Yes , also the way they were introduced , all gym leaders had introduction episodes and Korrina literally had an amazing arc , and I don't even need to talk about the battles , they were just amazing

at least Infernape and charizard are coming back. I have a feeling that there will be a part seven and eight and nine and maybe 10. I have a feeling that greninja is gonna comeback in one of those and bring back sceptile. Also, we should get to see Lille and Gladion and their story.

This show is filled with nostalgia. It was the first Pokémon anime I actually finished and the one that actually made me like Pokémon more. It was by far Ash’s best team. It’s sad the writers did him dirty again and made him lose.

The biggest disappointment however was Noivern ! It was such a good Pokemon but was handled so badly.

@HyperKav tournament competitor pikachu loses to a level 5 snivy. Still one of the iconic embarrassment. Even if Pikachu's level was "reset" it's not like Ash and Pikachu doesn't have competing experience like wtf, if this was a game then it would make sense but the anime gives you the actual option to "dodge" and considering Ashe's past experiences, dealing with the moves of some starter trainer should have been a breeze
The polar opposite of gen 5. Where the games were awesome, but the anime... I like to pretend it never existed. Ironic.

Uhh, Zac Serena never said she was going to become a coordinator. She said she was going to study contests to further her goal in becoming Kalos Queen. She wasn't giving it up as her whole arc was about finding a goal and sticking to it.

Okay but, the Braixen stick episode was actually really good because it showed more of the caring side that James has. The person for that part had no clue what they were talking about.

If Ash vs Sawyer and Ash vs Alain weren’t two of the most incredible battles in the anime, the Kalos league would’ve been the worst league hands down. Thankfully they were awesome we got the flare arc right after
Also don’t forget we had one of the best gym leader development who didn’t make it as a main character, CORRINA, her story arc was very good and the way they introduced mega evolution using arguably the best mega evolved Pokémon was amazing. She was also very much inspired by Ash and seeing her comeback in the journeys got me hyped up so much.

Yeah you're right. There are few episodes based on her and the mega evolution.
Take me back to 2014-2016, when everyone on CZcams and Twitter were obsessed with the "coolest Pokémon anime" and we were analyzing, theorizing and waiting for the next episode/Amourshipping moment/evolution/magazine scan. Amazing times were had. And yes, I'm still salty Ash lost the Kalos League even if the League itself (as a competition) was poor.
34:00 Ok, here's the thing. Clembot is still technically dead as you were to say, erase a person's entire life from their memories, you basically killed them. Not in body, but in mind, as memories make up a person's identity, and it would have been pretty dumb if Clement just left Clembot broken when he could just rebuild him.

Pokemon XY was where I started as a Pokemon fan, Greninja actually led me into this series, my first time seeing him in super smash bros, got so interested in him, and very easily became my main in smash bros, and since at that time as a kid I was obsessed with youtube, which lead me to the series, at that time I didn't know anything about the sun and moon games during the xyz anime, I didn't even know the games existed, so I was able to see awesome things for the first time in the anime as my experience, like zygarde's forms, and the most satisfying for me, seeing episode 25 where at the end of Ash-Greninja vs Mega Gardevoir, Ash-Greninja broke open from the water and formed a big water shuriken on the back, was just so satisfying for me, especially with the awesome Iku Z theme in the background, this is my favorite pokemon series alongside diamond and pearl, and I miss the golden days of xyz

It left a pain in my heart when i finished the xyz series... The music in last ep when he returns to kanto is so sensational... I tried watching again but it didnt felt the same... I actually want xyz cast to return to pokemon(not for 1 or 2 ep,but a bit of an arc) the xyz was perfection by pokemon series. No series could match xyz. Moreover the graphics are damn good

What do you mean by 'actual' anime?
I mean, it made sense for Sawyer to get his badges before Ash, Sawyer is single-mindedly focused on his league challenge, while Ash is involved eith Serena's performances, Clemont twking over the Lumiose gym and Bonnie caring for Squishy, all of that took a lot of time out of his schedule.
On top of that, Team Rocket was constantly harassing Ash and the gang, too
The inter-personal relationships of the main group shine and they all have a unique dynamic with each other. Ash and Serena
goes without saying, he admires Clement and shares a wanderlust with Bonnie. Serena is a big sister to Bonnie, who has great sibling moments with Clement. Previous series have felt like Ash is the glue keeping the group together for how little the others interacted on a personal level (tell me one unique thing about Brock and Dawn’s relationship that isn’t him explaining what’s happening in battle). You could put any two of the XY group in a situation just them two and have a good time.

I’m sorry, I love the XY group and their chemistry but there’s one interaction you didn’t mention: Serena & Clemont. And that’s because their relationship is just on the borderline of being a Dawn & Brock relationship. So this group ain’t perfect either.
@@Dan-wd1xs Might be controversial but I think the Brock and Misty relationship might be even worse than the Brock and Dawn relationship as since they’re both gym leaders there’s less battlefield exposition Brock has to deliver. On a character and story level the original trio just doesn’t do much for me and I don’t have any nostalgia for them. My two favourite groups are DP and XY.

XY was the peak of the series in my opinion. Ash actually being competent really boosted it to greater heights.
I'm only thirteen, so XY is extremely nostalgic for me. My and my brother would watch it together every morning and it was the only show we agreed on. We tried watching Sun and Moon when it came out, but I was the only one who watched the whole thing. He grew out of the anime and only collects the cards, while I play the games and watch the anime.
(Also that ending was phenomenal)
Same for my brothers. Our older brother drop the anime a long time ago so it was just me and my other twin brother who watch the anime. We watch the XY series and XYZ in afternoon and we had good memories and our favorite series. And then SM came so we drop it because how it change. Journeys has good and bad moment in my opinion.
Yeah my friends who didnt follow pokemon loves to watch pokemon xyz because it was like an actual shounen anime and till now they still hope for serena and greninja return lol.

The ending sucked and they just took the BW ending in the games where Alain (N clone) is manipulated by Lysandre (Ghetsis clone). Evil team uses a Legendary (Zekrom or Reshiram based on which version you played) destroys the league (N's Castle appears and destroys the league), Gym leaders and the champion do something (BW did it). It was the worst series I had seen and the reason it is popular is because Ash x Serena and Ash Greninja.

We’ve only just got one season’s worth of episodes for Journeys.
Journey also still have a lot of potential to be had too (further development of other Pokémon beside the LucaAce pair, the entire tournament arc, the development of Chloe, the development of Ash, the Ash’s All-Star Team, etc...). It’s still have a lot of room to either go really good or really bad, so you can’t really judge them right now

God I remember getting chills watching the ending to this show in 6th grade I was so emotionally invested in this I almost cried when it was over, being a junior in high school now it was such an emotional rollercoaster reliving all of this

Honestly, as upsetting as Ash losing the Kalos league was, I believe it was his most respectful league loss.
Me too. Alain was built up to be a powerful trainer. we got to see him grow instead of having some rando trainer come out of nowhere just to be "powerful dude that beats Ash" or just have it be even worse than that somehow with Kanto and Unova. Definitely most respectable league loss.
Let’s go through the previous losses:
- indigo: so anticlimactic
- Johto: I mean it was clearly set up for the next region but the battle was great
- hoenn: a meowth, really?! At least he lost to the champion
- sinnoh: unforgivable
- unova: embarrassing
So either this, Johto or Hoenn imo
I think Johto was more respectful. Ash gave Harrison a great run for his money, and the match was so close Blaziken couldn’t fight in the next round. Ash has met his goal of defeating Gary in battle so he still had a great achievement under his belt. There was a lot more hype around Ash winning the Kalos League, with the Ash-Greninja form and the perception of Alain as a Mary Sue didn’t help. Unlike Johto or Sinnoh Ash didn’t have as meaningful a long term rivalry resolved in previous rounds and the Team Flare arc overshadowed the League anyway.
Oh definitely he deserved to lose but I really wanted him to win
Honestly, they could've changed probably two minutes worth of animation and a paragraphs worth of dialogue to have Ash win. Everything leading up to the final clash was done well enough that nothing else really needed to change.
Bonnie is probably one of my favorite characters in XYZ because she is cuteness incarnate. I mean, just look at her face on 14:04.

We're happy to see this, not only because this is one of the only times where the anime bested the games, but also how this time, Ash actually managed to evolve his entire team. Something he only did in Kalos.
Journeys: am I a joke to you
Y’all might roast me for this, but Jessie had the best performances out of everyone, yes, even Serena. Since she’s a villain and thus uses less traditionally cute Pokémon, her performances stood out more cause they weren’t all glitter and sparkles. Go back and watch her final performance compared to Shauna and Serena, she DEMOLISHED them

This series is forever something I will cherish. Although Pokemon Origins got me back into Pokemon, it was XY that truly brought me back into not just the games but even into the hype train of the series, and I wanna watch this whole series again.

As funny as it may sound, I wholeheartedly agree that the pacing for Kalos was honestly not the best despite being one of my favorites, not to mention that I was quite disappointed on how they treated Noivern and Goodra during the league. I am not mad that Ash lost against Alain however that can’t be said for the way Greninja lost, even in Japan, the fans were just as upset and to make things worse in the second to last episode, the way Greninja was released and the reasoning behind was honestly a mixed bag for me because i respect Greninja for being protector of Kalos in which sounds good on paper but from a narrative perspective felt extremely forced and it honestly made me more sad than angry. The only minor thing that I enjoyed was that Xerosic battle but aside from that, that episode was quite meh in my humble opinion and I honestly understand that Goodra’s releases felt kinda rushed but at least, it was more understandable and handled better than Greninja’s.

I really enjoyed watching XY/XYZ! Every episode was great and I really liked Serena’s journey as a performer. I even downloaded some episodes. Ash was at his best as a trainer, Serena was very talented as a Performer and Clement and Bonnie were cool as well.
We're never gonna know what the "best series" is, but this show presents a really good case to receive such a title.
FACTS
It can be the best series in certain aspects still, like it's still the king of battle animation while dp may still have what's considered to be the best rival or sm with characters
@@dragonmaster3030 SM has more characters, but that's kind of it as they are all just average with very few standouts. I consider DP and BW to both have better side casts, while XY had a fantastic main cast.

This show has so much nostalgia for me. I remember getting my copy of Pokemon X and my 2ds so I could play along Ash’s journey throught the League. Definitely great memories

The Mega Evolution specials were also great for introducing trainers who would appear in the Kalos League, avoiding a roster of trainers who aside from two or three rivals were all new and generally not much effort characterised.
This series made Ash a good character again. It was much better than how the BW series handeled him

I was definitely surprised that you didn’t like how Greninja left, Zac. Yes, it sucks that they did it at all, but I like the idea of Greninja helping to keep the peace with a Legendary. That’s a huge honor for an Ash Pokémon. Besides, it’s not a forever goodbye. Once all the vines are gone for good, you know he’ll be back.
It's a high and very respectable honour but it felt so unneeded and forced. Zygarde was supposed to have disposed of all the vines and I just feel they didn't give a good enough reason why they're still here. It just felt like they were trying to get rid of Greninja when they didn't really need to. Ash was gonna start fresh either way so they didn't need to worry about Greninja sticking around and claiming house. Though I will concede that being the protector of Kalos is a pretty cool title to have.
I guess, but seeing zygarde praise greninja's strength would have been more than enough. Like Zac said, this was just forced and there was literally no reason to do this. We were nearly at the end of the series anyway, and we get no explanation y only greninja can see the vines and not zygarde, when it was the one that created those vines in the first place.
Releasing it was just BS, as was goodra getting released AGAIN. They brought it back, let it stay and go to oak's with the others, and greninja.
@@narxmagee727 it would have made a lot more sense if there were some teasing to greninja having to stay behind, like how we got teasing of poipole getting released prior to the necrozma arc and goodra's first release. That one did make sense.

And in sun and moon and journeys, he is calmer all because of kalos. He is focused when battling and never become cocky. It shows how crucial XY was for him.
What really got clear to me in XYZ was Ash's attitude about a battle or challenge in general.
He's someone who can take a loss with no problem, but is more upset about HOW he loses or even win sometimes as he is someone
who desires to fight on an fair and equal ground for both sides,
the instances being shown over the course of the last 25 years: (Minus alola, the S&M ruined that.)
-his gym battles against Brock in season 1, where he refuses to take the win in their 2nd Match because of the Water sprinkler system kicking in.
-His match against Ritchie in the Indigo League, where he mainly lost it due to the stubbornness of his charizard before he started to listen to Ash.
(Let's be real, who wouldn't feel upset about that.)
-The onesided slaughter vs Wattson in Hoenn with his overcharged Pikachu.
-His 8th Place in th Unova league, which was a downgrade from the Sinnoh one.
-The fact he loses in the 1st Gym in Kalos, and that by a more clear landslide from Viola's side.
-The short series of Losses with his Greninja due to his own hastiness with the Battle Bond.

something else i loved about xy is how the different characters pokemon interacted like goodra and dedenne and eevee and bunnelby, it felt like this is the first time pokemon even really acknowledged the other main characters pokemon (besides pikachu shorts and like pikachu/bunnelby) and it really made this group feel more like a family than other series
XY is my favorite pokemon anime but i have one major problem with it: it needed more time. Unlike DP which had to many episodes XY needed more story episodes to make serena wanting to do showcases feel earlier and giving jesse showcase episodes were she wins. But other than that i have no major problems with the series.
Very very very true, even that is the only complaint I have and the other being that it ended without any special episodes
thats because DP have 4 years the time to air and every new gen stated with BW have only 3 years to air. thats wgy it can be feel rushed.
I will say, something I love about XY is that it took a bunch of fun creative liberities when shifting the story from the games to the anime. Its most apparent in Team Flare and Diantha and even Olympia. When they are all given so much meaning than they did in the games. Because of this, they made the series's stories way more original where you actually have no idea where it will head next. They even made the focus in XYZ about zygarde and ash greninja, which are 2 pokemon that were unheard off at this point and they are important to the story. So unlike lets say munchlax and togepi where they were future gen pokemon that played a role in their series, Ash greninja and Zygarde are original pokemon that have an impact.
Thats what I love about the series, it just feels more original and can really stand alone and feel so much more different than the games when it comes to story

The best thing about x and y IMO was the intro music. I would say that stand tall is the best in the entire series with be a hero and the Pokémon theme remix not to far behind it
I honestly think that each series (The original series, XY, S&M, and Journeys because I haven’t watched the others) is unique and good in its own way! I’m not sure if I could rank them because I enjoyed them all!
You're lucky because those three are all good (Journeys less so, but I haven't seen much). The anime was pretty mediocre during Kanto and Johto (I dare say even kinda bad without nostalgia), Hoenn started weak but got good halfway through, Sinnoh was great, but Unova was a blasphemy. Give me a try regardless, I think they all on netflix!
@@hardlo7146 the original is quite terrible without rose tinted glasses with the only good movies from it being heroes and mewtwo and having so much filler, hoenn was kinda mediocre until the battle frontier, if your watching the dub you will hear a "slight" change with the VA part way through(I think the start of season 3) and only the lucario/new movie was good. diamond and pearl was good though it does dragon at times like the one year ago between gyms, dp had some good movies like the darkrai one and the shaymin one to some people. I don't even think I need to brings up black and white with it's terrible gym battles, terrible movies, nostalgia.pandering, Terrible writing and of course the terrible to mediocre companion/rivals. xy was great with it's characters, had little filler and honestly(in my opinion) a number of the filler was actually pretty good and of course still holding the title of best battle animation, the xy movies are fine if you just turn your brain off. sm was good if you can get used to the art style and their were movies from sm. Journeys is still going on and every episode it saddens me to see all the missed potential of it, you got 8 regions and 20+ old companions and it does nothing with it, goh just catches everything so why care, anyone that's not a pikachu or lucario or aceburn get no screentime and like 80% of the episodes take place in either Kanto or johto and its even trying to finish the plot point from sm but it hasn't even touched on that in 20+ episodes already
15:00 Looking back at this Zac, I’ll defend Max here on one of these points when compared to Bonnie. I think the reason why Max didn’t get the kind of treatment Bonnie got in terms of Pokémon interaction was due to the fact that May was a rookie trainer while Clemons’s a full fledged gym leader.
After all, Clemont was already a well experienced Pokémon trainer by the time XY started due to being a gym leader, and as such, catching Pokémon wasn’t one of the priorities for his character during XY. Because of that, it gives Bonnie’s character room to have her brother catch her Dedenne to take care of so she can get first hand experience as an aspiring trainer.
Max on the other hand doesn’t get this luxury for his character. May was a brand new trainer at the start of the Advanced series, and soon enough became interested in Contests. Unlike Clemont, May had a particular goal for her character to progress towards alongside Ash’s badge quests, so she doesn’t have the luxury of giving Max a Pokémon when she needs to spend time catching Pokémon for herself to use towards Contests.
Another good difference between Max and Bonnie is that Max outdoes Bonnie *intellectually* as an aspiring trainer. While Bonnie has practical experience by actually using Dedenne and interacting with Pokémon more, Max has intellectual experience with Pokémon by researching them in books, knowing well about their abilities, typing and characteristics. As well as having his father as a gym leader.
and zygarde promised bonnie to join her when she becomes 10 so she will be one of the strongest trainers..
Well, Max also spent a fair amount of time looking after May’s Muchlax, so he’s got some practical experience too.
Im gonna say Allain's BIsharp OHKOing Ash's 2 pokemon makes sense, since it used Guillotine, which is an OHKO move. I just find it bullshit that he was able to land an OHKO move easily.

Executive Meddling: Ash losing the Kalos League was the result of this. Originally Ash was supposed to win the Kalos League, but the higher-ups ended up veto-ing it under the belief Ash winning the League would result in a drop in viewership since the Myth Arc would have finally been wrapped up.
And we all know how well *that* line of thinking ended for them...

Like seriously.... 😂 . Her crush on Ash , helped her get out of her house and thanks to Shauna and Ash she could even find her dream . Her crush on Ash no way affected the plot. She wanted to be a Pokemon performer and I didn't see her even thinking about Ash and was only keen in performances and practices in the last episodes of XY kalos quest and the whole of XYZ.
