- In this video I have altered the technique of making my faux metal flowers so that they are more suitable for outside decor. The rose I made in this video is about 14" in diameter. Since these are not made from heavy duty metal, I would recommend using them in a more protected place outdoors such as a covered porch or patio.
Here is the link to my first tutorial for two different styles of flowers

Fabulous! My daughter saw some at Big Lot's and they were still quite expensive. I told her I could make them because I watched you do it! She doesn't believe me so I have to make one just to show her. Her famous words are, "Mom, you can't make everything!!!" haha, kids these days. Love your channel and your inspiration, thanks for your scripture passage at the end too. God bless you, June Ellen
That's so funny about your daughter. My girls used to say the same thing but they have learned that if I want to make it, I'm going to figure out a way. That's what I did with these flowers. Thanks so much for watching. Have a blessed day!
Love these flowers you make. These would make a great Mother’s Day gift. Looking forward to your idea. 🌸🌼
Love this metal flower!! So pretty! ❤️💜💚
What a great idea! I love how it turned out and I love that you kept in the part that didn't work for you and you found a solution that did work! Thanks for the great inspiration!
It was interesting to watch this video. You done an Amazing job on petals n flower!!!! Love your flowers!!!! Thanks for sharing
Absolutely gorgeous! I love the rose 🌹! Thank you for sharing your wonderful video 💜🦋💜🦋💜🦋🌹
I'm actually taking the day off on Monday and this is my plan to make two of these flowers for my fatmer's porch. Thanks for doing this tutorial for outdoors!
Absolutely love these. Keep on making them! Thanks for sharing.
Love this idea and thanks for the honesty on what failed and how you fixed it shows not all ideas work the first time around but you had a great idea on how to fix it
That’s wonderful- you’ve really got the old galvanized look
This is gorgeous!!! I just love this flower!! Thank you for sharing this DIY!! 💖💖💖
Once more a fabulous video, thanks Chantel, appreciate your tutorials and your time.
Awesome idea to create a metal looking flower with aluminum pans!! TFS
The rose turned out gorgeous. These flowers you are making are so unique. You did a great job. I can't wait to get the supplies to try my luck at these beautiful flowers.
So beautiful! I absolutely love these. I might have to make one with my girls before they leave to spend the summer with their dad. Thanks for sharing!
Very clever, I will be giving this a try. Thanks for sharing. I will be looking forward to your next video until then please take care and God bless!
Very beautiful and your so creative! tfs and God Bless 💞
So excited to make this one!!!! Really great tutorial!!!🌹❤🌹❤🌹
It turned out beautiful! I like that you showed the paint not bonding with the plastic. It shows people who get frustrated with crafts, that everyone runs into problems when creating, but you don't give up!
Thank you so much! Things don't always turn out the way you planned but hopefully by me showing my difficulties it will make it easier for someone else.
Cute! Thanks for showing the fail and how you fixed it.
Thanks for sharing and showing the fix of the problem!
Very creative! Great tutorial, beautiful result. Thank you! ~ Lisa
Hi Chantel! Wonderful, such talent... Love this!
Beautiful TFS , love it 🤗
There’s no such thing as a mistake in crafting...only happy accidents! In the end, it only causes us to be more creative! I’m liking this flower. It is reminiscent of the metal crafting from the 70’s. Only then, people were recycling metal soft drink cans, and they didn’t paint them, they just took advantage of the colors that they were. Here’s a piece of history, when the soft drink industry came out with cans, the ecology folks didn’t like them. They wanted their glass bottles back...kind of like it is now with people that don’t like plastics. Interesting, huh? I think you did a beautiful job and an awesome ‘save’! 😊👍🏻🌸
Thanks for the interesting history Sharon. It is funny the cycles that crafting goes through. It's just like everything else, I guess...What goes around, comes around. Thanks for watching!
Love it.....they look awesome, I will make me some too. This is a really great idea.
Beautiful!
beautiful out come .. lovely looks high end
Dear Chantel, this is who beautiful project! I plan to make some for my garden deck area. Thank you for sharing this wonderful inspiration. ?sending you much love and blessings 🌹🙏🌹

Thank you so much!!
Gorgeous!!! TYFS
Love the flower. Made two for my fence. Changed them a little. Thanks for the inspiration.
That's awesome! That's what I love about diys - you can make them your own. Thanks so much for watching!
I watched the first video you posted with the original flowers and was inspired to use foil cake pans to make wall planters! I never would have thought to use foil pans to do crafts with and now i just love the idea. No one can tell my platers are foil 😂😂 i want to give this flower a try for the front of my house. They are just so beautiful!
That's great Jennifer. Yes, I can think of a lot of applications for this technique. So many ideas, so little time!!!
I just love these. I'm currently decorating my back screened in porch and I think I'm going to make a couple of these to hang out there. I'll be attaching them to the vinyl siding, so the weight of anything I hang has to be considered. I think these will work great using Command Strips of hooks. Thank you for sharing this technique! Love it.
They would be great for that because they are very light weight. Thanks for your comments and for watching my channel.
Thank you so much for telling me about this video. I learned a lot, you explain things very well.
You're very welcome! I'm glad it was helpful!
Love this approach!!! Your tutorials for this and the other two flowers are terrific, so easy to follow. Thanks so much ~ you have really inspired me. :-)
Love it 💓!
I have wanted to buy some flowers like this for a long time. But couldn't bring myself to spend so much on them. I made the first 2 flowers. They are so beautiful! I get tons of compliments on them. People think I spent a lot of money on them! I am now making the 3rd one, the rose. They will all be hanging in my living room. They are perfect for my decor and I love them! thank you so much!
That is so great! I'm glad that you are enjoying them. Thanks for watching!
Very Very Lovely!!!tyfs👍

You are so welcome! I bet the pink flower on a stick was very cute!! Have a blessed week and thanks for watching Gloria!

Love this! Going to many a few along with a dahlia type for our soon to be daughter's nursery!
That will be great! Thanks so much for watching!
This is very nice
Awesome😊
Very nice.👍
great job !!!!!!
Love it. I have to try this out. I also bought a set of cookie sheets from Family Dollar to paint and cut to make galvanized decor pieces. It also comes 2 in a pack and has a smooth surface, without the raised dots which I like since it gives more of an authentic galvanized look.
That is good to know, because I have been wanting some with a smooth surface. Thanks for your comments and for watching!
boy, are you creative -- new subbie !!! Thanks so much for sharing !!!!
Thanks for watching and subscribing Patricia! Welcome to the family!
Very nice; thank you.
I love it.Thank you for sharing.I'm going to have fun doing this one.God Bless You.MeMe

Hello Chantel hope you are doing well. Super super cute tin flowers love 🌹. Thank you for your inspiration I going to try and make a few sunflowers. Big Tx hugs from South Tx.
Thanks Maria. I'm glad you are going to give it a try!
Even better than the first flowers
Hi Chantel, how are you? Yes I was impressed with the metal flowers. They’re so unique and different. Actually the petals do require a few steps, but in the end you have a beautiful faux metal flower which the outdoor decor, you’ll see metal or galvanized items. You really applied yourself to this diy. Thank you . It’s really unique and attractive.👍🌹♥️
Thanks Rosemary! It was a little more of an in depth diy, but I definitely think the finished product was worth it! Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel and i just loved your video so i decided to subscribe
Welcome!! Thanks so much for subscribing!
I had my 9 year old grandson over the holiday weekend and he wanted to do some crafting. He chose to make the faux rose. He is so proud to gift this to his Mom for Christmas 😊💙 I was going to share pictures but I couldn't find your FB page
That is so awesome! His mom is going to love it! My FB page is just called Lovin' Life's Journey. I would love to see pics!

love your channel and your so intertaining and lovely. beautiful eyes you have. LOL i live in florida and love your diys
Thank you so much Denise!
OMG! The glue gun stand is so clever!!!
Fantastic! I want to make a few large metal flowers (maybe a bit smaller than yours) and attach them to a pole or dial rod for a large tall blue vase I have on my partially covered front porch. I would love to spray them all white for a nice constrast in the blue vase. Thanks for the tips! 😊
Thanks Tosha! Good ideas! The white flowers in a blue vase would be beautiful!!
Hi! ☺ Yes that would be hard to work with. Your solution is a better, safer one!!
Live this idea, I made a similar flowers I got the idea from yr first video and I actually wanted it for outside and I used that same hammered spray paint on a plastic cool whip top and it stuck well just and idea if u make any more for outside
Hi! ☺ I SO much enjoyed your other faux flower video & I am anxious to watch this one! I am THE farthest from being any kind of a "Crafty" person, but, before I watch this video; I was thinking to suggest to you that maybe you could make a faux flower from tin cans (vegetable, fruit or sauce cans)? They may be a little more weather resistant. Back to watch your video. ☺ Have a Beautiful Sunday! Happy Crafting!! Happy Videoing!! ☺☺😎😎
Thanks Abigail. Yes, making them out of tin cans would be more weather resistant. I don't like working with tin snips and having to wear gloves so this was my solution. Thanks so much for your comments and for watching. Have a wonderful day!
Love your flowers! Going to make some for my house. I think the paint would have stuck better to the plastic if you had taken sand paper to it. I think you need to rough the plastic a little and then spray paint it.
Yes, I agree with you about sanding the plastic. Live and learn. :)
I have used that paint on plastic outdoor furniture and it has held up well for 3 years and they are out in all weather. I am thinking it was the chemicals in the e_ 600 that made it fail. These flowers are beautiful. You are VERY creative and talented. Tfs with us.
Yes, I think you are probably right Dianna. I think it is the combination of the glue on the paint. Thanks for your nice comments and for watching!
You should have sanded the lid of the bowl prior to spray painting it. That helps paint better adhere to the plastic. Love your videos! 😊
Yes, I agree with you Mary Kaye. I think it may have had something to do with the glue and paint reacting with each other too. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
I love this I am doing my bedroom with a wisteria feel and I need small to med size center piece in the middle of my window and this would be perfect with my vines and rose garland going around , but to be honest I am not that good at DIY's and plus I have no print is there any other way to trade the rose petals?
Beautiful.yes and hot glue does melt in head of summer and cracks in cold.
Probably should have sanded the plastic lid to make the paint adhere better.
I just found you & did subscribe I love your idea & I want to watch the other videos on your flowers But I do have a ? Since the plastic lid didn’t work when I try to make one do I then use the burner cover instead or do I have to use both lids? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I don’t remember if you said that I don’t have to use the plastic lid at all
Denise, thank you for subscribing and please don't feel bad for asking questions. I may not always explain things clearly so it's good to ask. You do not need to use the plastic lid at all. Just start off with the burner cover (or other metal piece) for the back to glue the petals on to.
Dollar Tree has silicone finger tips in the craft section (to help prevent hot glue burns).
Yes, I have picked some up since I made this video and they are great! I use them all the time. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching!
Wowwy
Does bond to pladtic it is the glue.. I made a 3 tier tray pie tins, pizza tin from DT. Spray painted.. Little milk jars sprayed painted from Dt then glued with E6000 & hot glue.. Worked great..... For awhile. But seperated and finallly bumped, kids dogs, entry way table... Fell reglued. Worked again for awhile.. Finally heard glue and paint. Do not work.. Finally fell apart again since Thanksgiving, so sanded all paint away from edhe of bottles and pie tins etc... Wow what a difference!!!!!!! Hopefully works better for you
Thank you for the wonderful video. How did you hang them?
Thanks Dietra. I just screwed right through the center directly into the wall.
This is so pretty, I don’t think the problem with the plastic lid was the paint though, it was the glue on the paint that is why it didn’t hold, I have made the same mistake. Mine was an epic fail on my project.
Yes, I think you are right Sue. Thanks for your comment and for watching.
Absolutely love this flower also. I know its a bit smaller than the other 2 you did. About how big is this one, 20 inches in diameter?????
It's a little smaller. About 18".
I absolutely love the rose , you forgot to put the measurements for each petal .Could you please share them? I would like to make it . Thank you . Keep up the great work. I love watching you .
Thanks @Sylvia St.Denis. There is a link to a pattern for the petals in the description box that you can download.
@@LovinLifesJourney Thank you
Lovin' Life's Journey w/ Chantel I saved it to my Dropbox but it’s still not giving me the measurements for the petals on all three patterns ...I love these flowers and want to try to recreate them but I have no idea how many inches to do any of the flower petals I need the measurements for all three patterns please....thank you so much for sharing I love all three of the flowers ❤️
Lovin' Life's Journey w/ Chantel all the patterns shows is a drawing of each petal for each flower am hw many to cut out and it says 6 1/2 diameter for the center for the first flower (for example ) but not how many inches for each size petal...I hope I’m making sense😂 am I not doing something right ? 😂 I have all the supplies just waiting on how many inches for each of the petals for all three types of flowers 😭
@@angelphillips3465 I posted pictures of the patterns with measurements on my Community tab for you.
👍👍
Beautiful. How did you hang the rose?
Thanks @Patricia Simpson. I just used screw gun and screwed through the center of the flower right into the wall.
I can’t find the truffle and elephant paint. WhT other colors can I use?
Any medium gray color in place of elephant and any dark rusty brown for the truffle should work.
Thank you! And does the template all fit on one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet?
You're welcome and yes, it does. 🙂
Why did you cut the rim off the third tray before gluing, but not the first or second tray before gluing? How many of each petal to cut out? Or is that information on the patterns? Do we use same triple gluing technique for other petal sizes?
I thought the trays were easier to glue together with the rim still on but I thought it would be difficult to cut through 3 trays. That is why I cut the rim off the third tray before gluing it but you can do it in any order you want really. The pattern does include how many of each petal to cut out and I think I said in the video as well. 8 large, 8 medium and 12 small. Yes, you should cut all the petals out of a triple layer of the baking sheets. Good questions! Thanks for watching.
Lovin' Life's Journey w/ Chantel Thank you for your response. I was unable to find the cookie sheets, so I had to get the foil oblong cake pans. I plan to make this for my mom's front door for Mother's Day. I painted her front door teal last month and this will look great on it!
One question I missed, what color is the hammered spray paint? I have chestnut. Will that work?
How many tin trays in total were used for this flower please.
I used a total of 16 trays for this flower @TINA HORTON
How many baking sheets per flower??
@Kasie Crisman For this flower I used (8) 2 packs of the baking sheets for a total of 16.
Could you message me the pattern for the petals? Can’t find them anywhere. Ty
Elaine, you can get it at www.dropbox.com/s/t1ebpopo98kpz1r/Flower%203%20-%20Rose%20Pattern.PDF?dl=0
I wonder if using spray adhesive on poster board, applying heavy duty aluminum foil, a name brand, then cutting it out. If that would look like metal? The only thing I would wonder about is The Edge where the cut is made the poster board. But paint could cover that. Perhaps doing both sides with foil might prevent that. Has anyone tried something like that?
That might work. I hesitate to use aluminum foil just because even the name brands can tear easily but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.
