I’m guessing the geometry will change a bit. Definitely needs a steeper STA. Could be a tad longer..
For sure. Totally agree about the STA
Im saving up for this bike, hyped!
You won’t regret it. Love my Slash. Which model are you thinking about getting?
There’s a Slash 8 in the Mint green discounted down to 3,806.00 I am going to buy this weekend. Thanks to your video.
Heck yeah. Now is a good time to look for those discounts on 2021+ models that they still have at the shop. I think the mint green was a 2022, right?
Dude! You got the coolest Slash color! Im getting the same in September :)
Thank you! I love the smoke carbon blue. I’ve been slowly upgrading my 9.7 and having fun doing that.
If you are looking get into the shop right now. 9.8 for 46xx in the trek shop. They just do not have my size in stock
Awesome 👍🏻
Dude! This video was amazing and a huge help. I’m looking at a 9.8 XT. Having a difficult decision deciding on frame size. I’m 6 ft and usually ride a Large but I’m curious if a M/L would fit better. Maybe a bit more control? What are your thoughts?
Dig the channel dude. Keep em comin’.
Wishes from Canada 😎🤙🏻
I’m 6’2” and could fit an XL but I went with the L because I like a more playful ride. If I was more into the high speed stable ride than I might go with a larger size.
Not sure if that helps.
Also, I’ve seen saw a 2021 Slash 9.8 XT on sale. And the 2021 is basically the same bike as the newest Slash 🤔
Ok good to know. How would it effect climbing capabilities?
@@lennondanielsband Climbing on a little larger bike could be more comfortable and more stable, but harder to corner on switchbacks and harder to maneuver through technical rock sections.
Do you have the ability to demo any bikes to make sure you get the size you’ll like?
@@JaredHoff Ok that’s good to know as I enjoy the climbing technical stuff as well.
I’m sure I can arrange.
Thanks again eh!
Was able to take a M/L 9.8 XT for a rip last night. Holy shit dude! I’m blown away. Climbed like a beast and was like a rocket ship downhill.
The size was perfect. Way more controllable and never felt crowded.
Thanks again for your input dude👊🏻😎
I predict a high pivot point for the drive train and a wheel mix aka mullet option. There is a market trend from other competing brands.
I’ve definitely seen other brands doing that. Could be an option 👍🏻
8 or 7
@@turbod15 they decided NOT to make a Slash 7 this year. Also didn’t make a 9.7, so my Carbon Blur 2022 Slash 9.7 is now labeled 2023 on the website
i want slash 9.8 gx but cant fins trek bike in xl 29 anywhere. when are 2023 variants being released anyway?
I am really disappointed that they haven’t released a 2023 Slash. They could at least give us a new color and spec option. I think the Fuel EXe stole the sho this year. All the bike brands are focused on the ebike market.
@@JaredHoff Problem is i never cared about ebikes never will. I want a bike not a motorcycle. Really hoping to get a new slash and then im happy atleast for few years.
Any news on the slash release date at all ? Wanting to order a slash but may as well wait for the new one if soon 🥵
I have only heard that they aren’t doing any updates for the Slash this year.
But I’ve seen a couple good deals on 2021-22 Slash models at bike shops. I think this is a great time to find a deal on last years model that the shops need to sell 🤔
Agree,, I am thinking to add 23 to my slash bike.
You won’t regret it! Love my Slash 🤙🏻
Anyone knows if we get a new Rail 5 model this year?
I’m hoping all the Rail models this year will have the same geometry. I was really disappointed that you had to buy a 9.8 Rail to get the best geometry
I put my money on the new Fuel EX e being introduced 12-7 ;-)
For sure! I’ve also heard they may remove the remedy from the lineup 😬
@@JaredHoff yeah, there probably will be some disappointed about that. I have no experience with the remedy myself and in the end decided to go with the Slash. I expect to receive my 9.8 XT in two weeks. Which is much earlier then the initial September/October ETA. Fingers crossed. Good to see you still enjoying yours.
@@mseekles1972 stoked for your 9.8 XT 🤘🏻
There will be updated slash8? If yes when?
I’m working to find out more from my local shop. I’ll post another video about the new bikes as soon as I know more
Or more or less when?
@@WeMakingItIntoTrenches well 7/12 they are going to release a new bike or maybe even multiple new bikes. This is the time of year when they usually release the next years bikes. I don’t think there will be many changes for the Slash, as I said in the video, but maybe some big changes for the Fuel EX. Also could be some cool new colors for the Slash and upgraded components like the new Rockshox suspension
What do you think of the change in the rear shock on the 9.8 model from 2022 to 2023 and the more weight of the bike?
I was interested to see that the stated weight was heavier. As far as the 9.8, I’m kind of over the ridiculously high prices. Suspension is always a worthy upgrade, but flight attendant and airwiz etc. too expensive 🤦🏼♂️
@@JaredHoff The weight difference is probebly from the new rear shock. The let out on the Treak speziall thre shaft shock and went with the standard. I wounder why the make that change?
Looking at this video, it seems they didn't change a single thing about geometry from 2022 to 2023..
Geometry is the same 👍
Trek just posted that same photo with a heading "a new era of e-mountain bike"
So maybe people are right about the lightweight e-bike 🤔 👍🏻
Well, no matter what product. Isn t it always an all new, never seen before, best ever thingy ? ☺️ And after all it s a minimal change on something? I m pretty sure updating from a 2021/2022 makes no big difference but another hole in the wallet. If someone wants to swap his older bike model maybe from another Company is imo the only reason to order a 23ish. Or the Person has Sh!tload of money to spend tho 🤣
Yeah, that’s what I talked about in the video as well when I covered who should get a 2023. I’m definitely not going to be getting rid of my 2022 Slash yet.
I was thinking about getting trek slash 8
That’s definitely the best bag for your buck model. I didn’t notice much difference between the Carbon and Alloy frame, and the carbon models are so dang expensive.
That’s very true
I think if your going to upgrade your brakes on you 9.7 maybe you should try Magura brakes I’ve heard really good things about them and I don’t think they break the bank
@@mtbkris911 I am actually thinking about just upgrading my rear rotor to a 203. I’m pretty happy with these OEM shimano brakes so far
That’s good you should upgrade to 203 it will help with brake performance
After seeing the price tags, I'll stick with my old Roscoe 😁
I hear ya bro!
When they out uk
Not sure, BUT I’m not to keen on the latest model. They didn’t change any geometry. I think now is the good time to look for a deal on a 2021-2022 Slash since it’s basically the same bike.
Best bike i love it
For sure!
@@JaredHoff 😍
Where is the motor?!?
On the Rail for now 👍🏻
The bike coming Tuesday is a fuel ex e bike
That’s what I’ve heard as well. Still excited about it.
the new trek looks like the GT ENDURO BIKE
Love my 2022 Slash! I’m pretty sure the 2023 will have minimal changes and look almost identical, which is fine with me 👍🏻
Should i sell my dh bike for the slash ??!?!🤔🤔
Yes! Unless you ride dirt jumps every day 🤔
