I suggest you to do MIG welding in place of this welding because MIG heats lesser than this. And because of this heat iron get tempered and hard. Tempered teeth could sudden break. This will not happen in case of MIG welding. And second thing do nurling on both pices ,or you can do male female teeth like clutch plates. That would be much better. This is a suggestion take it positively....

It's a CI to MS weld and there are specific welding electrodes for this purpose, which I think they have used. MIG welding in this situation is the costliest option available and doesn't offer any benefit over stick welding.

It’s always recommended to,preheat cast iron before welding so that rate of cooling could be made slower and thus cracking ofmpart can be avoided as cast iron has brittle properties

This isn't a matter of an Enfield being a cruiser. On the contrary, the Harley Davidson along with many early cruiser designs had v-twin engines in part because (as with multicylinder engines in general) one cylinders motion countered the other. I haven't seen many Harleys or Indians swerving along multi-lane interstate highways.

Very ingenious. One suggestion brother. When you weld on cast iron, preheat the rear drum before welding. After the welding is done, allow the fixture to cool down before machining.
This will avoid stress cracking of the weld.

It is good for slow drivers covering distances up to 200 kms but does not seem to be ok for jurk users and long distances uses like Delhi to Goa - Bangaluru etc as cast iron and steel parts are of very different metal characteristics and may not withstand the laden weight.
