Saw this opening night and can tell you, the score had a big impact. Certain cues, the theater was quiet and you could hear the choir, and the audience was completely into it.
A real masterpiece with heroic notes of Maestro Poledouris. RIP
This is a beautiful well written an composed soundtrack thank you for posting.
gives you the chills listening to this...
Menschlichen Stimmen sind die wichtigsten Instrumente in dieser erregenden Suite. Echt Klasse!
Whenever you have such an amazing and immersive score to support the plot for a great movie, the music itself becomes one of the main characters. Well done!
Such a great score by Basil Poledouris. It's funny how a time period of sociopolitical tension can give rise to such interesting musical styles. Then that style bleeds into a different medium like movie soundtracks. As always, Fred, you do great job picking the right cues when putting together these suites. They always make office work more fun while listening to them.
Great soundtrack 👍
RIP - Basil Poledouris.
Have to admit Fred, having the picture of the composer at the start is such a small thing, but it humanises the piece as well as being a nice little bit of info! Cheers and keep up the good work, always like checking back every few months and seeing the new additions (my favourite is still John Addison's A Bridge too Far).
Hello DomCoates,
thank you very much for the kind words! A Bridge Too Far is indeed such a lovely score. Unfortunately back then mixes ended up containing mistakes or failures in sound, I remember that one well, being not too happy about it, but I am happy to see that some like it.
Thanks again for the feedback!
Fred
I agree that Addison's "A Bridge Too Far" was outstanding. He was in the miltary service during that battle and campaign, too.
@@SoundtrackFred are you the original writer?
Hello Kwozzi,
no, of course not. I am just a guy, who edited this video together and another one about John Adisson's music for "A Bridghe Too Far". :-)
Best to you!
Fred
I am confused. Why would anyone down vote this?
The foiled KGB😛😂
Excellent!!
BRILLANTE !!!!......ARTE PURO........
"Nuclear Scam" alone is a powerful track with its use of the theme/Russian anthem. Moving in a singular way around the 11 minute mark.
Epic music at its absolute best!
Fantastico!!

Thank you for doing this -- it is, indeed, an extraordinary score. Do you know whether there is a libretto for the words and a translation?

👍!
The beginning of this suite sounds like music from "The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming" when we see the submarine. Great compilation. Thanks very much for posting.
Launch Countermeasures
This was written for the film? I always genuinely thought it was a piece of classic Russian orchestra, outstanding, beautiful Russian tones and old soviet atmosphere, you can hear the cold snow, you can hear the stoic endurance of a beautiful people, amazing
I can ruin this tune for you though, if you dont wish to have it so...do not read on...

You have these great soundtracks from Basil Poledouris (is that a Greek name?) on this play list, but you did not include the one from Robocop, interestingly. I can't help but to wonder why you would leave that one out, since the Robocop soundtrack was the reason why I had even heard of Basil Poledouris. Just curious....
Hello Robert,
totally understand you. It is not in the playlist, because it simply hasn't been uploaded, yet. But believe it or not - a video regarding this topic is planned for the next few weeks, as it has been a wish of mine and besides you, others as well for quite some time. ;-)
Best to you!
Fred
yes the name is Poledouris is a Greek American born in Kansas Misouri but his origins are from Messinia which is a perfecture of Peloponnese Greece!!
Now it should be re-filmed with new actors: Borei, Seawolf, and Severodvinsk
and the political officer should not be named Putin, come on..
🐸
This shows how passionate russians are.
I love all Slavic music......best in the world
May I ask whether the songs relate to Soviet Union national anthem ?
As a non-Russian (feel free to correct) person, I think it is a Bolshevist anthem inspired by the revolution that gave the movie it's name and sets the tone of what the film really is about (Sentiments aside about romantic interpretations of how two disparate groups/people can overcome their differences through mutual faith and trust blah blah blah). The two battling ideologies at the height of the cold war.

Grande Rússia.
Wonderful anthem. I'm not Russian but I've studied their history for many decades - today's western media is either totally disengenous or utterly ignorant of this great nation.... and if anyone thinks Russia doesn't know how to fight and tolerate immense suffering then a brief study of Russia in Ww2 will give them pause....WW2 in Europe was won by Russia, not Churchill or Tom Hanks. A truly great nation, that should be far closer to Western Europe if only USA would stop driving a wedge between us, as they've done in Ukraine.
Hahahahahahhaha
Russia's victory in WW2 was largely due to them having a much larger army than the Germans, plus we did provide them a good deal of logistical support. Unfortunately Stalin was a bigger mass murderer than Hitler yet that fact is often ignored. All the same I agree that the US should not be involved in Ukraine, it's not our fight.
Well I suppose if we have to have a needless superpower confrontation with Russia as we are having now, this is the appropriate music for it! BUT it would be far better if we could enjoy this music without the possibility of a worldwide nuclear conflagration! At this point the survival of Ukraine is a given, all we are sponsoring is the issue of how much of the Donetsk region Russia gets to keep. So what? In 200 years no one will care how much of that region (which is composed of a mix of Russians and Ukrainians) is controlled by which side just as no one cares now how much of the once hotly disputed Great Lakes region is controlled by the US or Canada! Duh! Not worth blowing up the whole World over, geniuses!
