    If your efforts to get someone to perceive something in themselves is met with a persistent barrier, consider if their system is correct in resisting your efforts.
    Ask how homeostasis is served by not spending resources on new perceptions. That is the beginning, at least, of creating lasting change.

      It really depends on what you conceive your job to be.
      If you conceive your helping them as a semi-random search for potential benefits, with no concern for harm or wasting time/money, then it's fine just to try stuff and move on.
      If you think you have a chance for harming them, or conceive your role as conserving their emotional/financial energy... then it might help to seek insight as to what's driving their behavior.
