  • A Labor of Love. Sr. Tello, a master mariachi suit maker for 30 years describes with enthusiasm and a proud smile the fine elements of mariachi tailoring -- fine silver threads, ornate handmade embroidery and "Charro Sombreros of two and four "Pedradas".
    With delight and dignity, Sr. Tello proclaims that Mariachis and Charros belong to the world now because UNICEF has declared them Humanity's Heritage and cultural icons.
    Sr. Tello, is an immigrant whose labor of love has opened doors and makes him feel as a man of the world.
    Jorge's dedication and pride in his artisan craft has been recognized by Hollywood to create "Charro" apparel for Anthony Quinn and Chevy Chase, and has suited Placido Domingo, Carlos Santana and The Hive from his modest base of operations at Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights -- La Casa del Mariachi.
    Jorge's story is of creativity and perseverance in Boyle Heights, the Ellis Island of the West Coast.
