Once you learn the skunking "off flavor," you can never not notice it again.
No need to "learn" about skunking unless you don't have a nose
I believe people get confused about this. Some yeast strains smell skunk… like freshly cut garlic grass. Heineken, Becks and more. I have some 3 year old beer right now left over from a 4th of July party. I pop one last week no skunk just bland less fresh flavor. I do believe the more watery canned beer is the easier it can take on a metallic flavor. It gets over 100 degrees in the southeast.. I believe this really hurts beer waiting to be sold.
The trouble is, so many people use 'skunked' as a general coverall for a range of beet faults.
I've seen many people confuse lightstruck and oxidised characters, as they can often go hand in hand.
I wonder if the Corona just “owns” the skunk factor as a part of their flavour profile in their bottles. Everyone has almost grown to expect the skunk note from Corona.
Do you actually know why corona smells and taste like skunk ?
That hop cone lamp shade is so cool
Watching your reaction to the bottled version is priceless. Love these comparisons. Wish I could get your beer in NorCal. Cheers!
skunk is part of the corona flavour profile though
Love these comparisons!
You should do a comparison of a Trumer Pils from enclosed 12 pk and one from an open top sixpack. The difference in skunkiness is ridiculous.
A Black Bay Pro and now a fluted Datejust... let's have a video on what's in the watch box! Dig it.
⏱️👀
I could see Nate being a Nomos fan.
@@elfeeyoo7172Funny you say that, though I'm not Nate... more than half of my collection is Nomos, and I am a fan of Tree House. As a brewer I could imagine water resistance would be a priority, so I can see the appeal of sport watches, though Nomos has a few.
i own an ahoi 😎
@@treehousebrewco Tree House Watch Club? Friday afternoon meetups, fresh beer, good people, cool watches... I'm in!! Dooooo itttt ☺
I’m loving these videos. I feel like it’s common knowledge these things but actually putting them to the test is so interesting. I’m quite excited for the Can vs brown bottle as Idk if it’s a placebo type effect but I do swear that older canned beer does have a distinct metallic note to it.
this one is generally accepted as objectively true (the bottle is worse than the can), but I am finding that the blind tastings are blowing the idea up about what you ‘should’ enjoy and what is commonly accepted as ‘best’
@@treehousebrewco well keep up the great work challenging perceptions and “norm’s” I imagine that same quality has greatly influenced Treehouse Brewing’s success and my love for it.
I actually love the skunk flavor….. it’s my favorite thing about Corona
Corona with a lime and a splash of tequila is one of my favorite things ever.
Dope video
Is the skunk (DMS) or the hops used? Thanks guys love the channel.
Hop oxidation
I might be alone on this but with Corona I prefer bottle over the can because I love the skunk funk lol
I bought one at 7-11 awhile back and noticed the hop flavor was different from being in a can. corona familiar taste like sapporo reserve to me though.
Evening Nate.
I’ve always told people corona in a bottle smelled like bong water
How much uv exposure (how quickly) causes a beer to get skunked?
shockingly little UV exposure is all it takes. drinking a beer in a glass in direct sunlight will do it in seconds
How about that?!? 🤯
That is why I prefer Pacifico.
I run a bar, and in your opinion, do you think bars should serve beers in cans exclusively then, aside from draft also? do you think bottled beer in general is better? I think another video similar would be interesting to see, perhaps on a macrobrewed scale, maybe miller lite in bottle vs can, dos equis bottle vs can, Heineken bottle vs can, and other beers such as kirin, to see how it is across the board maybe? thanks and love the videos!
I think bar should carry both. Though technically the beer is better in a can sometimes than drinking experience can be better out of a bottle.
Crazy to me that both Corona & Landshark's primary marketing is towards the beach atmosphere. I wonder if the taste after UV exposure is their goal??
i think so actually
Is El Mago attenuated to drink straight from the bottle? I prefer it that way.
not sure what you mean? they are attenuated equally
Google AI failed again by posting its COVID-19 banner. In this case Corona is a beer, not a disease.
Lawsuit
I mean, I think we all knew. But, damn that was fast!!
Looking forward to the folks who show up to proclaim their love of skunkiness!
Soooo, was this a tasting or a smelling?
Would love a reaction on an amber bottle! :)
Oddly enough, I prefer a bottle of Corona
And yet I STILL prefer the bottle.
How was the bottle purchased? Would be interesting to see if a bottle from a 12 pack (enclosed in cardboard packaging) can maintain quality.
it was in cardboard
Lol, that was fast.
Not all clear bottles result in lightstruck beer.
Funny!
I have never purchased beer in clear glass bottles and only purchase beer in metal cans when I want to taste a brand that I have never had before and it is not available in dark glass bottles. And much the same for soft drinks.
great video but you can hear the difference when pouring haha
guys how easy is it to get a like from nate himself
1st. What do i win??
We all knew.
for sure, but it was fun to try it and understand just how big the chasm is.
Of course, it was still entertaining to watch! Haha
Is this treehouse or corona company?
It's Tree House
But Corona taste better in a bottle, corona from a can taste so awful
Corona is the only beer that having only one gives me a headache, must be something in it but it has happened many times I've tried, but overall I can't stand the beer, it's just not good.
Same thing happened to my dad with the US macro-brew lagers, several of them. He'd have half of one and get a headache and feel awful. But he was able to drink beer from the EU or UK without issue, not that he ever drank much beer anyway. Must just be something in it, like you say.
If its going in a glass I would rather have it in a can, but who the fuck drinks carona in a glass. Gimme a bottle and a lime
Why are you reviewing trash beers?
this is a comparison, not a review
What's wrong with a bit of education?
And beet tastes, like so many other things, are subjective.
