New Valve Cover from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/DMEV...
Under the valve cover, you have camshafts and the valvetrain spinning and flinging oil everywhere. A valve cover has to have a gasket to stop some of that oil from leaking out the seam. When you do see oil around your valve cover, you know it’s time to replace it. This video shows you how to install a new valve cover and gasket in your 2007-2017 Ford Expedition.

+12,000 of these backordered right now and counting. But... Hertz will let me rent a 2022 F-150 with a 3.5l Ecoboost, which has the updated valve cover on it, for $90/day. That's cheaper than the part online. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the video, that didn't look too bad of a job. I am 70 and was looking for a mechanic to change the valve cover gaskets on a 5.4L ford. I was told by local garage that labor would be $680.00 if I furnished all the parts. That seems high to me what is your opinion.

Really good video especially for those who need to do vcts. Any idea where the vacuum hose is locate behind the intake and if it’s known issue on an 09? Is it tied into booster line as shown in the video? Thanks for sharing this detailed video.

That bolt holding the oil dipstick bracket is very friendly located, you need to be a gynecologist to fit a socket there and almost imposible to fit a ratchet so, just leave there but to make it easy to pull the cover remove all the bolts from it.

Aside from the different airbox, will this process be the same for a 07 F250 with the 5.4?

I would give that engine bay a nice cleaning before starting the job.

That metal vacuum tube that is attached to the threaded bolt that pops out is impossible to remove. Any pointers on that? I may have to cut the metal away just to be able to detach it. I was able to remove the plastic part attached to the the vacuum booster with some extra effort. I had to watch the video again when I got to that removal b/c it's a total pain. I haven't tried the dipstick bolt yet. I will say this, I had to use my power washer to clean up the area twice before I even considered pulling the spark plugs to replace them. 13 years of dirt and pine needles that accumulate in that area above the spark plugs.

Budget about an hour to get the driver's side valve cover off your first time... It was more difficult than the passenger side. I was able to get the dipstick bolt out, but while putting it back in, I lost it somewhere on the frame... The metal tube / vacuum line was a pain to get off - not easy like in the video. I used a flat-style crow bar to bend that metal holder to pop it off the valve cover bolt. Be sure to have one available in case you have issues. If you're about to do this project, those are the two hardest parts to get off, including pulling the vacuum line from the booster. Once you get everything else loose, the vacuum line you need to move to the middle and the oil dipstick pushed towards the fender. The cover is a little easier to maneuver off than the passenger side. After all said and done, you can re-use your valve cover gasket if you're able to keep it pressed against the engine like mine was (stuck in place). I had pulled mine off the do the inspection of the roller followers / rockers and the cam lobes.
