In this video I take an in-depth look at the Mapex Venus drum kit. Overall I'm very impressed with the quality of this entry-level drum set and I think it's a superb option for beginners.
This complete drum set package is very well made and it sounds great when tuned up nicely, even with the stock drum heads. The included hardware is also surprisingly sturdy and functional.

I own an early model Mapex V-Series drum set. I haven’t really been able to find out any detailed info on it as to when it was built. I have sent the serial numbers to a number of people in the know,but there doesn’t seem to be much info about this kit.
Anyway, thank you for the very informational and even more entertaining video. You are a great drummer.
Thank you for the kind words! That's interesting - the Mapex Venus Series was originally popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. I think the new version is great! 😃
@@GideonWaxman The guy from Mapex that I talked with told me that judging from the serial numbers it was probably from the early 1990s. I was trying to find out the name of the wrap that is on it. No luck though. He said there were no records of wrap colors from that time. Oh well.

Both are solid options, I think the Venus is the only one of the two that includes everything in one package. It's a little more affordable too. I'd go for the Venus!
Mapex is one of the more affordable brands in South Africa. Been seeing loads of these kits around!
