No doubt Ukraine is one of the best countries in Eurovision (IMO) and it has provided us with the most talented eurodivas among all the countries.

Totally agree. They never fail to deliver something special and of good quality (and with some exceptions also always match my taste 😅). They deserved their wins and I hope they’ll continue strong. Congratulations Ukraine. Best wishes from Germany 💖

@@user-nw4nm7cg9r давайте не заниматься самолюбованием, и давайте всё таки признаем, что даже если Швеция и менее разнообразна, но в качестве продакшна поп песен Швеции нет равных, и она также является одной из лучших стран на Евровидении

Aside from Italy and Sweden, Ukraine is the most serious country when it comes to Eurovision. Vidbir is also filled with drama every year.
The sand artist in the 2011 entry was the winner of Ukraine's got talent and appeared on the Champions version of America's got talent

If I'm remembering correctly, Maruv was still signed with a Russian record company (or something along those lines) and was being wishy washy about her stance on Crimea being apart of Ukraine and she ended up pulling out (I feel like a Ukrainian may be able to explain it better than me lol). That song probably would've made top 5 tho
Ukraine is easily one of my fave countries tho. Even their weakest years (2003 and 2017) weren't even that bad and they have RANGE and bangers. Also it's impressive that they've been in the contest for nearly 20 years and are the only non big 5 country that has never had the infamous "failed to qualify"
Deffo check out the countries that left years ago if you haven't already (ie Hungary, Luxembourg, Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, etc)
Her stance on Crimea was that it's part of Ukraine, so that wasn't the point I think. It was more like her entering Crimea through Russian ground and that's forbidden by Ukrainian law. It's the same thing that happened with Alina Pash. I don't know if she was signed to a Russian record company but I doubt that was the big deal
@@sannev8407 Actually I think it was that she refused to cancel her tour in Russia, as she was set some pretty strict requirements in her contract with the broadcaster if she wanted to represent. She would've had to cancel all her Russian tour dates and finance the whole thing herself.
@@shroomyesc I also remember reading that there was a clause in the contract that issued a massive fine is she ever improved on stage, like to the tune of half a million dollars if she deviated slightly from the preplanned staging during the promotions to the contest. The whole contract was draconic and she spilled every detail when she announced her withdrawal. Since the terms were exposed, the runners up and everyone else from the selection contest refused to fill in the vacancy.
I think they wanted her to give up her Russian passport too, she had one for Ukraine and Russia to make touring easier because of the boarder situation.
That bi*ch is still silent about the war and still is working with russians. Withdraw was a right desigion.
@@sannev8407 Alina Pash. Before contest was in russia with T-shirt love russia. Even before big war, we were enemies beacuse russia occupied our Crimea.
2004 with Ruslana and 2008 with Ani Lorak are my top 2 favorite Eurovision songs of ALL TIMES. Well done ladies!

Велика подяка за добрий огляд українського Євробачення. Україна перемагала в конкурсі коли виконавці поєднували національні мотиви з доброю постановкою і сучасним стилям. Співочу майстерність українців світ признав як і красу наших жінок, самобутність нашої кухні, а тепер і безстрашність нашого народу в боротьбі за свободу. Дякуємо, що ми не самі.

I’d expect more of a reaction in your videos which I’m pretty much sure you can do at a good level. Something like ‘she can hold the note’ doesn’t really highlight anything. Anyway, thank you for this review and your kind words about Ukraine 🙌

3 first places: 2004 ( the second participation), 2016, and 2022; 2 second places (2007 & 2008), 3rd, 4th 5th, 6th, 7th, 10th. Ukraine did not participate for 2 years (2015 & 2019). The editing in the compilation video is horrible: it cuts off the best parts and the final climax notes in most songs, which is especially dumb for Jamala and Alyosha.
