15 on Craig's list). Total cost $112. Best guitar sound I have ever had.
Just picked one up... this thing sounds sweet. I love the cleans on this and how it breaks up for that nice warm blues tone. It can do hard rock very easy but your not going to get a metallica tone from it out of the box. Highly recommended.
Course not it doesnt include a crybaby.
This amp head is insane! Its smaller than my band mate's fender guitar lunch box and packs such a punch. I have it running through a 4x12 Bugera cab and it can compete in a four piece rock band. Best bang for the buck. I dont even run it at half volume and it screams. The tone is amazing too, very warm and full. Buy one if you dont have one.
This amp has some balls in it! Oh there they are, covering the Marshall logo XD
Ikr. If you didnt see it you would think it was a 100 watt orange. Not this little thing! Good job orange.
"Look how amazingly small it is!!"
that's what she said :(

the best demo i've seen about this amp so far
This amp slays! Just got one and it blew the band away! Perfect volume for rehersal through a 1x12.
The first Jimi Hendrix Experience album was in standard tuning. It was on the next albums he started down tuning. Purple Haze is in standard.
hey Rob great demo man...liked the fact that you guys used a strat and a les paul to demo this...it shows what the amp sounds like with the two most iconic guitars ever! enjoyed this :)
Nice playing! great sound, and you guys are a lot of fun!
i owned it a while, I really liked it. I sold it because a wanted a 2 channel head. but the sound that came out of this little thing was just amazing.
I gigged with it pushing a 4x12 and it was awesome, with the cab Micd I had the volume and gain at halfway and it cut it
I bought one of these because i was really broke and my randall gave out and im really glad i did, it sounds amazing.
THAT STRAT SOUNDS AMAZING!!!
Heck yes! My buddy bought the Micro Terror, and just for giggles, we played it through his 4x12 Mesa Boogie cab, and we shook the windows in his house!!! I couldn't get over how loud this thing was... and the tone was AMAZING.
7:20 Yeahhh !!
Uncle Rob always gives you "Holy Diver" beybeh!

I got one of these, I took the lid and feet off , cut a hole in my Marshall 2x12 cab and mounted it in with brackets. Power supply and cables inside the cab, so I now have a 20 watt OrangShall combo amp. I run that off the right output of my Zoom G5, left output goes to a Jet City 2212. Rocks.
I'm seriously tempted to get one of these to travel with, your demo is so much better than Orange own, they make it sound like a broken 70s car radio! Cheers guys!
OMG all the tunes coming out in this video, your playing A! that's awesome x
@JCWakes I doubt it - it's not that loud.
I’ve just bought this exact combo and it doesn’t sound like this. It sounds very tinny ear piercing beyond quarter volume and for some reason and is too loud for a bedroom.
With the 1x8?
I know this is old as hell but I have had my micro terror for a good 2 years now and I think it sounds best through a 12".
2x12 sounds great
I'm very impressed! Sounds like a proper Orange amp.
Shout out to the first Anderson’s review I ever watched. And now I have enough money to go amp shopping I’m back reminding myself why I want one of these… I mean. Who wouldn’t!!!!!
I'm glad I just got one..
I always feel reeeeeeeally awkward when lee is just watching Chappers play...
I enjoy Lee's playing more though
Chappers has a lot more skill of course but i really like lee's playing a lot
Clappers is a better player I think, but I like Lees tone better.
cap's chops just keep getting better. rock on fellas !
Thank you for doing a great review (very funny too). Your review sealed the deal for me and I love my new micro terror. Rock on from Chicago, Illinois, USA.
It's small, cheap, looks ridiculous with 4x12 cabinet and is AWESOME!!!!!
@aAdamToRemember No pedals - just straight in to the amp.
Got mine today. Sounded good through a Hiwatt 4X12. But after I've changed the preamp tube to a Tung-Sol 12AX7...my good lord. Even the internal distortion killed the neighbours (and had RICH HARMONICS AS WELL), but with a pedal...this little friend does it all. I've never seen another amp so good in this price category. It drives a 4X12 like a friggin boss. Don't even consider trying it with anything less. Love for first sight. Meant to be a backup until my 50 W all-tube monster-rectifier gets well, and I totally put my trust in it. And much more...
thanks to your vids i now own the pedal train mini and a micro terror effin awesome both of them the terror is sooo loud with pedals awesome gonna use it on a gig tonight :-)
I just picked up this amp because of this video and a couple other ones, I running it through the same cabinet in fact, that marshall 1960 lead, and let me tell you it sounds like CRAAAAP! Just sounds like i'm playing through a paper box... am I missing something? I do not recommend buying this, maybe I got a lemon amp, but it was bran new out of the box, no issues with it. I am just not getting this quality of sound. Possibly because these guys have it mic'd up? I don't know. Def a novelty style amp from what I have here.
I 100% agree. Played it through the a 1960 lead and couldn't find a good sound.
Derek Coble
That sucks. I played it through my 1960A last week, sounded fantastic. It handles pedals very well, too. It can get the sounds in the video exactly, which I find is a GREAT foundation for overdrive pedals and the like. This amp, through a 1960A with an '81 LP Custom (Suhr DA pickups) and a VFE Pale Horse overdrive. Sick tone, comparable to my modded '76 JMP.
maybe it's because they are using a 300w box.
with the 120w sounds great
emaa gnzalz
What do you mean?
I'm pretty sure I'v seen pedals bigger than that.
Amazing Guys! Love the amp,and everything you guys come up with. You are undoubtedly the most funny, entertaining, and give the the best in depth vids I have ever watched.I look to Anderton's for reviews on guitars and stuff I am going to buy.I am going to buy one of these ,now that you have shown me good things can come in small packages,LOL
Thanks!
Larry C
great demo!
What's with all the oranges?... ... Oh, I get it, sorry :P
Micro terror + bunch of pedals or "amazing" amp + a few pedals? What do you think?
There's no head room from the Orange so drive pedals are a no go. If you meant more modulation style effects then you'll be fine.
Thanks for the info, and the cool little story. I learned the riff from watching this vid, now I can go see if there is any more to this song
ok i so need one of these cause that is one awsome little piece of win
If only it had an fx loop.
+Philip Birkhead Check out the micro dark! They just came out
is it a giggable amp? for small-medium venues? itd be thru a 2x12. would it be loud enough?
Yeah it is. If mic-ed anyway. Don't expect much clean headroom though.
cheers. i'm after pure filth if i can get it :p
Bad Mouth Men Might need a pedal or something if you want more gain haha
Dude, the normal terror and tiny terror aren't just practice amps, plenty of people use them for gigs, these aren't just "play at home amps" 20 watts would be enough trust me, go try one out and see. People gig with Blackstar HT-5 (5 watt) because it's so loud, I know the Orange would be like that too! :) Yeah the reason I don't have an orange is because of no reverb, once I get my hands on a reverb pedal I probably will buy some :)
Sqeno I got one of these recently as a practice amp (with Orange's 1x8 cab) and it's great for that. A lot of people say that with a 4x12 it's 'gigable', but it seems a bit impractical to lug a huge cab and a tiny head (which is gonna look ridiculous!) when a small all-valve 15/20 combo like a Vox AC15/Blues Junior/Blackstar 20 is gonna be as 'big' and have surely better tones (especially clean). Only cost would be a factor perhaps. This head is cheap and a used 4x12 cab too I suppose. Otherwise it seems a bit pointless.
I've tried it out & let me say, it's truly an amazing amplifier! it gets loud! The tone of it is perfect!
That intro made me die of laughter. You are now communicating with my ghost. Good one, fellas.
can somebody please tell me whats the name of the song at 13:09 ?
+SON OF SATAN Nothing by "A"
Ha ha no mate... I can remember sucking harder than most when I was a kid, but then I sweat blood practicing until my hands had been forged in the fore of my will.
Now I win for a living.
When you play that good anything sounds great
I bought one based on this review. So much rock from a pedal-sized amp! Amazing! Running through a closed-back Blackstar 1x12 - super throaty with an LP with all three knobs at noon.
re: start - i thought he was straining on the toilet.
Could this play over a drum set?
I own a tiny terror and it does a decent job of cutting through the mix.
You are everywhere, aren't you?
Pale Horse of the Apocalypse Haha once again, great minds think alike. Also were both guitar nerds
LLCurrio True.
yes
This head is amazing! 🖤
Getting this little fun beast for light home use and portability!
me nem is chupacabra.. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Fucking bastard
Damn this fvcking thing sounds fantastic. Why not buy one just to mess around with, or hell to record with. Very authentic sounding, just like an Orange should sound.
What a cute amp and head!
awesome amp and awesome guitar playing
Anyone know how this handles pedals ?
Awesome!You can trust me.
alright thanks !
could this jam with a drummer?
I'd say it depends on a couple of things. First, the speakers you're playing it through make a really big difference. I play mine through a 2 x 12 cabinet and it's plenty loud. I'm not sure that little 8" cabinet would do you much good in that regard. Second, it depends on the drummer. If you play with one of those guys who uses the small baseball bats for sticks, it might have some trouble keeping up.
I use it as a backup for my main amp. There's no sense in not bring it along. It's miniature, it weighs nothing and it works great.
frozencons wow! thanks for the detailed response, can a 1x12 be enough to play with a normal playing drummer?
Certainly :)
Rob and Capt Lee did a video with Rob using this amp through a blackstar 1x12 in a jam/rehersal setting. Rob also used this as his back up a few years ago. So I would say so.
+joseph beard i watched that but i don't know if it could keep up on the cleans too.
You guys have the best microphone setup going
Great video, the oranges around the amp makes this an epic victory!!!
Merry Christmas Englandishire!
Sounds like hard work to get the sound out.
Moreno A. Hassem Plugging it in and turning it on isn't hard, mate. It's one of the simplest amps you can buy.
FinderofNemo What I meant is that they need to put a lot of work into their playing to make it sound good. To me, a good amplifier must be effortless to use, which means my playing shouldn't need extra effort in picking or fingering to get a nice sound out of it.
Moreno A. Hassem I feel that way too.
Andrew Forster A good guitar, plus good playing, a good cable plugged unto a good amp. You can't go wrong. Keep it simple.. Ya know. But that micro would be great in the home studio.
+Moreno A. Hassem (MHA100) Dude what? Effort to get the right sound? Of course you have to put effort in and you need good technique and playing, because that guitar that you plug in to the amp is, funnily enough, played by you.
so, very beatiful amp: small, nice quality, tube sound...cheap
Going to get one right now! Good demos and laughs!!! If I'm ever in the UK I'm going to check out Anderton's!
That intro was brilliant :)
Yeah, if you could play a clean tone (for more than 2 minutes) that would be great
Just watch other videos then...
juancalunaes Given that it's a 20 watt amplifier, it isn't going to give you a crisp clean sound. It will have a little dirt, also Orange isn't really known for their clean sound. If you want a clean amplifier, buy a Fender.
Would be good to get someone else to demo gear so it's not just the same heavy rock/shreddy stuff. We're not all into that sound.
That's kind of what that amp is all about. It's very rocky despite the clean capacity.
Then go to another CZcams channel friend.
+Greyson Petrenko I think I will. I'm not sure how I feel about Rob Chapman.
+Rwecosher well good on you friend. Come back and tell me what you find. Good hunting.
they aren't doing just metally stuff...there's blues, some countryish bluegrass stuff in the demo as well.
awesome, cheers for the info, think i might be going for the 40+! thanks again
that was amazing. need it to arrive overseas soon!
That Micro Terror is impressive, but what I really want is one of those Marshall 4x12 cabs. Ooo, yeahhhhh, feel the black wind! :)
Thanks! Sounds perfect for practicing with my 2x12 8ohm cab.Cheers.
Wow, sounds great! Thanks :)
Well, I know what I want for Christmas this year!
what I really love about orange - besides the awesome tone - is that especially there lunchbox-style amps are really simple. All these amps with the 20.000 knobs make you very focussed on getting the perfect tone. But these things sound amazing on almost every setting and they actually make you focus more on the playing. I love them! Especially my dark terror!
Just bought mine from Andertons yesterday. So excited!
Awesome little box sized as big as 2 real oranges contains massive amount of tone wizardry which makes my mind explode, hell yeah !!! Ths amp rocks ;)
cool amp idea! I'm sure beginners, low-budget guitarists, and apartment guitarists will especially appreciate them. it definitely shines with a 4x12....but if it handled lower frequencies better I'd be sold! keep posting demos like these, they're heaps of fun to watch! cheers
LOVE the oranges taped over the Marshall logo ha ha ha
this little amp pushes a 4x12 cabinet with ease its kind of hard to dial in but you can do it. its a great amp for the price. you can gig with it easily. hats off to orange. I do love my Orange Th30 dearly.
Clayton Ray Does it cover a drum kit fine? I mean its 20 watts solid state. Does it cover a live gig?
it does both fine bud, its only part solid state. it has a tube pre amp and like I said it will push a 4x12 cab, a lot of people use these live especially if you mic them up. I gigged mine for 4 shows and ended up getting a really good deal on a Orange TH30 so the micro terror got put back as a practice amp. I would not however buy the micro terror extension cab with it cause that 8" speaker sounds super cheap id go with a high end 10" or some sort of eminence or celestion 12". I took the cab straight back and got my money and bought a marshall vs 212 cab and ran it with that. sounded fantastic! hope this was helpful
These amps are brilliant. I traded my Vox Vt80 in for it. And am amazed how much better my tone is with a Micro Terror. Much love to Orange.
That sounds great on that Marshall Amp! That's what the Little Micro Terror can do! That's pretty intense!
