    This was fun! I like how Dr. Mayfield kept saying, "I will probably get one wrong." It helps to show that, even as doctors, people can still get things wrong. I also appreciated that you said that dermatologists may not get it right the first time.

    You guys should show more patients with resulting damage/cancer caused from too much unprotected sun exposure. I have too many friends & relatives who refuse to wear sunscreen or properly protect themselves from the sun!

      Yeah I hear ya. My mom still absolutely refuses to wear sunscreen at all, ever. But she not only does not wear sunscreen, but she actively tans her skin on purpose. She is very much a sun worshiper....I have preached and preached at her about it, but she will not listen. 🙄😒

      I'm a cancer genetic counselor and sooo many people don't wear sunscreen and end up with a lot of cancer. People hear skin cancer and think, oh I just have to get a mole removed. But melanoma is very scary, and if not caught early it can spread through the body and kill you. Wear your sunscreen!

    • @adel19997
      @adel19997 Před rokem

      I don't agree. No sunscreen doesn't equal skin damage or cancer.
      People should be concern about internal body cancer than external. Which product is responsible for cancer in our bodies?

    You make a great point that skin problems can be a symtom of something else. As a Crohn’s patient since my teens with mild bowel symtoms but severe systemic manifestations and quite a few of them that affects the skin and mucous membranes (and treatments that affects the skin, hair and nails!) I’ve learned the hard way that you need to be educated and observant. There really should be more of interdisciplinary teams working with patients with systemic diseases. I have a rheumathologist for the joints and a gastroenterologist for the bowel, but I’m referred to a general practitioner for the skin. Yes, I have been sent home with a bottle of astringents for erythema nodusum and I’ve never had any help for the rosacea. 🤷‍♀️

I’ve used the topicals that my derm gave me for rosacea, but nothing ever happened. I got better results with Benadryl. I just don’t know how to word it with him that I think I’m having a constant low grade allergic reaction to everything…lol. The best I’ve ever felt was the 4 months I was on prednisone. (Strep G).
