- Star Wars Ahsoka actors Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen gave a panel at Awesome Con 2024 to talk about their experiences, roles, and the Star Wars fandom.
Rosario Dawson portrayed Ahsoka Tano in Ahsoka, The Book of Boba Fett, and the Mandalorian. She is also known for roles in Daredevil, Josie and the Pussycats, Sin City, Clerks II, Clerks III, Shattered Glass, Rent, Men in Black II, The Adventures of Pluto Nash, Grindhouse (Deathproof), and many more.
Hayden Christensen played Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader in Ahsoka and in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and more. He is also known for his roles in Jumper, Shattered Glass, The Last Man, First Kill, Outcast, American Heist, Goosebumps, Factory Girl, and many more.

The fact that they knew each other as teenagers just as Anakin and Ahsoka met each other as teenagers seems to be a connection and a reason it works between the two.

Yeah, and Hayden having a daughter himself probably helped a lot with his chemistry with Arianna, who played young Ahsoka in the clone wars flashback.

Anybody else think Hayden talks more like a fan than an actor? It's kind of awesome how 'soft-spoken' he comes off. Totally approachable as opposed to some actors.
Agreed that is what I believe him and lots of other actors are these days though they are human just like Us so I think of all of them as being human and he is for sure
I was there and my kids and I got our photos taken with Hayden. There were literally thousands of people there getting photos with him and it took HOURS to get through them all. He was super kind and polite and shook each of our hands. I was really impressed at how kind and down-to-earth he was and the stamina he had to get through all those people! I'm very happy to see how well he has been embraced by the SW community now!
I heard it was a 7 hour long wait. That's just crazy.

3:45 in all fairness, Hayden has had a ton of experience with lightsaber scenes and he definitely knows how to play Anakin. Put those 2 things together and it’s no wonder he had such ferocity

so for people who were criticizing her subdued performance , u can see that she is naturally animated.. Filoni wanted her to portray a more mature and controlled version of Ahsoka and thats what she did, she did a great job. just like Hamill in ROTJ, much different from what he did on a new hope. maturity folks.

I don’t remember anyone blaming Rosario for her performance. That’s on Filoni. He’s probably just not fluent in directing actors yet.
@@Film_Quest a lot people complained about her acting but its not her acting that was the issue, she played the part right for the age of the character and where she is in life but the writing was the problem, there were not a lot of words for the characters to say sometimes and so there were these weird pauses, thats a writer issue, not the actors
Hayden looks so incredibly beautiful
I don’t care what anyone says, Hayden Christensen is a really good actor and does a fantastic job playing Anakin. Yeah I cringe a bit with some of the lines in the prequels but that’s not on him. So glad I get to still see him as Anakin especially in Ashoka. Rosario Dawson is amazing also but I never hear anything bad about her anyway. Show Hayden some love and if you aren’t a fan, give him another shot. He really is a good actor.

@@kvothethebloodless3361 ok 😂 what I’m saying is now everyone says he is a good actor (most people not everyone) so you should care about what they say because most fans do agree with you. The problem is he’s not regarded as a good actor by movie critics. It would be good if he started acting again because it’s been a long time since he acted in a project playing a character that’s not Anakin or Vader. Maybe his acting would be appreciated this time if he started acting and he’d be acknowledged as a good actor.

Rosario actually received a lot of hate on social media because she apparently said something transphobic once but idk. Many people refused to watch Ahsoka because of it.

I wanna see Luke and Ahsoka’s first interaction, Hayden and Ray Park lightsaber duel, and Baylan and Shin’s backstories in tales of the jedi.
Pretty sure Luke and Ahsoka already interacts on screen in BOBF
@@CYMKRGBYes, the first interaction we’ve seen on screen, but not the characters’s first interaction in star wars, cause in BOBF Ahsoka mentioned Anakin, and Luke looked at her, knowing who she was talking about, they already knew each other in that scene. So I wanna see the scene where they meet for the very first time, and Ahsoka tells Luke about how she was Anakin’s padawan, and how he was during the clone wars, and Luke tells Ahsoka about how he’s Anakin’s son, and how Anakin’s redemption happened in return of the jedi.

Baylan and Skin deserve more than a short Tales of the jedi story. That could be a separate film. Animated preferably.
Hayden had his lightsaber skills, but please know that they guy who trained them at the time was a man called Nick Gillard, who is still working and has said he'd be interested to come back. Ray Park... Always cool to see him, but he's not an actor. So unless you want to put a mask on him... And they'd have to write a story of light saber wielder who's kinda heavy (which I'm up for).
Personally, I'd like to see Donny Yen's character back in a Tales of the Jedi short. He also made me feel that we should open Star Wars up to some more fighting styles. I mean, it's whole universe. Why should they all have one of the seven forms?
@@djoetmaI know Baylan and Shin deserve more, but they’ll be in Ahsoka season 2, and probably Dave’s movie. Also, I said I wanted Hayden and Ray to duel, not Anakin and Maul.
Funny that Rosario called him heavy-handed. I was so impressed when I saw their scenes in Ahsoka because he didn’t hold back. He really waled on her and she took it like the padawan he trained.
Hayden is amazing. Loved him in the prequels and hated the backlash he got. I wanna see so much more of him in future star wars shows and potentially movies
They crushed it in the show, especially in Episode 5 with their duel and flashback scenes 🤩 such genuinely amazing people 👏🏼

I love how the music at the end distorts and slows down of course for copyright reasons, but also combined with the flashing lights it gives off the impression that some evil dark force is about to present itself.
I was there for this. I was so happy to be there.

Honestly I’m so ecstatic Hayden gets to come back as Anakin and get so much love and I love Ahsoka and Anakin in the clone wars show and seeing them live action is so amazing and I love the love Ahsoka and Anakin and Rosario and Hayden are getting 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
I can picture in my head those scenes where Rosario talked about fighting Hayden. It was so amazingly obivous how he had not missed a step with all those move and lightsaber twirls. Totally loved it.

Bro, I love Ashley eckenstein and she absolutely made the character of ahsoka along with filoni but man, they couldn’t have picked a better actor to play her live action.

I have loved Star Wars for so long and for the universe to be expanded and we get see it with these characters, it is such a thrill and a pleasure.

So glad I was able to shake Hayden's hand.
I always loved Hayden as Anakin, I felt he did a phenomenal job, despite some of the vocal minority in the fanbase being negative. Rosario is absolutely amazing as well, not only as Ahsoka, but pretty much any role she's in.
The newer generation has no hate for hayden because we know the system itself is Palpatine.
Great! I wish the camera would have at least showed the crowd/audience a few times to see exactly how packed it was there, otherwise Great!

They were scheduled for that time, but started 25 minutes late. Rather than do the full 45 minutes, they cut the panel down. Which must have been disappointing for those who paid to attend. After the panel, both actors were set up to sign autographs. Not sure how long they were there, but it must have been a while.
@@FandomSpotliteI was there. Autograph demand was super high, and both agreed to stay longer to make sure fans were able to get them. I think they were delayed for photo ops which also had crazy demand (I had just taken a photo with Rosario before this).
So yeah, bummer they were out late, but they weren’t slacking or anything. Can’t imagine how exhausting the day was for them.
Still an unforgettable experience! Also Rosario sang Seasons of Love before this (modified for the leapyear) so that was cool.

Man, such a shame to hear how terribly unprepared Awesome Con was for these two. A friend of mine was telling me that the coordinators couldn’t manage having both of these lovely stars signing autographs and doing these Q&As. It was so bad that many attendees of the Con spent almost 8 hours standing in line and many of them were turned away without getting to meet them. Of course refunds were given but the time wasted was something that couldn’t be given back.
I can only hope they manage to coordinate things better next time.
turned away? i'm surprised. i didn't have an autograph ticket, but i had a photo ticket for Hayden. when it came time for the time that was stamped on my receipt- they told us to come back in about 30mins because he hadn't eaten all morning making sure he gave everyone autographs and met everyone in his line (he was also doing photos with Rosario and they wanted to get thru all of their fans before their solo photo ops). completely understandable- they should be allowed time to break and eat, which they were. however, it went over the time they said to wait and come back which if that's just the time he took to eat, that's fine. If it was staff being unorganized- they need to get it together a little better. when it came time to get my photo op- they had us broken up into lines. disability, jump the line passses, and then people who didn't have those benefits. disability (the line i was in) still had to wait a couple hours after they lined us up. it's understandable if the celebrities were in the middle of something. but if staff wasn't prepared for the photo op, it could've been handled better.
there's another con i've been to- monster mania. when it's time for the photo op, we go wait in a room with tables for a bit- then go into the line for the photo op. put your objects in a bin that you don't want in the photo, follow the line, say hi and pose- thank the celebs, then go get your items and pick up your print. no waiting and no jump the lines, but it is at a schedule time- the staff is very prompt and good with it though. i think awesomecon could take some notes from it. I'm very surprised that people were turned away from autographs. After this panel though, I remember Hayden and Rosario staying in the room at a table to finish giving autographs to those who missed out earlier in the day. Awesomecon could definitely take some notes from monster mania. regardless, i had a great time at the con and am happy with my experience/photo op
Thanks for this. I didn’t wanna pay extra to attend the panel. I was stuck in Hayden’s line all of Saturday for autograph and photo. The organizers should know better.

I watched the whole thing. Everything was great I’m just a little concerned for Hayden he was great but at the end when he was asked about his legacy I think he got very nervous. I think he wasn’t being very honest. I think he might be a little disappointed about his legacy but he doesn’t wanna seem ungrateful. So he has a inner fight. I think he wishes his career as an actor was more diverse outside Star Wars. Like Rosario’s. But hey. He’s still young. Hopefully we’ll get to see him play new and good roles soon

@Teebss There's a rumor going around that he's chosen to voice Sonic's dark counterpart Shadow in Sonic 3...it's only a rumor at this point, nothing has been confirmed...but if the rumor turns out true, I think it would be really cool.

9:58, Dave Filoni is The True Hero of carrying George Lucas' Star Wars legacy, not only that giving the fans what they want, and wanting it his own
He truly knows the perfect mix between tapping into Lucas’ vision, the fan’s knowledge and hopes, utilizing Legends where he can, and bringing the animation into real life. He knows how Star Wars should be once again, and I’m so excited for him to be such a big part of live action alongside animation!
Dave Filoni is Kathleen Kennedy's buddy. Our only hope is Jon Favreau.

I am happy for Hayden. The amount of crap he originally got for playing Anakin was so unfair. People forget that Ep 1-3 were George's movies, and he was notorious for writing crappy dialogue. Also, trying to ground your space fantasy opera with actual real world politics (borders? tariffs?) wasn't the story die hard fans wanted ...

I'm sure it was a case of Carrie being burnt out by so many fans. Realizing that the person who approached her was a fellow professional and not just a fan makes a difference. Carrie was polite but didn't want to engage when she thought Rosario was a fan.

@@chazo1367 nah my friend ahsoka is a joke in terms of writing. They even fail the simplest stuff like shot composition. Ahsoka is bland and boring, Sabine is annoying, thrawns whole thing is he’s supposed to be intelligent and he’s the dumbest person in the show. The fighting is terrible unless Hayden is on screen. They don’t do the original characters justice at all just like in kenobi. I do agree kenobi is worse but ahsoka is also terrible

@@BananaHammocksI do agree Kenobi is worse and the cinematography in that is awful too. I actually liked the cinematography in Ahsoka though and it stood out to me as much as Andor and was better than the Mandalorian so interesting what you didn’t like about the style in Ahsoka? I thought it was pretty cinematic especially for a tv show. And yeah there’s some weak writing moments in Ahsoka especially some exposition here and bs moments there for sure. It’s obviously no Andor but it’s generally better than Mandalorian for the most part too. Episodes 4 and 5 I think it was I thought were genuinely amazing and great while the rest is average to good with a couple dips here and there but I can’t see how it’s awful tbh or failed the characters. I still think Ahsoka probably should have died in Rebels but it doesn’t disservice anyone or the franchise and legacy like Kenobi and the ST does
That series was awful. She’s not up to scratch. Dave can’t write live action the story was slow the lightsaber fights were slow and Sabine becoming force sensitive is shocking written undoing everything the rebels series did in a few episodes.
However the young ahsoka along with Hayden was class they were genuinely unreal.
However another benefit George Lucas daughter is an amazing writer. Read her book dark disciple. Some of the best Star Wars in years as Disney is slowly killing Star Wars.
