All star isn’t worth watching anymore
The whole sport isn't worth watching anymore😂
Definitely NBA is horrible people definitely not competitive
Mugs bugus
I didn't watch all star weekend and I'm disappointed it was one of the worse based on y'all reaction
I actually didn’t watch it I knew it was going to be donkey balls
If Kobe was still alive watching that game, he’d walk out the event to show them a msg 😂
thats for real
He probably enjoy more watching his daughter’s game than the all star divas weekend.
He woud not even attend.
I’ve always been a huge fan of the NBA. But honestly I don’t see how it went from Michael Jordon playing every game as if it was his last! To what it is now. Players back then played to win every game. I wish it would go back to that. Thank you Stephen A. Smith for speaking the truth and bringing up these issues.
since a kid who loved basketball, the allstar weekend was my super bowl. and then the last 10 years it really felt like they rubbed it in our faces, the fans "we go so much money we dont care". Dont think ill ever watch this again and wont ever go to one of these weekends in person. Imagine buying the ticket last night and watching the game there. What an embarrassment for the league. The nba has some real issues they need to acknowledge. the league is soo cooked
Yeah, I couldn’t have said it better myself
u just have to look at their ratings. their ratings went up 50 percent for the 3 pt contest this year bc no one watched it last yr😂. why do u guys think the NBA brought Sabrina in? it wasnt just to be nice
This take is so dumb, man. It's not that they don't care, it's that they care about the end goal more than a meaningless exhibition game. There is literally no reason to risk an injury here. That's the difference between basketball then and now. Basketball now is about winning championships. Basketball back in the day was about winning for your ego.
It’s not that they don’t care, they just don’t want to risk injury in a meaningless game.
@@sway_onthetrail no offense, but you sound freaking stupid with that response. So you’re telling me that DrJ., Bird, Magic, Kareem, MJ, Thomas, Robinson, Duncan, Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, etc… didn’t care about winning championships? Where did you get that idea? Some of the greatest players in the game not only won chips, but competed their asses off in the all star game that year as well. It’s ludicrous that you even came up with that take
I'm not a sports fan really but even I know that 211 points is outright ridiculous
Riiiight i was like they really going to break 200 🤦🏽♀️
nba point inflation is out of control
"Player empowerment" is killing the NBA. These self-absorbed players don't respect the fans or the game. Stephen A. was right about the fans in Europe - they'd burn a soccer player's house down if he didn't try hard even in practice lol.
Removing physicality and defense to be inclusive to European players is killing the NBA .
If you scared of injuries. Dont compete!
Call me old school but the good ol days, Players in the 80's 90's cant even wait to duke it out one another during the All Stars. All Star meant something back then..
How the hell did Steph vs Sabrina feels more fulfilling than either dunk contest or skills challenge. 😂
Because 3 pt shooting is the most exciting part about basketball period. Oldheads just don't want to admit that.
@@sway_onthetrailWould football be exciting if they weren't guarded and just threw passes to someone open who ran to the end zone with nobody chasing them?
Steven A. Said something I BEEN THINKING about. It goes to show how much we REALLY do miss David stern . Adam silver is far too nice and has little to NO. Consequences for foolishness.
lol you’re right but Stern was savage as hell.

There may not EVER be another Lebron James to carry the league in an elegant way not getting cought in scandals girls money gunz n drugs.
I was just telling my buddy that same thing. Stern would of locked out the season just to get a favorable CBA!!
If Stern was still alive, that gangster wannabe playing for the Grizzlies would be slinging drugs at a gas station in Memphis now.
These players are beyond overpaid. They simply don’t care. The fans should stop caring as well.
I agree, NBA players these days are way overpaid and do not see any reason why they should care
They should be grateful they get paid unlike ufc fighters or even NFL guys those guys make peanuts and perform better for underpaid shit

Overpaid how? Where do you want the money to go? Back in to the owners pockets? If anything A lot of these star players are underpaid compared to the amount of money they generate for the league
I was child raised in the 90s in Lisbon Portugal, I got to know Shawn Kemp because of the dunk contest. To this day he is one of my favourite players.
If they’re worried about injury then why don’t they find another occupation? Injuries are part of the game. Part of every sport.
The prices of the tickets and the amount that these players make. People HAVE to start boycotting this useless waste of time product
Don't boycott. Just don't show up to the arenas.
You probably was the guy complaining about how expensive super bowl tickets are. It's no pleasing yall.

Well, I think that players got injured back in the 90s and 2000s, as well, and yes, many times the players had to sit out because they were injured, sometimes the injury devastated their career.....
Charles Barkley sat out because he got "hand lotion" in his eye at an Eric Clapton concert.....
What really happened was that he was in a bathroom stall at the Eric Clapton concert with another dude and he got some natural, organic "lotion" in his eye....
But he made it out to be a serious injury and he even said that he was blind for a few hours! Lol
He said he couldn't play and had to sit out.....
This was back in 1994....
@@andrewtheworldcitizen dang yo. You just made up a story out of thin air. With a straight face.
Watching the All Star game in the 70s, 80s, early 90s, was like watching a rival regular season game. It was competitive, excited, entertaining, and you were the egg in the face if you missed it. You didn't record it and watched it later, you watched it LIVE. It was a must.
What ruined it is free agency & the teams trying to constantly stack their lineups through trades. In the past, more players stayed with their teams so they developed a rivalry throughout the league. Now players move around so much that they’re all buddies & don’t develop team loyalty or that level of competition.
Cancel that whole weekend all together !!!
Right
Do an Allstar game vs the WNBA stars. I bet they show up then. Mfs will be looking stupid out there because I know the girls are going to try.
I agree maybe make it a celebrity basketball tournament instead and maybe have themed teams
Cancel it and fine all 30 teams for it
Stop the all star games!
Or revamp it😂
It’s Adam Silver fault too, not just the players. If David Stern was still commissioner, he wouldn’t go for none of that sh!t lol

That game was absolutely terrible. No one cared on the court. It was a mockery and these players have all the power to make it a good game. Sad to see. Eliminate all star weekend. Its done. These players have such a disconnect, it’s criminal.
That's not true. Scottie was playing defense & KD played with effort on that end as well.
Here is a way to fix, and evolve, the NBA. 1) Block shots should be .5 point deduction - this encourages defense while also adding big man value and stats 2) There should be a 3-2-3 point structure to shooting outside the arch for the first three qaurters. No back to back 3 points. Allow the shoiting but the second can only value 2 points - This encourages the post game and ball drive. It brings back organic basketball and positions
A Blocked shot by team A should be a 1 point deduction from team Bs score..
.
This scoring adjustment should be also adopted in the regular season and playoffs...
I appreciate your passion,SAS! Never change
The commissioner is to blame. They took defense out of the game when they removed the hand check. So lazy defense in the past is what you see as regular defense in the regular season. So, proportionally, what you see in todays game is a product of a watered down game of basketball. It’s time for the NBA to revaluate its stance on gearing the game toward offense.
That part cause what we are getting is bs
They did that once the Lakers got beat down in the finals by the Pistons lol.

This year's All-Star game was a national embarrassment, to have that many Hall of Fame former players in attendance and that's what we got from today's All-Stars was simply pathetic. I was completely infuriated watching this year's All-Star weekend festivities. and I can't promise you I'll watch the game next year. At this point I simply don't know.
It was absolutely horrible. I stop watching this event 3 years ago. Wasting my time!
I stopped watching right after Kobe retired but even then NBA all star was still cringy and just got worse ever since.
Curry vs sabrina 3pts is the best highlight happened on that all stars event

That was woke propaganda. If it was a fair contest, both would be using the same size balls. FYI, its easier to make shots with a smaller ball.

Hell most of the celebrities in the “Celebrity game” are just as unrecognizable as the NBA guys in the skills competition. The entire weekend is a joke and an insult to the fans. The NBA should be embarrassed.
For real!!! Outside of the actual athletes, I was like "who TF are these people"?
half of them were internet celebrities...thats how far the NBA has fallen. Remember when it was actual movie stars? Actual musical artists?
Didn’t know all the celebs featured in this year’s festivities, but the celebs put on a more competitive game imo
So not going to hate on them
This league doesn’t have broad enough appeal anymore to attract actors and singers.
@@Dustyphoto915 Do you feel like there is any way to rectify that?

I ordered the book on Audible and will keep looking to see how you keep moving to learn more. God bless.
Silver is the worst thing to happen to the NBA. Letting players dictate the league ruined it.
Not to mention the rise of NBA-sanctioned sports betting...
The whole appeal of the NBA all star game was the league’s greatest players teaming up for one night. Then all these bums started teaming up with their rival besties in free agency and people applauded it for over a decade. League ain’t been the same since. Moving forward I hope all y’all hair grows like Kevin Durant’s.

This is what happens when the players are in charge of the league basically. Got draymond out here punching and kicking with minimal accountability. Players demanding trades and expecting exuberant amounts of money for playing less games than ever. Players ignoring the most simple rules and fundamentals and getting away with it. NBA product is going downhill and we are all witnesses.
actually the players are not in charge, they are not allowed to say anything, if they do they get fined. it is the RULES,. defense is kind of banned today. slight contact is called foul , but this allstar game peaked in lack of defense.

@@realitycheck2482You're the type of idiot that would go broke fast.
Love your idea for the dunk contest. Got me thinking about how to make the All Star Game competitive and I think I've got an idea.
Nothing more boring than 4 quarters of blow out, so lets split the game into 4 sperate games.
1st Quarter - 5 on 5 No subs. Like the bench players currently, players chosen by the coaches. Although to increase competitiveness to be eligible, players have to have less than 5 All Star appearances. That way everyone still has their reputation to build and should take the opportunity to compete. To add an extra incentive the winning team's MVP, wins his team the chance to host next year's All Star game.
2nd Quarter - 3 on 3 The top 4 to 6 vote getters from each conference play a 3 on 3 game, first to 21 points with a 2 point lead.
3rd Quarter - 2 on 2. The top 2 and 3 vote getters for each conference play a 2 on 2 game, first to 21 points with a 2 point lead.
4th Quarter - Top vote getters of each conference play 1 on 1 to determine who is the best player in the league. First to 11 with a 2 point lead.
This way if you don't compete and your team loses you look like a chump, nowhere to hide. This would be competitive as hell and people would love to see it, love to talk about who's the best match ups and who would beat who.
They won't care until fans stop going to games, buying merchandise and supporting them. As long as they keep getting these massive contracts they're just not going to care about regular season/ Allstar games.
If you truly want an All-Star weekend, then stop inviting players to All-Star weekend that aren’t actually All-Stars. If you didn’t make the team, you shouldn’t be a part of All Star weekend. The skills competition should be nothing but guys who were named to the All-Star team. We don’t need a rookie game or celebrity game either. If the actual All-Stars don’t want to compete, then call it all off.
Get rid of the wnba too.

1. Require all 30 teams participate.
2. Let fans vote who will join each team. Sure they will vote for Ja, Zion, etc.
3. Either stars join and make their fans happy or make them disappointed.
Hell nah ain't nobody trying to see 60 dunks within an hour lmao
I think they should do a contest to replay a classic dunk as the core and then have one freestyle. The best Jordan kiss the rim in one. The best Vince dunk in the second round etc. There are enough classic dunks from all types of players and I would like to see the participants try to model and improve on the classics. Then the one freestyle dunk that wins from a single player can carry the competition forward. The best freestyle will be included in the classics moving forward to increase the classic pool.

What players have been saying for the last 15yrs+ is that they can be friendly and still compete at the highest level. Simply proven to be untrue by their actions. They don't have the stamina to play the whole regular season, with all the luxuries they're provided compared to players of the past.
They're unwilling to even give mediocre effort in the regular season games they do play in. Unless it's the last few weeks of the season and their playoff lives are at stake.
They're unwilling to practice their craft at even college levels of current day.
When given the opportunity to go against the best in the league, like in an All-Star game, they can't be bothered to even try.
The players have been given substantial time, over a decade, to show their way is better than the past, and they have failed misserably to prove it, period.
It's untrue to this generation. Kobe, Mj, Kareem had friends in the league. They were just better and way more competitive.

I heard, according to Hassan Whiteside, that the only way to have players take the All Star game seriously is that whoever wins, either the East or West will have home court advantage in the NBA Finals. I think it's a great idea.
I don't think it is. Not everyone will put the same effort especially those who don't play for a competitive team that can make it there.
@@chrisflo24Most all stars are on good teams inherently since its a popularity contest. The ones that would have something to play for outweigh those that don’t
I was expecting Stephen A Smith to tow the company line and tell us how great the game was and how lucky we are, you sir earned a subscriber today
We need to rethink what the event should / could be about. Some food for thought:
- Does this even need to happen in the middle of the season? Maybe it makes more sense to have it some time in the off-season. All-Stars would be a bit more willing to play at a higher intensity. What about a Rookies vs 2nd Years game? I can see these players have a chip on their shoulder. Or we can even have a mix of retiring players and incoming rookies (maybe East vs West style) playing against each other. That one may be a bit of a stretch... lol
- But does it even HAVE to be just about competitions? Or can we use this time to reflect and celebrate the culture around the game? Think ESPY's style. Maybe it's a good time for the NBA Commissioner to give a "State of the Union" address. Maybe it's a good time for award presentations. This could also be a good time to celebrate players that are retiring.
Hidden under every problem is an opportunity...

As for Indiana fans, that was a horrible display of sportsmanship to display in front of young kids, because your guy didn’t win.
if the players are afraid of getting injured and not giving their best at ASG.. so, STOP the all star game... replace it with an event that might be more beneficial for basketball development... maybe a tour abroad and giving a training clinic or something like that..As a basketball lover, I am VERY BORED with ASG... even the dunk contest is not worth watching... the 2016 dunk contest has set the bar high... so people will definitely compare it to that year ...I hope Adam Silver will immediately delete All Star Game in 2026...
Adam Silver wouldn't "delete" the All-Star Game in 2026. All-Star Weekend brings in too much money for the NBA! 💵

@@djangojenkins7019 if anything the NFL consistently puts out a great TV product. Im never wondering if Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson are gonna play unless its week 18 with seeding wrapped up. The NFL gets so much right where the NBA gets wrong
Removing physicality and defense to be inclusive to European players is killing the NBA
That Kenny interview was a please save me !! Your getting destroyed 😂
I’m with you on that dunk contest change SA. That sounds legit bro!
MAYBR WE SHOULD HAVE AN ONE ON ONE COMPETITION!!! OR TWO ON TWO COMPETITION!!!
THIS LEBRON JAMES ERA KILLED THE THE ALL STAR GAMES!!!
Y’all blame LeBron for everything, he played in 4 different eras😂😂 what y’all forget? Bron was dominating the league when Tmac, Vince, and Kobe was playin too. Idc wha the oldheads say Bron is the greatest next to Jordan
Lebron scared to be in the dunk contest.
The 3-point shot has made the game unwatchable. Every other game should be without the three-point line.
8:55-8:57 “Craig Miner???” You mean Harold Miner 😭
They have to add some regular season or play off stakes in the all star game like which ever side wins and the losing teams on each side might get an advantage in the regular season some how so they can stay in it
Kenny had a VERY good point on Curry getting the edge by having Sabrina shoot from NBA range. I've only shot at high school range my whole 44 years. NBA range is a whole different world. Major props to Sabrina for living up to the moment, but it would have been awesome seeing her go for 35 or so.
Well what's your excuse for her using a smaller ball isn't that an advantage? There has to be some type of middle ground. It's a reason she missed every green ball
@@thaofficiall2thad420they want privilege and equality at the same time.
I agree the players are overpaid but so is the owners, both should have to donate 5% to former players & to youth programs in public schools
For the first time, Mr. Briggs makes a lot of sense regarding the dunk contest❤❤❤❤❤
I’m with you on the slam dunk contest and how you are presenting it. I think getting the WNBA involved could be a great thing. Especially the three point contest. My kids and I were super hyped about Steph, Sabrina and three point contest. Everything else sucks and keeps getting worse and worse. I was watching a clip where Charles Barkley and Pippen were going at it. Makes the game enjoyable to watch.
