- Metal decor is very popular right now, but it can also be very pricey so I wanted to come up with a way to make my own but working with real metal can be a real pain - literally! It's hard to manipulate and easy to cut yourself so I came up with this faux metal technique using aluminum baking sheets from Dollar Tree. I love the finished project and I saved a ton of money doing it myself!

I really love your "faux" metal projects. They are actually real metal projects, just not as heavy as the expensive store purchased ones. I have some metal dowels I think I could use for the bodies. Of course, that might make them too heavy to hang with the frame...?

I use a roller meant to roll seams down. They are made of wood and are great for pressing layers together.

Have you ever looked at the site called Decor Steals? They are selling a bird wall decor item today (made of faux stone) that made me think of your metal painting technique. Why not make them out of "metal", maybe a little less detailed, but I keep seeing things all over where metal painting would definitely pay off.
