      Yea i got one: is mycroft able to speak from its own. Via http trigger maybe with dynamic text?

      @@samsemylya Yes! For this demo, I was actually using an HTTP server on the Mark II for the text to speech.

    Nice demo, but the amount of camera movement was dizzying. Maybe put the camera on a tripod and back it up the next time? But again - great demo!

    Hi,
    I'm really rather surprised (and very impressed) that the STT and TTS are both running locally, and off-line given the relatively short pauses in the speech dialogue.
    Was it last year that Mark One off-line needed a serious GPU and CPU?
    What's the spec of the STT and recognition platform please?
    I've been running openHAB and Home Assistant with Mycroft Mk One for some years so see the mixed interaction of both speech and touch screen as ideal for Mk Two.
    If this performance improvement is a RPi4, a 3d printed back panel to upgrade my Mk One from an old RPi looks very worthwhile.
    The camera needs focussing - thingiverse has several "spanners" to 3d print (or use an eraser to get friction).
    Oh, and Mycroft will always have the voice of Alan Pope here in England! 😁

    • @synesthesiam
      @synesthesiam Před 2 lety +4

      STT is from Coqui (latest English TFLite model) with a 3-gram language model train from LibriSpeech. The TTS is a follow-on to my Larynx work. I'm getting a hold of the Alan Pope data to train a voice soon :)

    I wish that there was a voice recognition system in the Irish language. I would definitely have one in my apartment for tasks like that.

    • @synesthesiam
      @synesthesiam Před 2 lety +3

      I only see 3 hours of speech data for Irish on Common Voice. Do you know of any other datasets? I'd be happy to train a model for you with enough data.

      There is a small but dedicated community of Catalan speakers that have fully implemented support for their language on the Mycroft platform. Even among us English-only speakers there are huge ('uge) variations in accents, and people want representation. It's on our roadmap to make those community efforts a lot more accessible.

    •  Před 2 lety

      @@synesthesiam Perhaps you could already create something for Irish using English words that are pronounced like a Irish words. "Seinn" is the Irish word for play, and it is pronounced "shine" as in English. "Shine un raidió" could be set up as a skill meaning "play the radio".

    • @synesthesiam
      @synesthesiam Před 2 lety +1

      @ This could work, but would require manually entering word pronunciations.

    Is this really the final design? I'm sorry, but this looks like it's from the 70s or 80s. If you really want to move away from the original planned tube, why not go with a sharp-edged cube? And please also a black gamecube that is consistent with the black display frame. For 299,- I want a device that looks a bit classier.
