This has to be one of my most favorite things on you tube ever made. Have been looking for a metal windmill. Didnt want to pay alot for it at hobby lobby! Now im making my own. Ty
Yay! So fun to make and a great rainy day project! â€ïž
Shopper Girl I found one at hobby lobby for 4.97 but it hangs on Jude string . I could make it a base with the sticks
Sweet Sherry! Yes you could make the sticks to go with it like in dyi! I want one for in the middle of my barnwood sign . It sats HOME. And i want the mill to replace the O in the sign! Great find!!
Thos DYI is still very creative and smart! Love it
Try using dog nail clippers to cut small dowels and skewers. It gives you a clean cut and you wonât have to struggle.
Beautiful!!! Amazing idea.
Smart
Heather Dewiliby I found this idea by accident when I was looking for something to cut a dowel. It didnât splinter it like scissors or a box cutter. It cut it in a round shape perfect. Now I only had a small pair as I had a Fiest (we lost her in November, she was 14). I need to get a pair for a larger dog.
Shelly Lemons I live the idea of using dog nail clippers!! TFS
I have probably 6 sets of dog nail clippers. What a great idea because I was going to donate them!!!
Invest Into tin Snips. They are like $10 on Amazon and are great to cut popsicle sticks and ofcourse metal cans
Katelyn, what a clever design for the windmill. Love how you painted it also. This is definitely one of my favorite crafts. Also big thank you to your mom for coming up with this also. You're so lucky to have her and share your Love đ of crafting together ! Katelyn, you are such a lovely momma, and crafter !!!! đ€â€ïžđ€
Ingenious! I love how you DIYers see things in a different way than we of the "Eyes that see things as they are"..... again...INGENIOUS!!!!! Thank you for being you. : )
You can create anything, you just have to brainstorm alot! đ
I love when creators put a good amount of thought and creativity into their DIYs to keep trying to come up with new fresh ideas! I always try to do this with my DIYS also. Thank you for sharing, itâs perfect! Have a wonderful day đđ€
Yes for sure! Thank you! â€ïž
I agree! When I came across this and realized it's something I can actually do, and it's not the same ole "plate on a candlestick holder" I was so excited!!! Thank you for showing me something new and different! Your instructions are amazing as well and you never lost my attention or wasted my time with a bunch of useless yacking and hand gestures. You are a great, get to the point gal! I can always rewind and rewatch if I need clarification! Thank you a million times!
This is beyond creative!
Great job! Didnât even know I wanted a windmill til I saw your craft. May have to try this.
Yay! â€ïž
Kaitlyn omg I think this is by far my favorite DIY that you've done so far! And props to your mom for her creative thinking! It definitely looks like something you could get at Hobby Lobby or Pottery Barn... And I never would have guessed it was made from Dollar Tree products! I wish we could click the like button more than once lol
Aww thank you for your love and support! đ€đ€đ€
Just when I thought that your DIYâs couldnât get more creative... you make a windmill. Well done Katelyn, youâll easily hit 1 million subscribers by 2020 if you continue to bring us these gems! â€ïž
Aww thank you! đ€
Boom!! Mind blown once again!! Girl you amaze me with what you come up with. I wouldn't have an empty spot on my walls, shelves, cabinets or floors IF I had just a lil fraction of creativity đđ. Once again, AWESOME JOB Katelyn and TYFS your awesomeness with us!! đđ
Haha, I have no empty spots and alot of them can't survive with my 2 year old. Lol â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž Thank you!
This is a very nice project. Thanks for sharing.........I think a disposable baking sheet could also be used for the fan blades. Iâm going to try this. Thanks for the inspiration!
Great idea .
Have u tried this with the disposable baking sheet? I have one on hand. Was thinking of trying this with it
I might try cutting thin pieces of plywood for the blades and covering them with dollar tree disposable foil cookie sheets etc...and then spray them with at least 3 colors paint t create a rustic look....etc.
I wonder if you can cut up a disposable aluminum cake pan for the blades and just paint them so they are not so shiny??
WOW!!! Katelyn, I too am blown away at how you put this together from your mom's idea! Brilliant! The brown gave it that extra touch!!
Thank you! đ€đ€đ€
Wow! Very impressive! Iâm without words as I call all my people in here to watch this lol! Very creative!
Haha, thank you! đ€â€ïžđ
Omg awesomely fantastic! You and your mum have started a windmill making spree!
Haha, I think so! I'm deff gonna make more! đ€

Thank you! â€ïž
Absolutely love the windmill!!!
Wow! You and your Mom make a great team! Will definitely give this a try it is so unique. I walk past those placemats and skewers all the time at Dollar Tree and you have definitely done something with them I never would have imagined! It is so fun to watch your colors and brushstrokes bring things to life! Great job and thanks for sharingâ€ïž
Aww thank you so much Wanda! đ€ Too sweet! â€ïž
Well I just spent at least an hour reading everyoneâs comments and the well deserved kudos to you and your mom for this amazing windmill design. I love the finished project and something many folks would be able to recreate. Wonderful. I also appreciate it is lightweight and not requiring lots of special tools to attach or display. I admire your creative talents and your EASY to understand project process steps. Wishing you much success. Thank you for sharing your time and talents. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
Aww thank you so much! â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž

Boom!! A mind is blown once again!
Y'all are genius! This has to be, by far, one of my favorite diys EVER! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful ideas. đđ
Yay! Thank you! đ€
This is one of the cutest and most original DIYâs I have seen on CZcams. I love it.
Aww thank you! â€ïž
I made this finally!! I cut out the blades from a placemat then from the DT cookiesheet and glued them together and galvanized the cookie sheet ! I wish I could post a photo here, itâs the best thing Iâve ever made- thank you for the idea
Very creative! Looks beautiful. Never would of guessed what it is made from. Looks high end-off the shelf! Great work! Thanks for sharing.
Haha, thank you! đ
I love, love, love it..I have been looking at different windmill diy's and yours is the best one I've seen. And I don't have to have a huge wall space for it.Tfs.God bless
Perfect! đâ€ïžđ€
I absolutely LOVE this! I think to make it more of a âpieceâ on its own you could add a third dowel in the center angled outward, our you could make another front triangle of skewers and connect all four sides with the âcross crossâ pieces, OR you could even mount in onto a DT canvas that you paint like âwhitewashedâ slays or that you wrap with a neutral remnant from hobby lobby or Joannâs! Iâm DEFINITELY making this!
Go for it! My mom made one that stood up after we made these and they looked cute! â€ïž
You outdid yourself with this one, I love the windmill! Please keep doing farmhouse deco, you are by far the best!
Aww thank you! đ

Yes for sure! â€ïž
Incredible job- itâs so stinkin adorable â„ïžâ„ïž Will be making this today and trying to figure out how to make it spin because thatâs the first thing my the children are going to try to do đ·đ§đ»ââïžđ thinking a small styrofoam center to the milk cap and a toothpick connecting it to the top of the stand
I absolutely love it.
Hope it works out! I was nervous my kids would do the same but they haven't noticed it yet! đ
KraftsbyKatelyn Update: my idea totally did not work but I am still so pleased with how it turned out. I ended up using paint sticks from Loweâs for the base and followed the rest of your steps, and I have to say, it looks like the real thing. Thank you again for sharing your incredible talent and this fabulous idea. â„ïžâ„ïžâ„ïž

Good afternoon beautiful lady and family đ€đ€đ€. I absolutely love the windmill. I use soda pop caps for all sorts of things. The best is using them for lil legs on our cable boxes for lil legs. The cap's raise the boxes just enough to keep them cooler. I paint the cap's so they blend in with the boxes. Thank you for sharing honey.
âŁâŁâŁâ€â€â€
