- EASIEST CROCHET COWL TUTORIAL FOR BEGINNERS! Finding the perfect crochet pattern for the men in our lives isn't always easy. This crochet cowl is a favourite for the men in my life. It is absolute beginner friendly and only uses rows of single crochet. It is worked width wise and then sewn up with a seam. So what is great about this for you? If you find it difficult to do a starting chain that you join to form a circle YOU DON'T HAVE TO with this pattern :) Simply work in rows and the sew it up!

VERY NICE.
A nice looking cowl. I made what I'd hoped to be a nice royal blue version of it, but my wife claimed it 'cause the cowl turned out big and thick. So I went with another color, and decided made it much smaller. Happiness across the house. Thanks for this design!

I would make the starting chain about 6-8 less chains then simply add rows until you have the correct length to around his neck:) Hope this helps!

Would this work in a bulky yarn 5 weight? If so what hook size?
For sure go with whatever hook size is recommended or one size up. Remember to add some extra starting chains and you can than work as many rows as you need to end up at the right size.

Couldn't get hold of a 15mm hook. Can I use a 10 mm one instead??😔
For sure but you will want to do a longer change to start. It may even be a bit stiff but it will work for sure.
If we use bulky yarn and 10mm hook, should we increase the chain #?
+Devi Ganesh yes for sure. If you are using bulky I would go down to an 8mm unless you want a very open stitch. Chain until you reach 12” then count the number of chains you have and keep track of that number at each row. Hope this helps!
