I absolutely _love_ that Connery made the effort to make sure he was right _before_ ripping into somebody he _perceived_ had wronged him.
As for Lancaster, what magnificent humility it demonstrates that he kept asking, "You saw that?"
People who have said actors are not to bright never listened to Costner. Notice the PERFECT set up at the end... "You saw that?" ... killed it.
Sean Connery was THE MAN! What a Human Being! There will NEVER be another actor like Sean Connery! ONE OF A KIND!

the untouchables even to this day is one of the best written scripts i have ever heard... an absolutely fantastic film.
It is honestly such a huge overrated movie. I really wanted to like it but found it terrible. Hated the cheesy music as well.

Except for all the blatant historical inaccuracies it was a fun movie. De Niro was miscast tho. Capone was in his late 20s early 30s.

I agree with you and always have held him in high esteem, however, because he acts like a normal person in his films rather than an actor playing a role, people think he is being boring or uninteresting, forgetting that this is in fact how most of real life actually is.

No Way Out is an unforgettable movie. I have watched it again and again over the years. One of the few surprise endings that I will never forget. Actually, two surprise endings. I will never forget you Kevin Costner.
Great movie
Burt Lancaster told my father a story about a guy who wanted an autograph from him once. He was eating dinner in a restaurant in LA and some guy comes up to him while hes putting his fork to his mouth and grabbed his hand to stop him from putting the food in his mouth to ask for his autograph. Burt told him to basically F off and the guy left him and went back to his table. When Burt had finished his meal and he was leaving he went over to the guy and told him, "Look I appreciate that you are a fan, but you were very rude". He gave him an autograph and left. He was a classy guy.
His impressions are great i can see Burt Lancaster actually telling those stories

Burt Lancaster in “The Train” could be one of best movies ever made. To expensive to make now, Burt’s talents could not be matched. It’s a crime, it’s never seen. Unbelievable!
I watched that movie some time ago...I liked it - but (since Lancaster's character, Labiche, was French) I would have preferred him to have a French accent...Scofield at least had a slight German accent...with this said, even for any inconvenience of having to read subtitles (for English translation), I feel that (e.g.) German characters speaking in German can contribute to the realism...Lancaster's acting was excellent, but his American/non-French accent was a distraction for me...

Kevin seems to be a very grounded person. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a fraternity event back in 1990 or 1991, man I am getting old. He took the time to mingle with a bunch of "star struck" college kids, and he didn't have to but wanted to. A really nice man.
I wondered if I had gone to the drama club party instead of the ski club party that night at UCF...…. oh well, what would I have done with $80 million Cindy got...…. except help our veterans and our elderly. Dances and Dreams the best. Dances filmed at my late half-aunt and uncle's poor reservation. Six-degrees is a strange venue. Even sitting next to someone in Visalia college class who was in Kevin's class.... Kevin had a good childhood, so he was blessed with that.

"Silverado" was his coming-out party. I think it was Scott Glenn or Kevin Kline who said he was like everyone's kid brother, riding and shooting so naturally it was uncanny. All the old-school wranglers and stuntmen just loved him.
I think this guy is one of the most underrated of Hollywood A listers.

Played golf with him by pure accident. Level headed and a wear of his financial position and ability to have far more then most. He was beyond pleasant and sociable. Played a $1 a hole and in the end he asked if i had time for a burger and a beer. This was a mom and pop 9 hole course in CT. We sat and ate while others sat and took part in the funny jokes being told by everyone. He shook everyone's hand in the end and that was that. Good guy in my book. He spoke with great pride in his family and shared plenty of stories with a smile and a chuckle while doing so.

In 1990 Kevin Costner was offered the lead in a film that needed a big star to get the studio financing, but Costner turned it down because he had been working three years straight and needed a break. Costner's wife, Cindy Silva, read the script and realized its importance and told her husband, "This film has to be made." The film was JFK by Oliver Stone. Thank you, Cindy Silva.
He famously divorced her, btw. After he got famous for a few years.

john smith Kevin Costner and Sean Connery also worked together on Wyatt Earp. Well cast movie but way too long. However, not without intriguing value but it had the misfortune to be released not long after Tombstone, pretty much the same story. Sorry, that was meant to have been Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman also worked together on Wyatt Earp.

Kevin went to my high school. Villa Park High, Villa Park, CA. I think he was class of '74. I was '77 so he was already over at Cal State Fullerton. But my best friend who was class of '75 remembers him as just another skinny kid on campus among so many others. Yeah, he's a good, down to earth sort I think. Time mellows us all out. Go Spartans!

people forget now just how massive a star costner was at one time. very late 80s to 94 ish he was in massive films that all grossed 200 mills plus. untouchables, feild of dreams, dances with wolfs, robin hood, JFK, the body gard were his peak years. great run of films to have been in.

I think films were generally better before the last decade and it hurts noone to learn about things created before they were born.
I’ve always admired Costner. Long list of fine movies. He could’ve retired on Dances with Wolves, alone. But I admire Lancaster even more! Played every type of role, never fell into that typecasting trap. And his diction was perfect! Don’t underestimate good diction; too many actors mumble, an affectation popularized by Brando and James Dean. (Interestingly, Lancaster was also a big opera buff. He wanted to make a movie with the late opera star, Beverly Sills. She said she was too old to appear on film. Lancaster said, “Don’t be ridiculous, we’ll film you through gauze. Sills replied, “You’d have to film me through linoleum before I’d ever make movie!”)

Those scenes with M Lancaster were very affecting. He was a fabulous screen presence. My dad loved that film being a dog man and respecting the free spirited nature of the character. Mr Costner made great Westerns too. In fact he is very good in No way out with Gene Hackman as well.

Mathew was a bad ass police chief with Douglas in Lonely the Brave. And Lancaster in the crimson Pirate is one of my favourites.
not really a bad ass, but acted wonderfully understated. L are the B is Kirk's fav of all he made. Pirate great fun. his circus buddy and life long friend Nick C a crack up in it.
I loved that scene Kevin was describing about Walter , the whip , the wagon wheel and Burt. Kevin was wonderful in " For the Love of the Game " and his darkest role , " Mr. Brooks ".

@@jasonvelisaratos868 at the start of the 9th grade 86 sec, i went out for track and was changed from the 100 to the 880 (???). by the end of the year i ran the 440 in 59 sec. PE and track after school. 80 sit ups in one min, and jumped rope 30 times in 10 sec. by my senior year, 49 seconds for the quarter, and that was after getting the flue over Christmas and losing 20 lbs off my normal 145. check out The Kentuckian. Burt and his buddy Nick Cravatt (who was in many of Burt's movies and never spoke) barnstormed the US with the circus during the 30's. the Crimson Pirate is great fun too with both.
Rip Sir Sean Connery The Untouchables was one of my favorite non James Bond films besides The Hunt For Red October and The Rock and evening Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade

@@jessu.6414 I read somewhere that he did virtually the whole movie with an English accent but it didn't test well so they re-shot his scenes. No idea if it's true or not but it was very strange that that he did his normal accent.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves: I also read that rumour has it that Kevin Costner wanted to use an English accent, but Director Kevin Reynolds didn’t want him to. Supposedly Costner would affect the accent when he was arguing with Reynolds, but not when they were in agreement. Costner claimed that he was initially asked to use an accent, but this was stopped when he did it poorly.

Mr Costner has worked with the greatest and is one of the greatest. He and Rob Duval were amazing. I believe there's yet to be another epic movie, filmed the traditional way (no cgi) from Mr Costner.
To see LANCASTER in ELMER GANTRY..is simply mesmerizing...just BRILLIANT...and soooo deserved the ACADEMY AWARD......l can still see him...running down the platform in the revival tent!!..so exciting

I like Kevin and his conversation shows a lot about how he is like the two stars he's talking about. A down to earth guy. That's why I liked Lancaster and Douglas, too. I have Kirk's life story. I've met people from New York who knew him as a kid selling rags with his dad down NY city streets. He came up from the bottom. What a guy, what a talent. Go see Dick Cavett's interview. You'll be impressed.
Burt Lancaster was one of my favorite actors he was very unique and also very handsome when he was a bit younger !
Burt was an incredible actor, a true legend. From 1947's, The Killers thru Field of Dreams in 1987, he gave us varied, memorable performances. He wasn't afraid to take on off beat roles either, Sweet Smell of Success, The Swimmer, Castle Keep...His last great lead role was in Atlantic City with Susan Sarandon, in 1981. He's an all time favorite of mine too.

@@isrberlinerin4063 Hi. Yes, but Burt was in FOD, as well. Costner was the lead, but I mentioned it, because Burt's wonderful portrayal of Doc, was small, but significant to the narrative. It also demonstrates his continued relavance in important work. I, too have seen all of Burt's films. Seperate Tables is another good one, off the top of my head. Cheers. 😃

Kevin was lucky to work with 2 GREATS : SEAN CONNERY in THE UNTOUCHABLES AND BURT LANCASTER in FIELD OF DREAMS. 😉😃😁😎 BUT I REALLY ENJOYED HIM in DANCES WITH WOLFS, the Indian actors were VERY GOOD. I ESPECIALLY LOVED the ending when the one Indian actor YELLS OUT "YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY FRIEND ". That was HEARTBREAKING FOR ME.😉😃😁😎

Aside of being a fantastic actor, Kevin Costner seems so genuine and sincere. JFK, Dances with Wolves, Untouchables, just to name a few, are some of my favourite movies. I highly recommend Fandango to all the young fans. Once of my favourites as well
Sean was a great man. His obsession with money became a phobia from being taken advantage of in the first few Bond films.
